July 11th Bug-Fixing Build

There were some bugs in the previous build that weren’t completely game-breaking, but were being noticed and reported by a lot of people, so I’ve decided to release a new build with all of those issues fixed.

Multi-Mission Fix

As of the previous build, it became impossible to complete a Multi-Mission that involved killing multiple people by crushing them with a dropped object, because the bucket-weight method was removed, and the air conditioner unit could only be dropped one time.

As of now, it is possible to kill people by dropping a heavy weight on them from the school rooftop – the same heavy weight from the gym storage room that is used to drown Osana in the school pool.

The best way to do this is to arrange a meeting “Behind The School” and then drop the heavy weight from the school rooftop.

To confirm that it’s now possible to kill multiple students with this method, I performed the following Multi-Mission:

It was an interesting challenge, since I had to do some planning / preparation ahead of time (leaving bodybags and a mop near the headmaster’s statue) to pull it off without attracting too much attention. I recommend that you give it a try!

Improvements

  • From now on, when performing a murder that involves the school rooftop (such as pushing someone off the roof or dropping an air conditioner unit on someone) a button prompt will appear to give the player the option of watching a close-up view of the victim’s death.
  • Earbuds feel like a modern invention, but actually, earbuds existed in the 1980s! They were even white, like the Apple earbuds of modern day. The appearance of the earphones available in the 1980s Mode Light Music Club has been updated to reflect this.
  • When drowning Osana, the player’s sanity dropped much more quickly than intended. It now drops at a slower, more reasonable rate that reflects the calm and slow-paced nature of the elimination.
  • Rivals no longer agree to do favors for the player or go to the matchmaking spot unless the player has raised their reputation to a certain number. (The current week of gameplay times ten.)
  • The earphones in the Light Music Club have been moved to another table, since they table they were previously placed on does not appear in 1980s Mode.
  • Added a new render to Teiko’s introduction cutsene, since she was the rival with the smallest number of renders, and she really needed another one.
  • The shoe lockers at the entrance of the school were super low-resolution! It looked awful. Their models and textures have been improved.
  • You can now have the “Void Goddess” instantly kill any student by highlighting that student and then pressing the “X” key.
  • It is now possible to select the strangulation weapons (garrote, etc) as the required weapons for Mission Mode missions.
  • A single new prop has been added somewhere at school. It is perfectly square and mounted on a wall. Can you find it?
  • Rivals no longer agree to do favors for the player or go to the matchmaking spot at lunchtime.
  • The protagonist will now play a short, subtle animation when opening/closing doors.
  • Befriending a student will now unlock their student profile.
  • Replaced the “loose hair” Ryoba hair model with a new one.

