October 19th Bug-Fixing Build

Seems like all of the critical bugs have been fixed at this point, and the remaining bugs are just inconveniences / oversights. Progress!

To see a list of everything that is fixed or changed, scroll down past this chilling artwork of Ayano by The-Ghost-Of-Luck, drawn shortly after I added the “flick a lit match at a girl covered in gasoline” feature to the game!

Fixes and Changes

  • Fixed bug that would prevent a male corpse from entering the appropriate pose if the player killed a male student by crushing them with a bookcase. (I never expected you guys to try killing random male students with the bookcase just to see what would happen…)
  • Fixed bug that would cause Ryoba to recieve a “text message” from Info-chan (scribbled on a notepad) if she took a photo with a camera from the Photography Club and then pressed the button used for sending photos to Info-chan.
  • Fixed bug that prevented Osana’s suitor from changing his appearance after the player told him what to change about himself.
  • Fixed bug that prevented the names of your targets from displaying on the pause screen during a Mission Mode Multi-Mission.
  • Fixed bug that caused the child version of the Mysterious Woman to appear on the street in Yandere-chan’s time period.
  • Attempted to fix bug that would result in VHS effects being visible at the title screen outside of 1980s Mode.
  • Fixed bug that prevented the subtitles at the Heartbroken screen from looking correct in 1980s Mode.
  • Fixed bug that caused Yandere-chan’s low-sanity hallucinations to use Ryoba’s hairstyle.
  • Fixed bug that turned all text in the pause menu black outside of 1980s Mode.
  • Fixed bug that gave Ryoba the wrong hair model in the intro cutscene.

  1. I have been watching the progress of the game over the years and it has come a long way, but it still needs a lot of evolution. We all want the game to have a lot of options to make it fun and aesthetically beautiful. But what I’ve been observing these days with the 1980 mode is that what people want is a story to follow, and that’s what you’ve never given us, Yandere Dev. At this point the full game seems like a very distant thing. But I’ll still be here to see how it ends.

    • Uh, not coming at you but… It’s actually a pretty clear story in 1980’s mode. What the full game, Ayano’s timeline, requires is a whole team of people to make the game have all the animations and scenes the true game should have. Which is what the crowdfunding campaign is about. To get those people.

He has been very open and honest about his limitations. Even as far back as 2014 if you look at blogs and videos he has said this wasn’t in his wheelhouse. He is just shooting for his dream.

We can’t even comment on the script we haven’t even read when it comes to Ayano. As we don’t have the full story. Only the bits and pieces, if we knew everything there would be no point in playing. We are also playing a game for free so we really shouldn’t complain, because it clearly is still a demo. Demo’s don’t give you the full story. Otherwise you wouldn’t need to purchase the full game.

Are you okay as well? That was kinda abrasive considering everyone who worked as hard as they could for Ryoba’s game to be as amazing as it can be. Even WITH the limits facing them. The VA’s, modellers, YanDev, Cameron305, and Mulberry Art put their heart and soul into Ryoba’s story.

This isn’t something that can be rushed. Look at Cyberpunk and tell me it’s a good idea to rush things. The people at Cyberpunk said it would take years for it to be ready, we probably would’ve had a similar wait period to YanSim, but greedy corporate decided they knew best.

But I get it. Lockdown is hard, tensions are high, the world is a mess and you might be stressed. Seeing as we’re all cooped up with nothing but the internet. It might be good to take a break. Take a me day! You deserve to relax when you feel this stressed over a game.

Read a book, write, draw, watch a movie, treat yourself, video call with friends, or even take a walk if it’s safe to do so. You are valid and you deserve to relax. Take a break and the internet will still be here when you get back. Again, not coming at you, just concerned over the unwarranted hostility.

      • I wanted to say that for so long. Yandere Dev, you deserve a break. You work non-stop, only taking a three-hour break per day. Please don’t overwork yourself. We’re going nowhere.

      • Yeah, people are forgetting he’s only human. Labor works laws exist because a human literally can’t just work 24/7. It effects not only your mental health but physical health as well. Once saw a woman land herself in the hospital because she overworked herself at her office job. He needs healthy breaks and a decent work schedule like we all do. Not to mention that it’s scientifically proven that taking breaks for yourself is healthy and many leading psychologist endorse it.

People are just so cooped up and stir crazy that they’re looking for anything to get mad at. This game is standard development time for Indie Games.

