September 22nd Bug-Fixing Build

This is a pretty minor update; no huge new features to share with you at the moment. I simply decided that, since a lot of little fixes and improvements have been piling up, I might as well release a new build.

The situation hasn’t changed; I’m still waiting for some animations/illustrations before I can implement the Light Music Club. In the meantime, I’m working on other stuff. Every day is a little different; sometimes it’s Osana, sometimes it’s bug-fixing, sometimes it’s a minor feature I’ve wanted to put into the game for a long time. At this point, I’ve pretty much run out of minor tasks to work on, so I think I’ll move on to the next major task – implementing the Guidance Counselor. I’ll return to working on the Light Music Club whenever I get the assets necessary to implement them.

An amazing artist named p-ip-amoru has drawn some phenomenal illustrations that I’m absolutely in love with! Here’s one of them:

September 16th Bug-Fixing Build

Whoops! The martial arts sparring minigame had some bugs. I’ve uploaded a new build where it’s much more stable! But, before I talk about that…

The Magical Girl Pretty Miyuki minigame doesn’t grant the player any rewards for beating it (yet), so I’d like to personally congratulate four YouTubers who beat it! Say hello to these magical girls boys:

Congratulations BijuuMike, Jay, Razzbowski, and VeggieGamer, for beating Magical Girl Pretty Miyuki!

This artwork was drawn by MulberryArt, and you can see each magical boy drawn individually here:

September 13th Bug-Fixing Build

You know how, when you’re talking to a club leader, there is a “Spar” option on the dialogue wheel?

For the past couple of years, that menu option has been unavailable. In the current build, it finally does something!

The idea is that, for every club, that menu option would have a different effect. For the Martial Arts Club, it would be “Spar”, but for other clubs, it would be something else entirely.

In the case of the Martial Arts Club, it would allow the player to practice the delinquent combat minigame in a safe setting with no consequences, so that you can gain experience at the minigame without actually putting yourself at risk of being knocked out by the delinquents.

I’ve wanted to implement this feature for years, but of course, it had to wait until the delinquents and the combat minigame were in the game. The Light Music Club is going to use that menu option, so I had to implement it as part of the process for implementing the LMC. Now that this feature is in the game, we’re one step closer to the LMC being completely finished!

I’m actually not sure if this feature will make it into the final game; it could extend development time considerably if every club has a unique utility or interactive minigame. Because I’m not actually sure if this feature will make it into the game, I haven’t been talking about it at all for the past few years; if I have to cut this feature from the game, I don’t want anyone to feel like I’ve broken a promise. Still, this is a feature that I want the game’s demo to have, so that I can say, “This is my vision for the game,” when I’m showing off the demo.

On the subject of giving every club a unique utility that is accessible by talking to the club leader, I already have ideas for every club – but I’d still be interested in hearing what kind of ideas you might come up with. If every club had a menu option that resulted in some sort of gameplay benefit, what kind of features do you think would be most beneficial for the player? It could be a “practice mode” for one of the game’s features, but it could also grant the player a benefit or an item or something along those lines. What ideas can you come up with?

Of course, I’ve been working on other stuff, too – but the majority of it, I can’t show you yet, since it’s not ready and I want it to be a surprise. I’m really excited about all of it, though!

September 7th Bug-Fixing Build

I’ve uploaded a new build with some bug fixes and minor improvements. Nothing huge, just getting a bunch of stuff out of the way. Although I’ve made progress on the Light Music Club, I’d prefer not to show you what I’ve been working on; I’d like it to be a surprise when it finally comes out.

September 4th Minor Improvement Build

The latest build contains a handful of improvements over the previous one. All very minor differences, but I still want to release this build and let people experience the changes.

First, I want to say that I was absolutely delighted by Bijuu Mike’s video about the new minigame, Magical Girl Pretty Miyuki. I was actually really looking forward to watching YouTubers react to it, so I was very happy to see Jay, Razz, and Veggie all give it a try! however, the only one who succeeded in beating the minigame was Bijuu Mike! As a reward, here is an illustration of Mike as a magical girl boy, drawn by MulberryArt! Take a look at Pretty Salad Bijuu Mike!

While programming Magical Girl Pretty Miyuki, I became so familiar with it that I could easily beat it without taking damage, and I lost the ability to objectively judge whether or not it was easy or hard. I was actually worried that it might be considered too easy! Although most people expressed that the game was way too hard, a certain individual implied that the game wasn’t challenging enough for him. For his benefit, I have added a Hard Mode to Magical Girl Pretty Miyuki. Press “H” at the title screen and see what happens!

By the way – do you remember “LoveSick”, the animated series about Yandere Simulator being produced by Sakura Media? The 5th episode is finally out! Please give it a watch!

A few months ago, Michaela Laws – the voice actress for Yandere-chan – created a rap battle between Yandere-chan and Yandere-kun. Just a few weeks ago, Eisjon Noaj, the artist who provided the artwork for Yandere-chan’s Childhood – created illustrations for the rap battle! Check it out!

September 3rd Bug-Fixing Build

The assets I need to implement the Light Music Club are beginning to trickle in – I’m so excited about it! I’ve begun to implement them, but so far, I’ve mostly just worked on the cosmetic aspects of the characters and club; they don’t have true functionality yet, so they’re disabled in the current build.

In the meantime, I worked on other features and made progress on Osana. The latest build contains a new feature that I’m really excited about, but I don’t want to say too much about it…I want to see the surprise on YouTubers’ faces when they find it for the first time. All I’m going to say is that the new feature is located somewhere within Yandere-chan’s home. I’m looking forward to seeing what they think of it!

When you see this feature, you might ask yourself, “Why did YandereDev spend time on this, instead of working on a core gameplay feature?” The answer is that the new feature fulfills certain criteria that Yandere Simulator’s demo needs to fulfill. I’m intentionally being vague about it, because I plan to explain my reasoning in my next video, which will come out when the Light Music Club is done!

Update Coming Soon

Edit: Sorry, I need a bit more time! Hopefully the update will be ready by September 3rd!

I need a few more assets in order to implement the Light Music Club as I’ve been envisioning them. While I wait for those assets to be created, I’ve been working on the cosmetic aspects of the club, fixing bugs, making progress on Osana, and working on other aspects of the game unrelated to the club.

There’s a special feature that I’ve wanted to implement for a very long time. I decided that this would be the perfect time to work on it, so I spent the past few days putting it together. The feature is now 99% complete, and tomorrow I’m going to put the finishing touches on it! I’m really eager to see how people react to it! If everything goes well, then I estimate that I should be ready to release a new build of the game within 24 hours.

In the meantime, I’d like to share some cool things that I found over the past few days:

A French YouTuber named KaraL created a video where she dresses up as Musume Ronshaku and depicts a day in Musume’s life! She puts herself inside of the game and interacts with the characters; it’s rare for me to see something so creative! There are a lot of funny moments, and the video has English subtitles for non-French speakers!

YouTuber TaraFYW created a really cool Yandere-chan cosplay tutorial. I had a lot of fun watching her transform into Yandere-chan. The styling of the wig was especially fascinating to me, since I was always curious how people were able to create “air intakes” on a wig!

A Russian cosplay team named “Bad Guys” dressed up as Yandere Sim characters, and I think they did an absolutely amazing job!

You can see a gallery of their work here!

Last but not least, there are a few more images I’d like to share with you! Click “Continue Reading” to see them!