Fixes

  • Made a slight adjustment to the positioning of the teacher desk in class 2-2 to attempt to fix the “teacher gets stuck and can’t pathfind back to her desk” bug. However, I’m not sure if I actually fixed it, since the bug happened inconsistently to begin with. Let me know if she still spins while trying to make it back to her seat.
  • I’m not sure how many players actually used the “Save Pose” or “Load Pose” feature, but I fixed a bug that would cause a character to load a completely incorrect appearance if the Save/Load pose feature was used on a teacher, student council member, or bully.
  • If the player attempted to use the “Find Student Locker” bulletin board to find the locker of a student who had not yet appeared in the game, the “locker arrow” would appear and float in the middle of the locker area. This bug has been fixed.
  • Fixed bug that would cause strangulation weapons to teleport to the school fountain if they were dropped immediately after a strangulation animation, before they had returned to their normal position in the player’s hands.
  • If the player attempted to drop a corpse into the school pool or against a chain-link fence, the corpse would get stuck on an invisible wall and hover in midair. This bug has been fixed.
  • The final sentence of Gema’s task implied that he would be changing his appearance tomorrow rather than the day his task was completed. That statement has been removed.
  • If the player attempted to attack a teacher with a garrote weapon, the player’s attack would be countered, but the animation would not play. This bug has been fixed.
  • Fixed bug that would cause a completely stationary air conditioner to be recognized as a lethal object that should instantly kill students upon touching them.
  • If the player tried to attack Osana while she was mourning the death of Raibaru, the strangulation animation would not play. This bug has been fixed.
  • It was possible to hand a garrote to a mind-broken slave, which would cause them to use the garrote as a stabbing weapon. This bug has been fixed.
  • I accidentally left some debug commands accessible in Yanvania and Magical Girl Pretty Miyuki! Oops! Those debug commands have been removed.
  • Fixed bug that would cause a “walking on grass” sound effect to play indoors when the player was beginning to walk up a flight of stairs.
  • Fixed bug that would prevent some of the delinquent girls from being able to sit at their designated lunch spots during Sumiko’s week.
  • Fixed bug that allowed the player to put objects larger than weapon bags (bleach, water cooler, human torsos) inside of weapon bags.
  • If the player attempted to use any strangulation weapon to kill Nemesis, the animation would not play. This bug has been fixed.
  • The 1980s “pool photoshoot” cameras were appearing in 202X near the school pool. This was an accident. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player used any strangulation-based weapon in Mission Mode, the wrong sound effect would play. This bug has been fixed.
  • Due two a bug, two characters would attempt to eat lunch sitting in the same seat in 1980s Mode. This bug has been fixed.
  • Fixed bug that made it possible for a dropped item to fall through the ground if the game’s framerate was low enough.
  • Fixed bug that would allow the player to move the air conditioner around after dropping it from the school rooftop.
  • Fixed bug that allowed the player to put any object with an open flame (candle or bunsen burner) into a weapon bag.
  • If a student carrying an object spotted a corpse, the student would not drop the object. This bug has been fixed.
  • Adjusted the placement of props in the gymnasium backstage area in order to prevent certain pathfinding errors.
  • Fixed bug that made it possible for time to be sped up during the cutscene where Senpai meets Amai.

  1. Yandere Dev I have an idea to make the rivals from the eighties much harder to eliminate.
    1) Firstly, yes, there are people everywhere in the school, but when a rival goes somewhere; they pass through the corridor, and if you just distract them with a laugh next to the room, then they can be killed without difficulty, so adding people to the rooms into which the rival can enter if the player uses the distraction wakes up good decisions. (With the third rival, it’s very bad; either you can laugh in the student consuls’ room and kill her bc she reads books in the library.)
    2) I think there should be people in the toilets as an example of Osana, who has witnesses inside the toilet at lunch time.
    3) I think that all rivals after the fifth should not pick up weapons. Ai has a concert, and she simply cannot waste her time just to carry something. For the seventh-best student, it would be humiliating to pick up a weapon and carry it because she is the best student, so she has the right to ignore the weapon. For the eighth rival, she tries too hard to look like the best wife, so she would not pick up a weapon, or it might show her unwomanly. The ninth is similar to the fifth, and the tenth suspects that there is a murderer in the school, so she would not pick up a weapon, or she is not that stupid, and would realise they just want to distract her with weopen or blame her for murderer, and the tenth rival would not put her bento in her bookbag (okay others, but she’s a detective).
    4) The sixth rival should be pursued by students, or she is a singer. The seventh rival is the best student, so she should have a bunch of pursuers who want to be like her

    (I really like the idea of 1980 mode and rivals too so it makes me happy see you trying to make them hard!)

    • This is a good suggestion, I really like it. I agree that the second half of the game should be amped up quite a bit, and the suggestions you gave regarding dropped weapons is a good idea! Hopefully YanDev sees your comment.

        Thank, you for reply and I think it would make game much more hard and intresting bc of course you can use same mechanic for first rivals (1,2,3,4) but making rivals behave differently from first ones would make people try other strategies and learn more about this game….I really want to have events with 1980 mode rivals in future.