    • How do you expect him to give the story if what we wanted was a PLAYABLE GAME? He was working in these features that let us play all this time, and he can’t share the story he wants without the money to build that up. Of course we are checking the story now that it has it, but just because you were introduced to something new, you’ve become more greedy. Are you disappointed with a new concept just because it finally got its time? You should stay here specifically because it will also include story, YanDev added a bunch of secret lore to the game which you can also check at the original website on the characters’ profiles.

  2. Hey! I found a bug, but i haven’t seen other people havin it 😦
Is in the tutorial, after ryouba kills the girl in the bathroom. She just doesn’t apears, the killed girl, her corpse isn’t there. Instead, there is another girl… but she’s alive lol. Me, as a normal person, killed this alive girl and do what the subtitles told me to do. But once i put her in a trash bag, the subtitles doesn’t goes anymore. I know what i need to do with the bleach and everything but once i clean the blood and carried the body, i can’t get out of the room… beacuse that wasn’t the body that i needed to get riff of.
I wish you could help me 😦

  3. Does anyone else get this problem?: (For Example) The Magazine says Rival likes when suitor has Strength, then said rival is not impressed by the strength when courting, no matter how much you have…Also, I found the Murderer with the Advice (hehe not telling!!! Yandere Dev told me not to!!!)

    • I think some rivals have the wrong text about this choice. For example, 9th Rival want to see courage in her magazine but it didn’t work when I try, but strength work!

so for now, if that suitor didn’t work, just try another.=

      • Yeah I totally agree with you. Also if you don’t want to try blindly all the options you can try to guess based on their personality, and that makes it fun.

    • maybe i’m doing something wrong, but i cant even talk to any of the suitors about their crush. the heart option looks like it’s ”locked” and i dont know how to unlock it

  4. Just wanted to take the time to actually thank you YanDev for everything you have done so far, the game is going to turn out great even if it has certain limitations right now. ❤

  5. I think you should add more things for the player like the player should be able to explore other parts of town without them being the same as the one part just copy and pasted.

  6. I am really sorry if I have missed this in some other comment or build, I am only just recently getting back into Yandere simulator after years. I am currently in the first week in 1980s mode and I’m having an issue. I have had this in both the last build and the most recent. The items I purchased at the shop cannot be used at school. Say condoms or narcotics, they say I don’t have the items, it’s made trying to do the rejection route almost impossible. Any help would be really appreciated ❤

  7. Pretty sure this might be a bug. When you have completed your first week by taking your first rival out, later on in some of the weeks somehow her bag appears to be Osana’s schoolbag in the modern days, not like what the other students had in the 1980s mode, if you mind fixing this bug it would be appreciated!

    • I made an attempt to fix this bug, and it might be fixed in the next build. If not, then I need some very explicit instructions for *Exactly* the circumstances necessary to make Osana’s bag appear.

      • If you haven’t fixed this, here are the instructions I am pretty sure I saw this bug occur when I was in week 7 on Friday, I didn’t notice on the other weeks but how the bug works is that when you go to class in the morning (her bag is like normal in the 1980s, just like the others) Then, when it skips to lunchtime, her bag automatically changes into Osana’s modern day bag when it’s Lunchtime. I hope this is very clear to you, YandereDev 🙂

  8. Yandere Dev i found this bug: rival’s 1st week I increased all chemistry stat on Monday and Tuesday, but I can’t get lethal poison in the science lab on Wednesday morning of 1st week. Because I wanted to put the lethal poison in the rival’s bag and you can’t poison all rivals with this method and you can’t poison Osana’s bento with this method. This bug works in 1980 Mode also in Modern Mode

    • Hey, this isn’t actually a bug. You should obtain the poison in Lunchtime at the science lab, not at the Morning of any week. In conclusion, hope this reply helps you out for the misunderstood statement you have commented. 🙂

  9. When you follow Osana into the shower building to take the phone from her, the phone doubles and you can’t make the scheme “Expel Osana” of day wednesday

  10. Hose Shiruba name is wrong!!
The info says his real name is José Silva. In Japanese the adaptation of the Brazilian name José is Joze (ジョゼ). The surname Silva in Brazilian Portuguese is adapted as Shiuba (シウバ). His name should be Joze Shiuba.

