March 2nd Bug-Fixing build

Hello!

Some users reported a bug that was making the corkboard sequence play in the daytime or play in 1980s Mode, which wasn’t intentional. I couldn’t actually replicate those bugs! However, I put in some code to manually force the game out of that situation if it ever somehow happens. I feel that it was important to release a new build with that adjustment as quickly as possible, so here’s a new build.

To read a list of everything that is new or different in the latest build, please scroll down past this outstanding artwork by blue_nori_snow!

Improvements

On a day involving a memorial for a dead student, the Drama Club cannot practice on the stage, and have to remain in their clubroom during their club activity. However, if the player participated in a Drama club activity on such a day, they would see a camera shot of the empty gym, instead of the clubroom. From now on, the player will see a shot of the inside of the Drama Club, instead.

Previously, when the Gardening Club shut down, some metal bars would appear and block the entrance to the club. From now on, those metal bars will be a metal gate. It is possible to lockpick that gate, too. This means that, even if the Gardening Club shuts down, you can still access gasoline (as long as you craft or purchase a lockpick).

There is now a button prompt onscreen to let the player know that they can switch between “Subtle” and “Obvious” aiming. The button is now the Q key (or B button on gamepad).

Raibaru will no longer warn Osana about the smell of nearby gasoline if she is currently busy with another activity, such as returning a dropped weapon to its proper place.

In 202X, the nurse’s cabinet cannot be lockpicked. To communicate this, the button prompt for lockpicking has been changed to “Cannot Be Lockpicked”.

Updated the texture for the statue outside of the Art Club.

Fixes

There was a bug that would cause a female character’s bust to revert back to default size upon becoming a ragdoll (either due to death or being tranquilized). This bug has been fixed.

During a stealth mission, if the player paused the game immediately after exiting Yandere Vision, the player would be able to move while the game was paused. This bug has been fixed.

Previously, it was possible to activate Yandere Vision and pause/unpause the game while watching the “a corpse has been dumped into the sewer” cutscene. This bug has been fixed.

If the player had Yandere Vision active before initiating a dismemberment, Yandere Vision would remain active during the dismemberment animation. This bug has been fixed.

Fixed bug that would cause the “Random Mission” feature to generate a mission that asked the player to kill a target with a weapon that wasn’t available in Mission Mode.

Fixed bug that caused the “Ayano standing in front of corkboard” cutscene to play in 1980s Mode. This was not intentional! It’s only supposed to be for 202X Mode.

There was a bug that was preventing Senpai’s Student Info page from displaying his info outside of Mission Mode. This bug has been fixed.

The new counselor model wasn’t being used in the Memorial cutscene. Oops! This has been fixed.

  1. Personally, I think that the schemes are just too hand holdy. The changes made yesterday were a good start, but I feel like a lot more could be done. For example, I don’t think info-chan should be involved in giving schemes to the player, it should all come from yandere-chans mind. Second, the only scheme avaliable during that school day should be the only one you are giving a scheme for, and if they fail that elimination method, they could choose another one that’s still avaliable. And finally, I think the most important one, the schemes should be a lot more vague. For example, if it tells you to steal osana phone from the locker room, it shouldn’t tell you how to do that, instead, just let the player find out for themselves(they are also taught about tripwire traps in the tutorial). I think these changes would improve new players experience, but also letting them learn about the games mechanics for themselves

    • I doubt that such details as in the form of clarification of the theft of the phone should be. if I’m not mistaken – there is a guide from info-chan how to crank the moment with a basin of water, and what to do next is conditional, logical. follow Osana-chan, and then distract her girlfriend and hold down one button for a second, is it as difficult as you think?
there are also bloggers who can, among other things, help players in Yandere Sim. I figured out the game myself with their help, and doing such small details is not a particularly good idea. yandere sim on that and yandere sim that people should choose for themselves what and under what circumstances to do with rivals! in mode 1980, when eliminating the Hodasima, let’s say a person decides when to dump the closet, and you can learn about laughter or radio from the same people who create guides on YouTube
yandere sim is a huge community of people who can help each other. the same yandere wiki created a discord server, where there is a separate channel to help beginners. if people quit the game due to the lack of a detailed guide on how to properly collect water in a basin and put it on the door, and then run after osana-chan – don’t you think that this is just a lack of interest in the game, and not what yanderedev should fix?

      • at the same time, hand holding saps the fun out of the game. Instead of exploring and learning mechanics from mistakes, you’re being told “Go there, do that, then you’ll end up with this”, which isn’t fun game design.

    • I honestly can’t agree. The reason it was made was to guide new players so they could learn to do stuff and what if a new player finds there scheme to hard and wants to change it?

      • For an example: let’s say my target is Kokona Haruka, and only Kokona, but then for somereason in Yandere Vision members of the Drama club and the clubless students appear in a red outline as well, I’ve seen this appear on others too. But, for another example if I am doing a multi mission and my targets are all of the clubless students only they appear in a red outline.

      • Ah, actually I tried design mission with only Kokona as the target and nothing changed (basicly difficulty level is 1) and only the clubless students are shown with red outlines in Yandere Vision.

    • Yeah but that would require paying modelers and the voice actors for all the cutscenes in the game already. That is a loooot of work and money. I mean some of the animations would even have to be re-tweaked or maybe even redone.

So I see why he set it as a Kickstarter goal in one of his videos. Not that I am coming at you or anything. I am genuinely excited for the day that comes to fruition and I can play as either gender.

      • Ah, I had a couple ideas and I was wondering what you thought?