  2. YandereDev, how about add these things to the game? And fix some bugs.
    Bugs:
    1. “eternal Sunday”. Sometimes I stay on Sundays for 4-5 times. You can receive more money than usual or read manga faster. If you skip it (only if you play this Sunday before), you will skip Monday too. What means, you can’t do some methods of elimination. Please, fix it.
    2. Please, fix save/load. There is too many bugs…
    Things that you can add to game:
    1. I think it’s stupid that a player can pump physical strength while sitting at a desk, right? And that gym teacher is just for show. How about to add P.E. lessons for 1 or 2 class each day? Like, On Mondays class 1-1 goes to P.E. lesson, on Tuesdays class 1-2, on Wednesdays classes 2-1 and 2-2, on Thursdays class 3-1, on Friday class 3-2. I know, I know. If this thing will be in game, player can steal something in faculty room. Well, teacher which class is in the gym, will patrol room, if no classes have P.E. lesson, gym teacher will patrol the room. But some players want to pump PE without P.E. lessons, so they can do it after class time, like in library. 5 P.E. points per one activity. Of course, you can add some boosts to this.
    2. More mini-games.
    3. JOIN TO BULLIES OR COUNCIL STUDENT!

    • I also noticed that when your sanity is low enough, the audio becomes reverbed, but it restores to normal once you regain your sanity. Probably you had low sanity

I think it would be cool if student saw player doing suspicious behavior while talking with group of students, the other students in group should also notice player and high damage player’s reputation. Also group of talking studwnt should not hear player’s giggle sound because they are busy talking with someone.

  4. I’m in love with the idea of stealth weapons such as the garrote or earphones, however I can also see these being overused in the future as well. I have a few suggestions.

    1. I feel that the strangulation weapons are easily obtainable, which could lead players to favor these weapons and hardly use the others. Perhaps the strangulation weapons should be more difficult to obtain, since they have such good rewards. For example, the stethoscope. Similarly to how you proposed the key to the nurses Cabinet being relocated each week, you could do something similar with the stethoscope to make it more balanced.

    2. There are a lot of options for the player to chose from. Although I agree it’s important for the player to have multiple paths towards the same goal in a stealth game, I feel like there are too many paths, and a majority of them are simple. To balance this, you could make non suspicious items such as the measuring tape only accessible in town, like in the hardware store. Or you could make club based strangulation weapons, like the necklace, an added bonus for joining the occult club.

    3. I haven’t tested this myself yet, but because info-chan doesn’t exist in 1980’s mode, is there another way for the player to obtain the garrote if they choose to use it? I think having it as a drop from the Yakuza could be useful, that way it’s accessible in both modes, but it still requires a bit of work to obtain.

    Sorry this post is so long, I hope this is the right place to leave suggestions for the game. I’m really happy with the features you added, even if they’re just minor ones. It makes the game feel much more alive, and I love it! Keep up the good work, Yandere Dev!

  6. It’s sad to see the OP air conditioner go. It was truly amazing to see the school menace in action. It was good for a short while, but now it’s back to PEAK GAMEPLAY.

    I have a few ideas and I hope you’ll like them. Btw sorry for my bad English xD

    1. Maybe a Bus and a busstation would be nice to drive students to school. Could be used as a spot to kill as well. Maybe adding cars would make more sense but it’s just ideas

    2. Depending on school atmosphere, students will leave the school, because why would anyone go to a school were a murder runs free? Maybe first will leave the cowards because they are afraid and so on until only teacher pets, phone addicted and though persons will be there. This would make it harder to join clubs, matchmaking rivals but will make it easier to kill. Maybe it would be nice to have a journalist like in 1980s mode but he isn’t just standing outside of the school. The principal won’t see a problem this time because he don’t want to make the same mistake he did 1980s. So he will allow the journalist or detective to visit the school ome days per week.

    3. Rivals houses. I thought it would be nice to visit the rivals while their home. Ayano could do some things like kidnap a student into a rivals home and arrest her or make the rival leave the town by disgusting her with Threats or dead bodys of humans or animals (players decision). After Thursday the rival will be full with disgust and leave the town.

    These are just some random ideas I got while playing yandere simulator. I hope you like them. Have a nice day ❤

    • I think that some of those features honestly do sound cool, and I’ve even considered some of them in the past. However, at this point in time, I am no longer interested in planning new features for the game, since it would just extend the length of time that the game will be in development for, and I really want to finish the game and move on to other projects.

