Answering 16 Questions for Victorialand5

Hi again! The next build isn’t ready yet, but I’ve got something else for you!

Remember when I made a video where I answered some questions that were asked by a YouTuber named Victorialand5? And followed it up with a second video where I answered even more questions for her? Well, guess what? I did it again!

Check it out!

September Update Status Report

Hello!

I usually release a new build of the game on the 1st and 15th days of every month. However, I won’t be releasing a new build today.

I’ve made around 15 improvements and bug fixes to the game since the last build, so, potentially, I could just release a new build containing those changes…but I feel that the build would be underwhelming, since it doesn’t contain a “big new feature” or a significant amount of exciting new content.

I don’t want to release something that will just make you say, “Oh, that’s it? That’s all? Meh. I don’t really care…” so, I feel like I should just keep working on the game, and not release a new build until I’ve got something I’m proud of that I really want to share with you.

In case you’re thinking, “Hey, wait a minute! Maybe there’s no build today because he hasn’t been working on the game, and hasn’t made any progress at all!” I’ll post a video of my recent progress on my Patreon, just to pre-emptively kill any potential conspiracy theories that I’m not actually getting any work done.

I have a few more thoughts to share about the subject of recent progress and future progress. If you’re interested, you can scroll down past this cool artwork that was tweeted by Tangsen_Malum!

August 23rd Bug-Fixing Build

Hello!

There were some bugs in the previous build that weren’t absolutely crippling, but would definitely inconvenience any players trying to play some of the game’s side-modes, so I’m releasing a new build with those bugs fixed. It’s kind of a large build – around 14 improvements and 30 bug fixes!

August 15th Build

EDIT: There was a critical problem in the August 15th build – it was impossible to receive Tasks from students. A new build has been uploaded with this bug fixed.

Hello!

I’m sorry – today’s build is not a huge build with a major new feature; it’s mostly about bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements.

As you can tell from scrolling down and reading the most recent blog posts, most of my time over the past 2 weeks was spent fixing the various issues that were discovered in the game after the “Big August Update.” This didn’t leave me with very much time to work on anything huge or exciting, so today’s update is rather tame. I’m hoping that this build of the game is extremely stable, so that the next 2 weeks can be spent focusing on “Pre-Crowdfunding Checklist” tasks and not on bug fixes.

August 10th Bug-Fixing Build

I usually only update the game on the 1st and 15th days of every month – but there were a couple of bugs in the most recent build that were actually making some of the game’s content inaccessible, so I’ve decided to release a new build where the bugs are fixed.

To read a list of everything that was added/changed/fixed/improved in the latest build, please scroll down past this super-cool artwork of a male version of Megami drawn by Izumi! (The art style is supposed to resemble the art style of “Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan” – the game franchise that inspired the rhythm game osu! and also the character of Ryuto Ippongo.)

August 3rd Bug-Fixing Build

Note: By making this blog post, I am pushing the previous one downwards and out of sight. That’s kind of sad, since the previous blog post was important, and I was hoping that a lot of people would get to see it. Please give it a look!

There was a bug in the previous build that had a pretty significant impact on the game’s framerate. I felt really bad about this, so I’ve decided to upload a new build where the bug is fixed.

(In addition to that, I also made a ton of script optimizations that might result in this build giving you a higher FPS than any previous build of the game! I’d be interested in learning if you notice vastly improved performance in this build!)

More Previews of Upcoming Content coming to Patreon

I’ve said it so many times over the years that I probably sound like a broken record, but I’ll say it again: I feel incredibly guilty that I rarely post anything on my Patreon. I worry that taking the time to prepare content for Patreon would cut into the game’s development time, resulting in less progress – which is probably the opposite of what my patrons want – so I actively avoid posting things on Patreon.

I often think of sharing previews of upcoming content on Patreon, but then I start second-guessing myself. “Maybe this upcoming content is too important to reveal on Patreon! It would be a spoiler!” or “Maybe this upcoming content is too trivial to be of anyone’s interest! The patrons would hate it if I wasted their time with this!”

The result is that I get paralyzed with indecision and just neglect to post anything on my Patreon, which probably disappoints the people who are kind enough to be financially supporting me. With that in mind, I’m going to try my hardest to post “previews of upcoming content” on Patreon more often, as long as whatever I’m posting is not a major spoiler. I can’t commit to post once per day – like I did in June – but I’m going to start taking my Patreon a lot more seriously than I have been up until this point in time.

So, what am I showing off in the latest Patreon post? Well, in the next build, 3 of the game’s oldest animations are going to be replaced…and on my Patreon, you can see a preview of what the new animations are going to look like!

One cropped frame is all I’m willing to show you here! You’ll have to go become a patron to see the rest!

If you have any ideas for content I could provide on my Patreon – that wouldn’t cut deeply into development time – please write your suggestions in the comments below!

August 2nd Bug-Fixing Build

There were some bugs in the previous build that weren’t absolutely life-ending, but were inconveniencing enough players that it was worth releasing a bug-fixing build to address them.

If you’ve reported a bug that wasn’t fixed in this build, don’t worry – just wait for the next build.
