March 17th Bug-Fixing Build

If you’re looking for information about the latest big features to be added to the game, click here!

A lot of bugs have been reported! I’ve done my best to fix the most important ones. Scroll down below this awesome illustration by 132 to read about all of the bugs that were fixed!

And if you’d like to check out some other artwork that 132 created for my YouTube videos, click here, here, and here!

Bug Fixes

  • There was a bug that would cause a student’s dead body to become inaccessible if the student was killed too close to the school exit. To combat this issue, I’ve extended the amount of time that students are invulnerable for, when they are walking through the school gate.
  • Fixed bug that would allow a student to see a corpse even if the corpse had “Hidden” status (inside of a bathroom stall, for example).
  • Fixed bug that would cause a mind-broken slave to appear in your basement even after they had already killed themselves.
  • Fixed the bug that would allow the player to rotate the GUI while peeking into…the room we don’t talk about.
  • Fixed bug that would cause corpses to leave blood pools in midair while being tossed off the school rooftop.
  • Fixed bug that made it impossible to speak to students after wearing a mask and taking it off.
  • Fixed bug that would make it possible to carry a corpse and push a dumpster at the same time.
  • Fixed bug that would make it possible to wear multiple masks at the same time.
  • Fixed bug that made it impossible to hand a weapon to a mind-broken slave.
  • Fixed the floating pair of glasses inside…the room we don’t talk about.

Changes

  • Changed the hair color of the corpses at the title screen so that it doesn’t look like there are 5 dead Yandere-chans in the background.
  • Added fire extinguishers to the school. You can’t actually pick them up…yet.
  • Removed the “Warning” scene. It was a bit too…”cringey”.

In Closing

This build would have been available yesterday if it wasn’t for this problem. Please, do not send me an e-mail unless:

  • You’re volunteering.
  • You’re reporting a bug.
  • You represent a company or a publication.
  • You’re reporting someone who is impersonating me.
  • You’re sharing fan art or cosplay.

Remember, every minute I spend reading your e-mail is a minute I am NOT developing the game. You don’t want to delay the game, do you? Then, only send me an e-mail me if you have something extremely important to say.

Thanks in advance!

Please Do Not Send Me Suggestions

As I’ve said numerous times, the biggest problem facing Yandere Simulator’s development is the fact that I receive dozens, often hundreds of e-mails every day.

I’m not sure why, but today, I received 150 more e-mails than I usually do. Needless to say, I didn’t write a single line of code for the game today, because I was reading e-mails all day long.

So, what were these e-mails about? Almost all of them were suggestions. As I have stated many times in the past, I do not want to receive suggestions.

99% of the time that I hear a suggestion, it…

  1. Has already been made before.
  2. Is already a planned feature of the game.
  3. Does not fit in with the design of the game.
  4. Is far beyond the scope of a one-man indie game with no budget.

After developing this game for 23 months, I’ve heard almost every possible suggestion. It’s pointless to send me suggestions at this point in time.

If someone sends me a suggestion, I read the first sentence and then delete the e-mail immediately. Depending on how many e-mails I receive, an entire day can be spent just deleting stupid e-mails. Because I’m not even going to bother to read the full text of your e-mail, sending me suggestions is not only a waste of my time, but your time, too.

If I ever want to receive suggestions, I will ask for them.

Remember,

Almost all of the e-mails I received today were from people who wanted to suggest a way for the gaming club to become a real club. And almost all of them made the exact same suggestion. And not only that, but it was a really stupid suggestion, too. This is extremely frustrating.

You know how sometimes a build gets delayed for 24 hours? It’s because of the people who cause me to lose entire days of my time by filling up my e-mail inbox with foolish e-mails.

I couldn’t finish getting through all of my e-mails today. I actually still have over 100 e-mails to go through. I’ll probably spend all of tomorrow reading them, so that I can finally return to working on the game the next day.

The next update will not be as impressive as it could have been, because I had less days to work on it, thanks to all the e-mails I have to go through.

In other words: If you e-mailed me a suggestion yesterday, you officially contributed to making the next build worse. Great job.

