May 2nd Bug-Fixing Build

Hello! I’ve prepared an update that fixes some annoying bugs that people were running into while trying to enjoy the new rival.

(If you reported a bug and it wasn’t fixed in this build, don’t worry – I’ll get around to it in the next bug-fixing build.)

To read a list of everything that was improved or fixed in the latest build, scroll down past this absolutely adorable illustration of Amai drawn by eeennnnenen!

Improvements

  • The “Week Select” feature is now accessible when starting a 202X Mode save file. This is so that you can quickly jump into Amai’s week without having to play Osana’s week first. (There may be bugs with this feature, since I never actually intended for it to exist outside of 1980s Mode.)
  • The remaining 202X rivals’ portraits have been updated.

Fixes

  • In Amai’s stealth mission, if the player mashed the “A” button to instruct the protagonist to climb, the climbing animation would restart each time the player pressed the “A” button. This bug has been fixed.
  • The security guards in the Amai stealth mission were incapable of spotting Ayano if she was just slightly higher or lower in height than they were. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player alarmed the rival while she was waiting under the confession tree to confess, the rival would perform a “changing shoes” animation. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player saved and loaded at any point during Amai’s week, any completed event from earlier in the day would restart and happen again. This bug should be fixed now.
  • If the player gave food to a student, the student would stand still for 7 seconds after they were done talking, which was awkward. This is no longer the case.
  • A debug command was accidentally left in the game; pressing the left ctrl key would skip any currently-ongoing event. This oversight has been corrected.
  • When the player got an achievement for eliminating Amai, the words “Amai Challenge” would appear onscreen. This oversight has been corrected.
  • Due to a bug, four characters in 202X Mode were permanently running everywhere when they weren’t supposed to. This bug has been fixed.
  • When attempting to pause the game during Amai’s stealth mission, the pause screen would not appear. This bug has been fixed.
  • Shoku’s student profile was displaying the incorrect name for the character he has a crush on. This bug has been fixed.
  • When walking up to the door to exit Ayano’s room, the “Exit” text was not appearing. This bug has been fixed.
  • In the “Senpai meets Kizana” cutscene, Senpai was wearing the wrong clothing. This bug has been fixed.

  1. btw i have an unrelated question in the 1980s mode alternative ending when ryoba confesses to jokichi itll say how she eliminated all rivals her reputation etc but i dont understand the emotional trauma part ive tried everything to traumatize him including having him witness the death of all rivals yet it never changes it always says he hasnt experienced any emotional trauma thatll prevent him from entering a relationship what can i do to change that or is it an unavaible feature atp

    • that is/will be a part of the 202x mode pretty sure, the 1980s gifts are bcs people wanted it to be possible to build a relationship with him throughout the game so that was added into 1980s mode for that if i’m correct

  2. YandereDev, the Amai reject events are all buggy, they don’t happen to me, also, the food tasting for me had gone wrong and the student Otohiko was stuck in place after doing the eating animation, also, when you ask for Shoku to change his apperance he would become Kyuji by using his hair but with ponytail.

Also, will you change the students routines in the future? Its very boring seeing all of they just reading even the ones that say they don’t like books, that make feel like a 1980 mode.

    • Everything was basically the same for me I instructed Shoku to have slick hair and he came in a ponytail fortunately it didnt affcted me since I was still able to successfully matchmake them

Amais events played out really awkwardly for me shed skip some events and those that I were able to sabotage played different positive interactions with Senpai even though they shouldve been negative

Andddddd her sabotage event didnt work I followed the checklist even made sure I watched a video of someone else doing it first and nothing happened

      Its unfortunate

    • This was fixed in this build – it was pressing the ctrl key, such as when running or passing time. as for the second point, read the blog post from yesterday.

      • Im still having these problems in the new build which is why I said it LMAOO thanks though

  3. Ive already befriended every student that you can befriend in 202X mode including Shoku but I really wanted to do his new task but I missed out on it since Id already befriended him cant there be some optional setting that requires us to do their updated specific task even if weve already done their place holder task

  4. Mai waifu’s hair clips through the walls of the Home Ec room. Maybe you should make her sit somewhere else like outside to fix that

      • Not at all, all students can have that happening. How is it a glitch? The hair physics of the npcs do not allow the hair to stay stiff to their body when they are sitting, that’s normal. It’s an unecessary suggestion because it can’t be fixed just like that and repositioning for that isn’t a solution because the positions of students change at different time of day.. it’s rather insignificant

  5. For some reason, walking/running into Senpai’s “aura” when he’s standing still works normally, but when you try walking/running into him when he’s moving, you get stuck on the edge of the “aura” zone as if it had a collision box, without the pink effect or animations.

Speaking of collision boxes, half of the counters in the Home Ec Room have odd collisions where you can partially walk right through them, though this is arguably a pretty minor bug compared to the other one.

  6. Yandere dev, in the custom fashion the entire menu is broken, it’s just a mess of different icons.(I have a photo of this bug, but I don’t know how to attach it)

  7. At the end of the game, if you choose matchmaking all rivals, all their suitors would look the same- Also Shoku changes too much, he doesn’t even looks like himself anymore. Its a not very relevant thing tho, but I just wanted to know if in the future you will be contemplating to improve this feature.

  8. hello yandere dev I love this new update with amai you did an excellent job and will you put yourself in the games the “Kizana challenge” after amai week?

