October 22nd Bug-Fixing Build

Didn’t have one for you yesterday, but I’ve got one for you today – another bug-fixing build!

To see a list of everything that was fixed or changed in the latest build, scroll down past this amazing illustration of the Yakuza by Ju5tAB0r3d1!

Fixes and Changes

  • From now on, whenever the player talks to a student about a subject (while socializing, gossiping, etc), the player will “learn” that student’s opinion about that subject (meaning that their feelings about the subject – positive, negative, neutral – will appear as an icon next to that subject in the future).
  • The “Pool’s Closed” sign will now cause everyone except Ritsuko to stop sunbathing at the pool, because Ritsuko is the only person selfish enough to do whatever she wants, even if a sign is telling her not to. (She also says a line of dialogue about the sign while she’s settling into her pool chair.)
  • Previously, the manga in 202X and 1980s Mode shared the same descriptions, despite being completely different stories from different time periods. The manga in Ryoba’s time period now have unique descriptions (when viewed from inside her home).
  • All of Ryoba’s kidnapped victims will now wear a blindfold, because it’s possible for them to return to school (after their parents pay ransom money to the Yakuza) and Ryoba wouldn’t want them to know who kidnapped them.
  • Fixed bug that caused the wrong line of text to display during the court sequence when revising the details of a character’s death if that character had taken their own life.
  • Fixed bug that would prevent the game from saving the player’s reputation if the day ended through any method other than using the “pink portal” to go home.
  • There were some photographs of 202X Kocho inside of 1989 Kocho’s office. Two of these are now replaced, although I still need to replace another one.
  • Fixed bug that caused the Yakuza to pay the player $200 for a student who was supposed to be worth $2000.
  • Fixed typo in one of the school newspaper articles (Wednesday, Week 10).
  • Updated the textures for Aija and the 202X photography club.
  • Updated 202X student portraits.

  1. If Ryoba was born in 1972 and if the year was 2022 she’ll be 50, so you can’t just make the year 202X you have to make present time year 2022. What if the game was finished at 2024? 2026? or 2032 (Not hating, I know you lack assets and resources required to make the game right now) Then Ryoba would be 54 or like 60. Soooo….isn’t the year 2022 the best option?

  2. But when we tell them to follow to that storage, they’ve already known our identity, right? So what’s the point of the blindfold thing?

  3. When I put the sedative into Ritsuko’s bento before class and she ate it, she goes to the infirmary instead of sunbathing…
that means I can’t push her to the pool:(

    • Why did you put the sadative in it? It’s logical that if you put the sadative in her bento she will feel very tired and fall asleep in the infirmary. If you want to do her elimination you have to wait until 3:55 PM and then you can push her into the water pool.

      • I’m pretty sure she falls asleep while she’s sunbathing only if you put the sedative, but maybe I am wrong

  4. I don’t know if it’s just me but whenver I get to 3:30 pm (cleaning time) in yan-chans timeline it doesn’t let me talk to anyone or kill anyone please fix this

  5. Good work YanDev!
    I have a question.
Will you update the characters page to include 1980s mode characters? And will you update the description of Ghost Chan (Sumire) and Saisho Saikou (putting that he is dead)?

  6. Did the bug about the rival where we have to expel them from school get fixed or not. Like it crashes when we do it the normal method but works with the stuff we bought from the yakuza like nar*cotic and it expel them immediately, I’d honestly want the normal method to not crash.

  7. Hey YandereDev! I found a bug in Mission Mode, when you choose which people you are going to kill, the names of the 1980s characters appear. I sent a picture in your email for you to understand better.

  8. i have been encountering a bug so when i try to start a new file on 1980’s mode the tutorial loads just fine but after the tutorial the screen turns black and freezes. what can i do to fix this i have already reinstalled please help

    • I’m sorry to hear about that, but there’s a lot I would need to know to begin locating the problem.

      1. Does the game crash immediately after the tutorial, or does it crash after the blue screen where Ryoba talks about her next rival?

      2. Are you playing on a Windows PC or emulating Windows on a Mac?

      3. Are you using any mods?

  9. Good job on rolling out all these fixes one after the other.

I know there’s a whole blog post about the decision to call it 202X, but it might have made sense to give it the temporary title “2020s Mode”. The lack of consistency between “1980s mode” then “202X”. I know calling both “Mode” might give the wrong impression that they both carry equal weight, but he could write a subtitle on one of the title screens under 2020s Mode saying “The main game of Yandere Simulator” or something, plus it won’t be named that way forever. I know at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter, though, and I’m not saying he should change it, just IIRC he didn’t mention considering calling it 2020s Mode in the blog post, and this whole time I’ve been wondering why.