Proof: see japanese wikipedia articles about these Brazilians:
JOSÉ Sarney (ジョゼ・サルネイ), Thiago SILVA (チアゴ・シウバ) and Valdenir da SILVA (バウデニール・ダ・シウバ). To read the katakana in romaji you just have to paste in google translator.

Writing a Brazilian José as Hose is equivalent to pronouncing Jean as Hean or Gina as Hina.

  11. Hey, I’m not sure if you have already fixed this bug, since it happened in an older version, but sometimes people would completely freeze and I wouldn’t be able to talk to them. It would get fixed after I went to class, but it happened multiple times. I’m not really sure of how it got triggered and I can give you more details once I’m able to play the game again, but it has something to do with when I fail on killing a rival (Example: pushing the bookcase when the girl isn’t there)
Hope you can fix it soon, if you haven’t! I haven’t been able to play the game for a while so I really don’t know if it still happens, though I don’t remember seeing it in any of the blog posts.

  12. So, after finishing the game, i have a few choice words.

    – It is WAY to easy to eliminate a rival by calling her to her locker, run behind her as she makes distance between her and her “guards” – example Chigusa Busujima or Sonoko Sakanoue.
    – Kidnaping a girl, is simply boring.
    – I enjoyed diffrent ways “Senpai” reacted to girls, like he actually had a character and he had diffrent reasons to like the rivals not like Taro.
    – Chigusa Busujima’s “guards” are WAAAYYY over the top, filling out the entire corridor. (It was pretty funny though). They should be a little toned down.
    – About the last week. If students are paranoid and carying (XXXX). It doesn’t make sense for the school atmosphere to be so high. Becuse you know… students are PARANOID.
    – I enjoyed the ending, and how the score was judged. – [no pun intented]
    – I can not compare the difficulties of the rivals since i tried to go the easiest way possible – The Yakuza route, and the locker strategy i mentioned earlier, making it really easy to eliminate a rival the first day she came to school. While i welcome the yakuza into the 1980 mode, they just make the game a LOT easier.
    – The game is kind of lacking randomly generated tasks for students (i know, i know, this is just a temporary thing, but hear me out)
    – On the course of the game, somehow i was able to avoid a good number of bugs, which is a plus!
    – Students walking onto their routines usually follow each other making a line. It would be better if they were spread out.
    – Feels a bit unnatural, that only the people at the plaza and the deliquents usually chat with each other. Would make it more lively if students would chat with eachother while walking to an activity / met eachother on a hallway
    – You can run past students while beeing completly bloody, and if you don’t stand straight for them to look at you, they won’t even care. (kinda like payday guards)

Overall all it was quite an interesting experiance. Once i check out all everything else, i will come back, and write more. This is just some things i was thinking durning the game. If i was to rate the game at this stage, i believe it would deserve a 7/10.

(Just to be clear, this is constructive criticisim and a bit of a rewiev! I am not bashing on Yandere-Dev to make him feel bad!)
(XXXX) – are redacted words to not spoil things for others!

    • And one more thing, after kidnaping a girl, i do not see sense in their club beeing closed the same day.
(Also remaining closed after they come back – selling to yakuza) What are they? Psychic?

  13. Idk why this keeps happening (not sure if someone has said it already) but for some reason my save for 1980s mode glitches and says no week number or rival name and the day numbers are all 4. and also the rival is replaced with a male character.

  14. Are you planning to make the 1980s rivals to be a way more harder to eliminate? Right now it feels so easy to kill them. It’s more challenging to play the minigame than the current game sadly. Love your game

  15. Hey yandev I think when you added 1980’s mode and it not having easter eggs or debug commands, when you try to open easter eggs in 2022 mode it dosent work because debug commands are working! ( I know im not the only one having this problem because I saw some other people talking about it) so if you can fix it or attempt to because its really sad 😦

  16. Question:
Now that they’re 10 rivals in the game, do you plan on implementing the ability for the player to kidnap all the rivals and keep them all in Ayano’s basement?

  17. Hey Yandere Dev, I played the game from start to finish and I want to congratulate you on this. I really hope this turns around your detractors. I do hope to see difficulty ramp up on 1980s mode in the future especially on the rival homerooms like students hanging in the room or even teacher other than that great stuff cos currently it is too easy. Whenever there is a kickstarter I will definitely support it.

  18. Save file information is bugged, for example when I start a new 2022 save file, and exit, when I go to the save file select screen, it tells me my rival is Kaguya, when it should be Osana.
