Four characters from Yandere Simulator – Ayano, Hanako, Info-chan, and Taro – are now playable characters in Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals! In case you’re not familiar with it, Monsters & Mortals is a multiplayer game where characters from the Dark Deception franchise battle each other in nightmarish mazes! Monsters & Mortals has crossed over with a lot of big-name franchises – like Silent Hill – and it’s an absolute honor to be the latest developer to join the party!
I’m really, really happy with how the DLC turned out – seriously, the Akademi school environment looks absolutely amazing, you really need to see it – and I hope that a lot of people are going to check it out!
At the time that this post goes live, I am currently joining a live stream where I’ll be playing M&M with the developer of the game, along with a few special guests who you’ll probably recognize! Join us and take a good look at the DLC!
Yandere Simulator is having a crossover with another indie game! The official announcement regarding the release of the crossover is coming soon. It might cause a lot of new players to come and check out Yandere Simulator for the first time!
Because it’s possible that a lot of new eyeballs will be on Yandere Simulator in the near future, I want to make the game as presentable as possible so that it makes a good impression on all the newcomers. Usually, I only update the game on the 1st and 15th days of every month – but the current build has some embarrassing bugs in it, and the crossover announcement is probably happening before July 1st, so I’m just going to go ahead and release the July 1st build a few days early, right now, on June 28th.
This is fine by me, since the next task I want to work on is really complex, and might take multiple days of work to be implemented. I probably wouldn’t be able to finish it by July 1st, so I really don’t mind releasing July 1st’s update today.

I’ve prepared a new build for you. It’s mostly about bug fixes and improvements, but it does contain one significant new feature, which I hope will improve your experience.

There weren’t any major game-breaking bugs in the previous build, but there was one really obvious glaring typo that I knew I was going to get dozens of reports about, so I’ve decided to just upload a new build that fixes that problem and also makes a handful of other additions/improvements/fixes.
This is the part where I usually say something like “Scroll down past this gorgeous illustration by so-and-so…” but today, you’re getting something a little different.
Today, I was delighted to receive some fan art from miserable honey, who was aware of an obscure piece of trivia about one of Yandere Simulator’s characters – a tragic event that occurred during Megami’s childhood.
What’s going on in the left half of the image? Well, to be honest, it’s quite morbid, so I’ve censored it. To see the uncensored version – and to hear the “lore” behind the picture – click “Continue Reading.”
I’ve decided to write a blog post spelling out exactly where we’re at with that checklist, and assign priority to each of the remaining items on the checklist. If you’re interested, scroll down past this gorgeous artwork by haihondaitaoand click Continue Reading!
There was an aspect of the game that I thought was working perfectly, but it turned out that it actually had a problem. Unfortunately, the problem only manifested itself after exporting a build of the game – not while testing the game within the Unity editor – so it took me a long time to recognize and fix the problem. The problem was the “Accept task, go home, can’t finish task on next day” bug. It should be fixed now.
Also, there was another issue that a lot of people were complaining about. Many users were reporting the inability to create a bikini in the Sewing Room, which is essential for completing Chigusa’s task. This is another one of those “It works fine for me, I don’t understand why it doesn’t work for you” type of bugs. I haven’t made any attempt to fix the bug – because I still have absolutely no idea what causes it to happen – but I have added a new debug command that grants the player a free bikini, so that if you somehow encounter this mysterious bikini bug, you’ll at least have a way around it.

I feel bad for making this blog post, because my previous blog post was a pretty important one, and now I’m pushing it down the page, robbing it of visibility. Before I discuss the new build, I want to remind you that I’m going to be posting concept art on my Patreon for 30 days in a row! If that sounds interesting to you, click the link to learn about it!
With that out of the way, time to discuss this new build…
A lot of people were reporting a problem: They were not able to use the sewing machine in the Sewing Room to make a bikini or a scarf. I think I know what the problem was; the “make a bikini” button prompt and the “make a scarf” button prompt were extremely close to one another, which made it very difficult to select the one you actually wanted. (Well, I suspect that was the cause for about 50% of the bug reports. As for the other 50%, I think that many players didn’t realize that if you want to sew the bikini, you have to walk over to the fabric rack and grab some fabric first…)
Because more than half of the bug reports I was receiving were about this one singular issue, it was worth it to upload a new build way ahead of schedule just to solve this one issue, since it was clearly impacting a lot of people. With that said, this build also contains a lot of other changes, as well. To read a list of everything that was changed in the latest build, scroll down past this adorable artwork by blue nori snow!
I’ve said this many times, but I feel really bad that I rarely post anything on my Patreon page. Whenever I think about it, I arrive at the conclusion that my patrons would probably want me to work on the game rather than spending a bunch of time preparing supporter-exclusive rewards, so I usually put the Patreon out of my mind. However, I feel way too guilty about it to just ignore it for any longer.
I’ve decided to challenge myself to post on my Patreon 30 days in a row, starting today. For the next 30 days, I will be sharing never-before-seen concept art there. There will be a very wide variety of images shared; everything from cutscene storyboards to concept art for easter eggs. A lot of it could be considered “development trivia” – information that gives you a look into the behind-the-scenes work that gets done in order for new content to be added to the game.
(For example, did you know that we actually designed a Shinigami for Yamiko, the protagonist of the Life Note manga? She’s featured on the back cover of each book, but I’ll be sharing front/back views of her on Patreon so that you can see what the entire design is meant to look like. This is just one example of what I’ll be posting on Patreon over the next 30 days.)
Today’s concept art is a series of logo designs that were created for Yandere Simulator several years ago. In the end, none of these logos were actually used, but I still think that they’re all really cool and fun to look at. As a bonus, there are also some logos for “Yanderu Software,” which was the name I was contemplating using for the team developing Yandere Simulator, and some drawings depicting possible designs for a “LoveSick” logo that might have been used if I had decided to go ahead with my plan to rename the game to LoveSick.
(I won’t be posting a blurry screenshot on my blog once per day; this is – probably – going to be the only one.)
“YandereDev, YandereDev! There’s a bug in the latest build!”
I know; I’ve received some bug reports, and I’m currently in the process of reading through them all. If any critical game-breaking bugs are reported, then there will probably be a new build coming soon, within the next 24 hours or so.
The focus of this update was to fix bugs, remove exploits, and polish things that look janky. In that regard, it’s an especially big update – there is a HUGE number of differences between this build and the previous build: 15 improvements and a whopping 80 bug fixes. That’s right, EIGHTY bugs fixed! Man, it was a ton of work…but it’s necessary stuff that has to get done.
“What? Just bug fixes? Nooooo! I want to see progress on the pre-crowdfunding checklist!”
Yeah, me too. But if bugs get reported, I have to fix them. I’ll continue working on pre-crowdfunding checklist when I’m no longer receiving bug reports.
I also worked on other things as well, including a new feature that people have been requesting for a long time, but it’s not 100% finished yet, so you’ll have to wait until the next update to see it.
Because I updated so many aspects of the game in this update, I’m kind of worried that at least one or two new bugs got created. If there are any huge problems with this build, I’ll upload a new one as soon as possible.