YandereDev, YandereDev! Why don’t you just hire a secretary?

Worst. Idea. Ever.

  1. I don’t want to babysit a secretary until they’re doing their job properly.
  2. I don’t want to risk the secretary responding to questions incorrectly and spreading misinformation.
  3. I don’t want to risk the secretary filtering my e-mails incorrectly and failing to send me important e-mails.
  4. I don’t want to risk the secretary being lazy and going through e-mails so slowly that I’m better off doing it myself.
  5. I don’t want to risk the secretary seeing spoilers or other confidential information and then talking about it on social media.

To put it simply, I only trust myself to handle the task of checking my e-mail and responding to questions / corresponding with volunteers. I don’t want to risk someone else screwing things up.

Don’t e-mail me with questions. Don’t e-mail me with your character ideas. Don’t e-mail me with requests for the game. Don’t e-mail me with suggestions for the game. And, for the love of all that is holy, DO NOT e-mail me with your thoughts on my e-mail situation.

Club Benefits in Yandere Simulator

3/16 Edit: Please read this.

I’m sorry that it took so long for this build to become available! I discovered a critical bug, and had to postpone the build until it could be fixed. But now it’s ready!

In a previous video, I introduced the concept of clubs, and described the process of joining clubs and quitting clubs. In the latest build, all club benefits are now functional. In this video, I describe all of the different benefits that are granted to the player by the game’s various clubs.

Scroll down for a formal list of all club benefits and also a list of bug-fixes and additions in the latest build.

Club Benefits

  • If the player joins the Cooking Club, they gain the ability to make snacks and feed them to students in order to gain a reputation boost.
  • If the player joins the Drama Club, they gain access to silk gloves that will keep their fingerprints off of murder weapons and masks that will hide their identity.
  • If the player joins the Occult Club, it will take longer for students to become alarmed when Yandere-chan is armed, bloody, or insane, and her Sanity will drop far less when committing murder, enabling longer kill streaks. (Killing animations are currently not sanity-specific, but one day, they will be).
  • If the player joins the Art Club, they gain access to a painter’s smock that will prevent the player from looking suspicious when splattered with blood.
  • If the player joins the Light Music Club, they gain access to a cello case that will allow them to transport 6 dismembered body parts and a large weapon discretely.
  • If the player joins the Martial Arts Club, they will automatically win all physical confrontations against students.
  • If the player joins the Photography Club, they will gain extra functionality for their camera and will not be considered suspicious when photographing students’ faces.
  • If the player joins the Science Club, they will gain access to a tiny robot that will clean up pools of blood and bloody footprints.
  • If the player joins the Sports Club, they will run faster and will not be considered suspicious when carrying sports equipment.
  • If the player joins the Gardening Club, they will not be considered suspicious when carrying gardening tools.

On that note:

  • Joining any club will now cause a club-related accessory to appear on Yandere-chan’s head or neck.
  • Club members now stop wearing club-related accessories (choker, bandana) when the club closes.

Bug Fixes and Additions

  • Replaced two copyrighted tracks with music by The Kira Justice!
  • If a real-life band lets me use their tracks in Yandere Simulator, a little “Now Playing” box will appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen when their track starts playing.
  • Attempted to fix the bug that would cause Kokona to speak after being killed if she was killed during an event.
  • Modified the appearance of the delinquent girls to make them less derivative of previously-existing characters.
  • Changed the color of the shadow that falls over Yandere-chan’s face as she loses sanity.
  • It is now impossible for blood pools or bloody footprints to appear on staircases.
  • Students will now react to the sight of Yandere-chan carrying the Ritual Knife.
  • Added two new weapons to the game: the baseball bat and the shovel.
  • Added seven new hairstyles for Yandere-chan! These hairstyles were created by the extremely talented Druelbozo!
  • The “painter’s smock” character model was added to the game thanks to help from Saracen!

What’s next?

Now that clubs are fully functional (barring any future additions or adjustments) I’m ready to return to my previous task: implementing all rival elimination methods. I’ll aim to implement at least two new ways to eliminate your rivals in the next build!