I found a type of bug or just something that wasn’t thought of at the time but I was trying to do the Genocide ending with Ryoba (1980s Mode) and had 7 of the rivals put in just for fun and I had almost killed everyone, but still had around 6-7 people left when the game triggered the Genocide Ending I’m guessing it counted the rivals that I added and not the other people still left.

    • You can do genocide ending at week 10 so you won’t have to kill teachers bc for getting genocide ending you need to kill 88 people
      Its work like that because genocide ending is really old ending so it was based of first week with osana (so you just need to kill 88 people ) 🙂

  11. hello yanderedev I have to tell you that when you are inside the school your shoes are normal but if you go out they turn brown

    • This is actually intentional! Notice how the other students originally start the day with their brown shoes, and change them into the white ones? The brown shoes are mean for outside, and the white ones are meant for the inside, which is why it changes as you go in and outside the building. This is very common in Japanese culture for people to take their shoes off before entering buildings and their homes.

    • That’s supposed to happen. In Japan, students have indoor and outdoor shoes. Outdoor shoes are the black/brown ones, and indoor vary depending on the school bet in yansim its the white and blue shoes.

    I just wanted to let you know that saying you hate violence makes socializing with students stupid easy. Like 90% of the students hate violence, so you can just run from one person to another saying “Hey I hate violence” over and over and absolutely RACK up the points. Perhaps more students should have a neutral outlook on violence. Or maybe just going up to someone and saying you hate violence should be considered suspicious, because to be honest it is!

I’ve been following you for a very long time (over 8 years, to be exact!) and am only very recently really getting into creating content, reporting bugs, and commenting on things.   15. (This is the first 2 comment I wrote, here are questions).
    hello Yanderedev and seen the effort you have put to the mode 1989 in difficulty which I looked forward to but I have some questions
    1.Do you plan to increase the difficulty of each elimination method by each opponent?
    There is the same difficulty in drowning, poisoning, burning, framing, that a slave with a broken mind attacks etc. From the second rival onwards which makes the game very repetitive if someone wants to eliminate all rivals with the same method of elimination.
    2.Will you increase the difficulty in the canonical elimination methods of the rival 7 and 8?
    thinking to the previous question if you decide that only the canonical methods will increase the difficulty then in my opinion that both Teiko Nabatasai and
    Komako Funakoshi need improvement.
    They have the same difficulty in expelling Teiko as Moeko (the second opponent) and by week 8 the player has already maxed out the psychology bar and read all the romance manga, damaging Komako’s reputation by -10 points per student which makes her an easy to eliminate in a di or two.
    3.Could you improve the routines of the 7 and 8 rival?
    Teiko and Komako are like the faces that represent Akademy High to the world, one is super intelligent, beautiful, communicative and the other wants to help everyone have a better day with her way of being making her the most charitable person admired, her current routines do not reflect her stories well and transfused in Akademy

    • things in her bag so that every day is more difficult as on Monday and Tuesday Allan more people in her living room and after her second call to counseling Teiko realizes the pattern and take actions to prevent that from happening or catch who is incriminated in the act as:
      .have someone always watching your bag
      .carry it with her everywhere.
      Leave it in one place so you can catch the culprit with your hands in your purse
      .check every number of minutes your bag or in case you lost sight of it for a moment in to make sure that Allan implanted nothing suspicious and if they did get rid of it or you first report it as proof of your innocence.
      .put a hidden camera to find the culprit. etc.
      “the player will have to put together more elaborate strategies every day to get Teiko’s bag and be faster than her in reporting to the counselor”
      3. at the end of the week when she is expelled most students and teachers will believe that she was framed by someone from Akademy they will be more alert the following week and in a small scene at the end of the day to the forces of Akademy Teiko being frustrated and sad finds Komako amusing her that there is someone in Akademy willing to damage the integrity of whoever she wants and to take care of her back just in case and
      that she will now have the full responsibility of being the leader of all the students and wishes her luck alerting Komako a few moments before meeting Jokichi and falling in love with him that weekend.