  9. just a question is the kizana meets senpai and amai befriend/betray cutscence a placeholder since animated vers look much better

    • That’s not something he can just “do”; he needs to have the assets necessary. You need to understand that people have to first CREATE and work on those assets so that YandereDev will be able to drag them into the cutscenes and complete them. It’s not as easy as just “doing it” like you’re asking.

  10. It would be really cool if you allow us to choose one of the 3 current stealth missions for our rivals in custom mode

  11. friday: when toga peek into the girls’ shower, after finishing, he can’t get down from the bush and starts spinning on the spot

  12. I didn’t see you answer the questions on this post, but I hope you read them, because…

To be honest, Amai turned out to be boring, all she has unique is:

    1 unique way to befriend/betray

    2 special events with senpai

3 in the future voice acting and animation

    4 unique elimination method

The reason why it’s boring is because:

1 she is easy to eliminate.

2 she has few events, very few indeed.

3 she interacts with the club only once in the whole week.

4 she has a unique elimination method, but it is very easy.

5 and as I already said, bake sale week feels VERY strange because the cooking club is just standing in the courtyard and that’s it, and people come from far away and that’s it.It would really be better if students bought food and eat at the tables in the courtyard.

    • Most definitely. It’s sad, and the way she was released with a bunch of bugs that prevented players from testing out her mechanics and actually having a meaningful time playing.

In the end it turned out fine but so much more could’ve been done, I managed to kill Amai in less than a minute by dropping a weapon behind the gym teacher, giggling and then having her pick up the weapon to leave in the faculty room so i could stab Amai. As said before took less than a minute.

I wish the tables all around school were actually put to use, this would’ve been a great opportunity to utilize them.

In the end, everything felt a little bland and identical to the 1980s mode

After testing out the new build though, with all the bugs that bothered me fixed it’s a lot better and I had a lot of fun eliminating Amai.

    • totally agree. I also thing she should have more events with her club. Also I want point the fact that her week reuses the same expelling method as 1989 and the students placement reading books. I mean, some of them can read books, but its so weird read in a random hallway chair 😭

  13. to be honest, I don’t think you should pay for the game. this is a demo, and I have never seen a paid demo. I don’t think many people would buy a game that’s even 50% finished and still buggy.

(this was advice I don’t want to seem rude)

  14. Yandere dev I have a question about the price of the game. U said the game won’t be free anymore and we’ll must to pay 5$ to the 2nd rival (amai) and then it will be more expensive a little bit for every new rivals in the future. Do u ever know the price to the future for every rivals please?

  15. The new cutscenes on Saturdays and Sundays are neither fresh nor interesting, since the maps and situations are exactly the same as the previous ones. ……Are you thinking of giving a new environment in the future, not only for animations and voices, but also for scenes where Senpai meets new rivals or where Yan-Chan and Info-Chan chat with each other?

  16. YandereDev, YandereDev something I would suggest is that opening the door of the garden club without being part of it should be suspicious, if after taking the keys from uekiya/ the leader of the 80s club you open the door and some student sees you you should lose reputation, on the other hand if you are part of the garden club you should not lose reputation for opening the door.

  17. Hey, Yandere Dev! Cheers to releasing Amai! And I have a question. Is it going to be a one-time payment for the game when you begin implementing the rivals?

  18. Speeding up time, whether using the in-phone feature or the one accessed through Yan-Vision, breaks both Amai’s and Senpai’s routines entirely. Almost as if they’ve forgotten what they were programmed to do, and just revert back to Monday’s schedule. I’ve recreated this many times in many different saves, and each time it happens.

  19. YANDEV YANDEV amai wont show up anywhere and is blackened out on the student info thing like shes dead on the beginning of the second week HELP

    • It’s possible that this bug is happening because the game is loading some save data that is not supposed to exist. To fix the bug, you could try resetting your Yandere Simulator save data. I’ll explain the process below.

From the Main Menu, access the Content Checklist.

On the Content Checklist screen, press the “R” key.

This will open a hidden debug window that allows you to completely remove all Yandere Simulator data from your computer: https://i.imgur.com/CTkCW5C.png

Pressing “E” 10 times will delete all your save data and Content Checklist progress, but will also remove save data that is not supposed to exist, which may fix the bug that you’re encountering.

  20. Hey, Yandere Dev! I was thinking, with the new placeholder visual novel cutscenes, could we be able to make our own for our rivals in Custom Mode in the future?

  21. I Found Some Bugs To Report
    1. The 80s Student Council Boys Still Dont Eat Their Lunch In 1980s Mode.

    2. Mai Waifu’s Hair Was Clipping Through The Wall Of Home Ec Room In Week 2 And It’s Possible To Converse Her While Standing Where Her Hair Clips, Causing The Camera Angle To Position Weirdly

    3. The 80s Sports President Is Bald!

  22. Another bug: If you do Amai’s task, get the food, You can feed Amai’s dish to Amai herself and she will say it’s a little salty

  23. when You read Amai’s diary and gossip to anyone about Amai she will say she makes cringy fanfiction even tho it’s for Osana

  24. Hello YandereDev when i start a new game and im in week 1 i check student info and amai is already dead and it really annoys me because i want to try out other eliminations

  25. It’s not challenging at all at amai’s week. I just giggle her into a room and just stab her to death.

  26. I’m just still confused why Amai’s mom in 1980 mode same as in 202x mode. Is Amai’s mother the same age as Ryoba or is that Amai’s grandmother? (or don’t have the new model yet?)

  27. I have discovered an oversight. When the player attempts to swap aprons, the game says the player must sew a pink apron in the sewing club instead of the sewing room
