June 28th Bug-Fixing Build

I usually try my best to upload a new build of the game and a new video on the 1st and 15th day of every month. July 1st is coming up soon…but I won’t be available to update the game on that day. I’m traveling to Los Angeles on June 29th, I’m taking the day off on June 30th (since it’s my birthday), I’ll be at Anime Expo from July 1st ~ July 4th, and I’ll be returning to my home on July 5th. Today is my last window of opportunity to upload a new build of the game, so that’s what I’m going to do!

To read a list of all the changes in this new build, scroll down past this gruesome-yet-gorgeous illustration by Ologica!

Changes, Fixes, and Additions

  • Fixed bug that would cause the “Before Class / Class Time / Lunch Time / After School” text at the top right corner of the screen to be incorrect.
  • Fixed bug that would cause Riku and Kokona’s “holding hands” animation to not play if the player made certain selections in the Settings menu.
  • Fixed bug that would cause a character’s uniform texture to change if Kizana’s stockings were applied to them in Pose Mode.
  • Updated the lip-sync for the torture animation that plays if a girl’s sanity is above 50% but below 100%.
  • Fixed bug that would cause one member of a couple to cuddle the air when their partner was not present.
  • Added a few more YouTuber-related accessories for Yandere-chan. They’re located in the “meme closet”.
  • The radio can no longer be used to distract Nemesis. (She’s too good to fall for a trick like that.)
  • Fixed bug that could cause a voiced line to repeat numerous times when starting the Jojo easter egg.
  • Fixed bug that would prevent a rival’s locker from animating when she opened it to check for a note.
  • Removed button prompts for events that are still in development (at the fountain and pool).
  • Fixed bug that would allow the player to activate the Jojo easter egg during Mission Mode.
  • Fixed bug that would cause a couple to float above a bench when cuddling each other.
  • Added some props to the sewing room (definitely not finished with it yet, though).
  • Fixed bug that made one of the Jojo-related items really hard to acquire.
  • Replace the Jojo easter egg music with more intense music.
  • Fixed a few hairstyles that had physics bugs.
  • Added two new hairstyles for Yandere-chan.
  • Fixed a typo in the credits.
  • Minor fixes (For example, Sakyu Basu’s ring was clipping into the bench where she sits, and she was trying to eat her bento while the lid was still covering the bento…)
  • Attempted to implement a “custom soundtrack” feature. It worked within the game editor, but it doesn’t seem to work in the downloadable version of the game. I’ll try to fix it when I get back from Anime Expo.

Osana Progress?

I’m going to write a blog post about the topic of Osana’s development (and game development in general) and upload it before I leave for Los Angeles. This blog post will contain a 60-second video briefly showing off the recent progress I’ve made on Osana, and will also elaborate on the reasons why she’s taking so long (and what’s being done to make her development go faster). Please look forward to it!

  1. Why we have to do everyhing with the left hand in that game? In addition to the direction of walking(w,s,a,d; arrows not allowed as alternative), carry(r), open(e), decline(q), change weapon(1,2,3,4,5)+run(left shift only, not allow right shift as alternative for no reason). Furtherly there is no room to change controllers anyway(haven’t seen any other computer game not allow to change its buttons). Is there any reason to forcing player to only use their left hand? Sometimes i had to quit just beacuse it gives pain to my left hand as a right hander. Just because you are left hander does not required to use your stuff to forcing people to become left hander. What you trying to do is so nonsense. Espicially when you consider there are genetic prones about it.

    • Pfffft. Games force us lefties to be right handed all the time, think of it as being in our shoes. We won’t stand for this inequality! LEFTIES UNITE!

In all seriousness, remapping buttons would be nice.

      • The hilarity of the complaint is that these ARE right-hander’s controls. It’s taken for granted that your right hand is controlling the mouse. Therefore, your only free hand to use the keyboard is the left.

Though button mapping would be a nice touch, when the game is finished.

    • You DO know this game is no where near finished? In the final game, like in all other games, he WILL do a remapping buttons, but this isn’t a game yet, it’s just a sandbox debug build, so atm he doesn’t care about remapping buttons, so you’ll just have to bare with it.

  2. Why only left? Why we have to use left hand for all? You could also involved right ctrl, right shift and arrow keys defaultly: http://yandere-simulator.wikia.com/wiki/Controls

In the majority of the games, both shifts are available for the same function defaultly. Why did you restrict it to the left shift and left ctrl only? Is there any reason other than you are left hander? Majority of the world are not left hand including most of the viewers of this game. As a right hander, i use both of my hand for different functions in the game even when they are default. Because they give that oppurtunity. But your controllers are forcing to left hand only for no reason.

    • Are you actually stupid? Why are you complaining about not being able to use your right hand, when your right hand should be occupied with the mouse? Or do you prefer to use your thumb and press the shift buttons on the right side? Most of the people I know are right handed, and we all are like this- Most games you will ever come across are built like this, there is no reason to be a special snowflake.
Also, a lot of games don’t let you customize the settings (though I agree, it can be useful in some cases). There is nothing wrong with using the same controls that most other games use, just get over it.

      • Are you actually dumb fuck idiot? First of all most most and most games are customizable and even that one mentioned it will be customizable. Secondly, if shift included in the game, it include both shift in the same manner. Not just left shift, or not just left shift. There are something worng about that games controller. OTher than that, there will be nothing to mention dumb fuck. I do not have any interest no interest to lie about have the controllers of that game uncomfortable for me.

    • Erm, the controls ARE done for right handed people. Your right hand should be controlling the mouse. That leaves your left hand to control the keyboard. Like all games that are controlled with your keyboard and a mouse. If it bugs you that much, buy a controller that’ll plug into a USB drive.

This is a pre-alpha. It’s not complete. It’s nowhere near complete.

  3. Are you actually dumb fuck idiot? First of all, most of the games controllers are customizable and even that one mentioned it will be customizable. 4. It can not be that they complain about the controls of the game when more than a year ago we are waiting for Osana and several of the rivals, or for several modifications that would make the game of Yandere Simulator a jewel more glittering than it already is