      KOMAKO

      1.Komako, being alert for what Teiko told her last week, will try to get along with everyone so as not to be a next target “talking to everyone, spending time with each social group and trying to be as perspective with everyone “and therefore everyone will treat her as a goddess who helps everyone to be in good spirits and I will care about the social and emotional environment of the Akademy (I know that the option to socialize and gossip will be changed in the near future, the only thing I will say is that it will be more difficult to gossip since many debated or questioned what you say is real or not, depending on the level of respect or perspective you have To her )

      4.Another way to improve gossip against Komako is to have a camera and cause her uncomfortable scenarios with traps to take photos that we can make her look like a bad person (an example would be to make her meet a cat sprayed with water paint, take a picture of her photo and tell her that she mistreats animals) obviously don’t catch you taking a photo of her or she will know that you are the one who damages her reputation

      5.Once Komako has -100 reputation there will be a small one where she runs out of the Akademy “cursing her situation, herself and swearing that she will tell them what a lousy institute the Akademy is that does not deserve the prestige it has “and from now on the Akademy’s reputation begins to fall faster than it did before, alerting the last 2 rivals that something is wrong with Academy and that everyone be alert for any suspicious actions “especially with the player since many think that he is indirectly responsible with what happened to Teiko and Komako whether Komako finds out or not” therefore the following eliminations are so joyful since they are to stop suspecting the player and return to see him as a normal student with a good reputation

      • Improve your routines

        first Teiko:
        being the smartest student of Akademy many want to help him improve his grades and learn better therefore Teiko makes the decision to create small study groups and also small conferences of minimum 5 to 10 maximum students to help and practice their teaching skills and when one finishes she immediately goes to the next (always accompanied by her three followers who also help them). to her in organizing them and helping the participants) “study groups happen everywhere in Akademy to try different study environments and see where students are most comfortable and therefore better develop their understanding of the topics” therefore you can be in the gardens, in the rooms that are not classrooms or clubs, on the cherry blossom hill, the rooftop etc.

        now Komako:

        unlike Teiko, Komako is not looked for, she is the one who goes directly to talk to everyone one by one and with social groups to know that everyone is fine and from time to time to pray something quickly in the small temple of the Akademi where you can listening to how she talks to herself and wishing for various things (maybe more fits but that depends on what religion Komako is) and she continues to be followed by the 4 rainbow girls and you must occasionally have a rainbow boy like her dry friends who would never speak ill of her anymore I know if they are true good friends. Her routine will change if she starts to lose reputation, first she will talk to others in a more sincere and emotional way, then she will go out looking for who is damaging her reputation and asked for clues and more and more desperate for each time she loses -20 reputation to send or rather ask your friends for help to find the culprit walking or jogging all over the Akademy and like talking to the teachers about what is happening and praying that this stops in the small temple of the Akademy.

        After writing all this I would like to read what you think of everything mentions Yandere Dev and anyone who reads this, suggestions for difficulties and routine improvements. are they crazy? They’re possible? Or did you already have something planned regarding all this and you have it a secret?

  16. im having trouble on the following and kidnapping part of the tutorial… i did everything kokona said but i always end up killing the victim instead… what am i doing wrong??

    • Just to make sure, here are the steps…
      1.) grab the syringe.
      2.) grab the sedative. (both are on the table)
      3.) hide the syringe in your clothing (you can do this after step one or have it automatically happen by grabbing the sedative)
      4.) talk to your victim, ask them to follow you.
      5.) bring them into the storage room.
      6.) close the door.
      7.) get BEHIND the victim.
      8.) drag them into the music case.
      If you mean outside the tutorial, just normal gameplay… (these steps can be moved around a little bit.)
      1.) get a syringe and sedative. (both are in the nurses office, syringe is on the desk and the sedative is in the cabinet. You need to give a student headache poison during lunch and wait for the nurse to open it.)
      2.) increase biology to rank 1. Without low-leg, it takes two days, and with low-leg, it takes one. You can also join the gaming club and get a TEMPORARY rank 1 biology. It only lasts the school day.
      3.) choose a victim, make sure it’s female. The game doesn’t allow you to kidnap males.
      4.) bring them to the storage room, located in the gym.
      5.) close the door.
      6.) get behind the victim.
      7.) after attacking, put them in the music case.