Thanks for following the development of Yandere Simulator!

New Build Coming Soon

Edit: I’m uploading the new build right now! Only about 15 minutes to go.

I always try to upload a new build of the game on the 1st and 15th days of every month, right when the clock strikes midnight (in the PST timezone). The next build won’t be ready within 3 hours, but it should be ready within 27 hours!

Before I get back to work, I wanted to share some fan art with you:

One last note: If you’re new to Yandere Simulator, please keep this information in mind.

Okay, time for me to get back to work! See you again very soon!

March 3rd, 4th, and 5th Bug-Fixing Build

Updated again on March 5th to fix ten more bugs.

Updated on March 4th to fix the “Students permanently freeze when you aim a camera at them” bug.

If you’re looking for information on the latest feature to be added to the game, click here!

I play Yandere Simulator using a controller. I almost never play the game while using a keyboard+mouse. When I implemented the cello case, I made it possible to equip and un-equip the case using a controller…but I completely forgot to make it possible to un-equip the case when the player is using a keyboard! Oops! What a huge mistake!

On controller, the D-pad is used to select and drop things that are “equipped” on your body, such as weapons and the cello case. Pressing “Up” on the D-pad to select the cello case, and then pressing the “A” button would drop the cello case.

On keyboard, the 1, 2, 3, and 4 keys are used to select and drop things. The “4” key is reserved for dropping any objects that are attached to your body, such as a cello case.

If these systems prove to be non-intuitive, they may be replaced by superior systems in the future.

I’m going to be busy for most of today, so I don’t have time to fix very many bugs, but the cello case bug will prevent people from being able to properly playtest the “sneak a corpse past the delinquents” feature, so I’m going to roll out a new build just to fix that one bug. Head on over to the Downloads page to grab it!

Scroll down past this gorgeous artwork by Meeps-chan to read a very short list of all of the changes in this new build!

March 3rd Update

  • Added a way for keyboard users to drop the cello case.
  • Restored a sink that had been removed from the school rooftop.

March 4th Update

  • Fixed bug that would cause students to freeze in place when the player aimed a camera at them.
  • Fixed bug that would break “Bad Time Mode” if the player attempted to activate Psychokinesis while carrying a corpse.

March 5th Update

  • The player is not allowed to put down the cello case if there is an obstacle blocking the way (a wall, a person, an item, etc). In order to inform the player whether or not it is possible to put down the cello case, an “X” appears over the cello case icon. This “X” was appearing for the controller menu, but was not appearing in the keyboard menu. I’ve updated the keyboard menu so that the “X” appears whenever the player is not allowed to drop the cello case because there is an obstacle in the way.
  • If a club leader is killed, but the police are unable to locate the corpse of the club leader, the club leader will be described as “missing” instead of “dead” during the end-of-day text sequence.
  • Fixed bug that was causing the game to ignore male arms and only count female arms when the player was attempting to summon something…”totally normal”…in the Occult Club.
  • The camera now follows Yandere-chan’s movements when she is pushing a student off the rooftop or dumping a corpse off the rooftop (instead of staying locked in place).
  • It is no longer possible to give “large” weapons (like the katana and circular saw) to a mind-broken slave. Only “short” weapons (like knives).
  • Fixed bug that was causing pink detection markers to remain onscreen after an NPC was killed by…”totally normal” arms.
  • Fixed bug that would cause delinquents to freeze in place if the player moved more than 7 meters away from them.
  • Fixed bug that prevented any students from spawning if the player brought a mind-broken slave to school.
  • Increased delinquent running speed so that it should be impossible to escape them.
  • Fixed Mai Waifu’s student portrait, which had incorrectly-colored eyes.

Delinquents in Yandere Simulator

Sorry for the delay! The new build is ready. The focus of this build is a new type of character: juvenile delinquents!