1.) I was wondering if we could have the lit matches back since we have that throwing mechanic now? That way we could subtly or intentionally throw the matches from a distance. It was a real fan favorite and now with this mechanic in place it seems a perfect time to bring it back.

2.) What about using the lit candle in a door trap, placing it above the door, so it can fall onto the heads of gasoline drenched students? If not I guess they could go to the Nurse’s Office for a burn, since it would give more use to that room and make it seem like our actions have consequences.

3.) Could the car battery have the throwing mechanic as well? So that way it seems like the throwing feature is more coherent. As sometimes we have to aim again because we don’t have a clear arch like we do with the throwing mechanic.

      • That’s why i said “prototype”. Not by using the money assets, but rather with what he has. It wouldn’t be a complete function as Ayano is, but it would be existable. We already have EasterEgg Yan-kun, right? I don’t see why something has to be complete to be added into an incomplete game.

      • Yeah I agree having the matches with the new throwing mechanic would be doped really, I dont even know why they were removed in the first place to be fair

      • I can’t quite recall, maybe at the time it was about balance? Although right now, with the way the game works, I think those problems no longer exist.

      • Can’t reply to your ideas, but I think the throwing mechanic would be nice- just only subtle mode since it’s a heavier object.

    • It’s written “Use the scroll wheel to zoom in on Yandere-chan’s face” as a debug command control but we can still do it without enabling debug commands. Also, do you need voice actors? Because I’ve read all of the information written on the volunteer page for applying and I’d like to volunteer.

    • yess I definitely agree, especially since the 1980s rivals (who are oficial) dont have voiced lines or animations, so I’d personally have no problem with a female Taro that has no lines

  2. Just my opinion but the old model for Genka felt better. The new one makes her seem less strict and the lip sync is less noticeable, her eyes seem less expressive when she gets angry too. Maybe you should adjust the facial expressions on the new model or just bring back the old model and change her textures to make her look more like her official art.

  3. I really appreciate the fix to the gardening club lockpick situation, but a similar thing happens if the drama club is shut down.

In (most specifically 1980s mode) you can never craft a lockpick again if the drama club shuts down which makes doing the Yakuza side thing a necessity

  4. YanDev thx u for fix the bugs, really, but the question still arose – if the voice actors of the characters (yandere and senpai herself) are found in the case of choosing the gender of senpai, and other people who are ready to help, about how much will this be brought into the game, and will the storyline with rivals be changed if senpai chooses the female gender in the future?

  5. Yandere Dev, I think that the schemes are just too hand holdy. The changes made in the March 1st update were a good start, but I feel like a lot more could be done.

    • Well, that’s the point. The entire point is to be hand holdy.

Sometimes, new players play the game and are completely lost; they walk around in circles for a long time, repeating “What do I do? What do I do?” and quit playing shortly afterwards.

The addition of an optional “hand holdy” feature is the solution to that.

Hitman has a feature that’s almost identical. I never hear anyone complain about it.

      • I agree with yandere dev here. The games just way too big and full of options it would either be impossible for people to figure it out or it would take days.

And a feature like this would get players to search up on wikis or use YouTube.

A game should always give directions

Like if you were given directions to the nearest train station sure you know the gist but you still have to do it yourself

Without directions, you would be in the opposite end of the town and miss your date.

I think schemes are a perfect solution to that. It gives you a guide but you don’t have to follow it exactly.

      • Yeah, but they should let tell you EXACTLY how to do something, they should tell you what to do, but not how to do it. The player should use the mechanics taught to them in the tutorial to eliminate the rival

  6. mm… yandere dev, in my opinion people like horuda, occult club should have a different task or at least slightly different dialogues because they would be rather shy people so they should rather stutter

  7. Apologies if this has already been reported (also, not sure if this is a bug or intentional). I usually prefer to play with the outlines turned off, but whenever I do turn them off, the outlines on the Science Club’s members’ laboratory jackets is still visible – https://imgur.com/DeKpqIe

  8. Hi, YandereDev, I have a question,
When the day of memorial of a dead student, why does Ayano standing outside of the gym room, while the others are inside?
    That’s all, thank you.
    ~☺️~

  9. Hi YandereDev, I don’t know but why do I get 8 Study Points on Monday when I attend the class late… I mean why am I getting 8 Points instead of 4 or less than 5 something without any panty bonus or cheats if I attend the class late the π—³π—Άπ—Ώπ˜€π˜ time on Monday morning. Is that a thing or something I don’t know about?? And most of the time when I play mission mode, It automatically loads the last save of my game and I get an instant game over.

    • If you attend class late, you have less time to study, do you receive less study points.

The Mission Mode bug sounds pretty concerning, but I would not be able to fix it unless I received specific instructions explaining exactly how to re-create that bug.

If you just want the problem to be resolved, I have a suggestion.

From the Main Menu, access the Content Checklist.

On the Content Checklist screen, press the “R” key.

This will open a hidden debug window that allows you to completely remove all Yandere Simulator data from your computer: https://i.imgur.com/CTkCW5C.png

Pressing “E” 10 times will delete all your save data and Content Checklist progress, but it has been proven to fix certain bugs that cannot be fixed any other way.

      • Thank you for replying, and about the Study Points, normally the player gets 5 Study Points when they attend the 8:30- 1:00 Class on time on Monday if they don’t use debug or anything but I’m getting 8 Study Points even after attending the Class late and not using any commands.

I didn’t load or save anything or use the pass 30 min to get Study Points and I should be getting 4 or 3 Points but everytime I’m getting 8 instead on 8:30-1:00 Class and 5 Points separately on 1:30-3:30 Class.