This video will tell you everything you need to know about how delinquents operate in Yandere Simulator:

This build contains more than just delinquents, though! Scroll down to read a full list of everything that is different in this build of the game:

Additions and Fixes

  • I noticed that some people enjoy playing the game with the camera zoomed in as far as possible. I think this is a terrible idea, because it gives you a very poor view of your surroundings. I’ve added a new debug command to the debug menu; pressing the “T” key will cause the camera to switch to an “over-the-shoulder” viewpoint when fully zoomed in. Now maybe you weirdos who play with the camera zoomed in will actually be able to see what’s around you.
  • Added a new background track to the game (that means adding 9 versions, one for each combination of atmosphere and sanity). When the schoolday begins, the player has a random chance of hearing the old track or the new track.
  • Fixed bug that would prevent the circular saw from being labeled as a piece of evidence after using it to dismember a girl, making it impossible to avoid the police after using the circular saw to dismember a corpse.
  • Fixed bug that would allow the player to carry corpses even if their Physical Education grade wasn’t high enough, if that corpse had been dropped off of a rooftop.
  • Fixed bug that would prevent gloves from being incinerated, resulting in the police always arresting Yandere-chan even if she had worn gloves while killing.
  • Fixed bug that allowed the player to carry a weapon and a corpse simultaneously.
  • Added voiced lines for the armless demon. I mean, uh…the…totally normal guy.
  • Moved the incinerator to a new location.

Delinquents

  • Placed delinquent characters outside of the garbage disposal zone.
  • Delinquents will shove you away if you get too close to them.
  • Delinquents will raise their weapons and prepare for a fight if they see you wielding a weapon in their vicinity.
  • Delinquents will lower their weapons if they see you lower your weapon.
  • Delinquents will attack you if you get too close to them while wielding a weapon.
  • Delinquents will run up to you and attack you if they see you dragging/carrying a corpse or a body part.
  • Being attacked by a delinquent will result in a game over.
  • Delinquents will not attack you if you are carrying a corpse inside of a cello case.

Discrete Corpse Transportation

  • Added a cello case to the game.
  • It is possible to wear the cello case on your back.
  • It is possible to open and close the cello case.
  • When the cello case is open, it is possible to place body parts or a katana inside of it.
  • Added carry-able trashcans to the game.
  • It is possible to place body parts inside of trash cans in order to carry the body parts discreetly and sneak them past delinquents.

What’s Next?

My currently objective is to make all clubs functional. That’s why I added delinquents to the game; otherwise, the Light Music Club’s benefit (a cello case) would not have seemed very useful. For now, I’ll continue to implement all club benefits. I hope that they will all be operational by March 15th! After the club benefits are all implemented, I’ll return to implementing all rival elimination methods.

Next Build Coming Soon

EDIT 2: I’m sorry it’s taking so long! I keep on running into problems when trying to upload the build. Hopefully we’re less than 15 minutes away.

EDIT: Video’s done, build’s done, just have to upload now. We’re probably less than an hour away!

I always try to upload a new build of the game on the 1st and 15th days of every month, right when the clock strikes midnight (in the PST timezone, that is). Sadly, I won’t be able to upload a new build within the next 3 hours, but I feel very confident that it will be ready within the next 48 hours!

I don’t want to leave you empty-handed, so I’d like to share some kick-ass artwork with you!

First up, we have this chilling illustration from the artist known as 132!

If you’re hungry for more, check out this gorgeous masterpiece from the godlike ginkirikirikiri!

If you’d like to see something with a few less demons, then feast your eyes upon this absolutely beautiful artwork from tiribrush!

She’s drawn so much awesome Yandere Simulator artwork that it’s hard to pick a single illustration to show you, so just go check out everything drawn by Meeps-Chan!

There was a certain image that I was going to share with you all when the dismemberment feature officially returned to the game. The dismemberment feature is currently over 50% implemented, but still requires a lot of work. It might be a long time until the dismemberment feature is 100% implemented, so I’m just going to let you see the promotional image in its full glory right now. It was illustrated by the talented Srealms!

I hope that you guys are going to enjoy the next update! For every day that it’s delayed, I’ll post a “sneak peek” screenshot on Twitter…in an ideal world, I won’t have to post any screenshots, and can just be post a new build and new video about 27 hours from now. Here’s hoping!