    • It’s better to have it as 202X so as not to give any impression that the game is DEFINITELY going to be put out in the 2020’s. If we did that, then it wouldn’t be long before people got the wrong idea and started posting all about it.

Just like they did before 1980’s Mode was released. No matter how clearly it was stated people still made videos that YanSim was going to be completely finished. Which confused a lot of people.

It’s better that it’s 202X because it feels less definite.

And YanDev already stated he wants Ayano’s timeline to be in whatever year we are now. So that it can still be with the times yet have technology that’s advanced. So that there’s relatability and the sense we could possibly have that technology one day in the future.

Not coming at you or anything though. Just thought I’d offer an explanation as to why 202X is the better choice.

  10. Hey Yandere Dev, I found a bug with the whole reset week system. I messed up on the seventh week and when I try to reset it, my screen goes black and it will literally stay like that for hours. Please fix this if you can

  11. Yandere Dev i found a bug in this October 22, 2021 update: in the 1st week of the rival I increased all chemistry stat on Mondays and Tuesdays. Wednesday morning I took the lethal poison in the science lab, went into the rival’s bag he won’t let me put the lethal poison in the rival’s bag. This bug works on bag all rival in 1980 Mode

    • I’m sorry, I would need to know more information in order to fix the bug.

Does it only happen when you try to reset the week from the Calendar screen? Or does it only happen when you try to reset the week from the “Heartbroken” screen?

In general, there is absolutely nothing I can do to fix a bug unless I know the exact circumstances it occurred in.

  12. One issue to note, so I went into 2022 mode, and started the game. The tint from the 1980’s mode is there. Is this intentional or did you forget to make it remove the tint when you play as ayano?

    • It isn’t there for me when I play the game.

Is there some specific set of steps that causes the tint to appear?

      Like…

      1. Make a 202X save file, exit
      2. Make a 1980s Mode save file, load into school, exit
      3. Load 202X save file

      Or something like that?

Without specific steps, I can’t replicate the bug.

      • SUGGESTION!

you should make some of them be black not all white it really feels like its just no diversity at all and no, i’m not talking tan i’m talking true colored wise

      • Yo! Here are the steps!
        1. As soon as you enter the game, open a new 1980’s mode save file.
        2. Click quit using the notepad
        3. Open a pre-existing 202X save file
        4. Experience a purple tint 😦

  13. Yandere Dev there’s a few things I really don’t understand in 1980s mode
    I. How come when I bullied the 2nd rival into suicide, it says on the stats screen that the police suspect murder even though she killed herself?
II. I blew up the 9th rival with an explosive device and I couldn’t find her body so I assumed that she flew outside of the school walls. While the police found her corpse (along with two others caught in the explosion) and I was able to progress into the game, how come it said that she wasn’t eliminated on the stats screen?
III. When I was trying to steal the snooty girl’s ring for the expulsion method, it kept saying that someone is watching even though no one was around. When I finally got it to work, I had already reported alcohol and I knew I would get expelled for it, so I kidnapped the snooty girl. However when I ended the day, she still managed to report me and I got expelled. Is this an oversight?
IV: Why are the old fashioned fundoshi and low leg panties’ abilities swapped?

  14. This is so amazing YandereDev! I really love the game and you’re fixing the bug that makes the game cooler to play and literally makes my day happier!

  15. yandere dev, in the future you will add:
    Unique events and dialogs
and a different and unique stealth mission
    for the 1980’s mode rivals?

  16. Hey Yandere Dev, I have two ideas for a mechanics. Since other characters can get bullied, why not let Ayano and Ryoba be bulled as well? My idea is that just like other characters, if your reputation is low enough, you will be targeted for bullying. If you are targeted for bullying. This means the bullies will follow you around, harassing you and causing issues for you. How exactly this is can be up to you, but one of the main issues is that they will follow you, possibly catching you in the act.
    Let me propose an example…
The player, (in this example playing as Ayano) acts a bit recklessly, resulting in them having a low reputation. The bullies target Ayano for bullying. Whilst she is murdering…lets just saaay…Kizana, the bullies come up to harrass Ayano, and they see her murdering Kizana. This could give more reason for the player to keep their reputation up. There is an exception to this, that being if you are a delinquent. There may also be another
Another mechanic I have in mind actually relates to the delinquents.
Another thing relating to this delinquent idea, an idea I have for a delinquent benefit. Beating up students. If you were to beat up a student, they would fear you. Possibly, this could result in them not gossiping about you upon seeing you do something dangerous, or at least not having your reputation drop as much. This however, could possibly result in you not being able to talk with them. This is just an idea though, and probably would require heavy balancing. Just a concept after all.
What do you think of these?

  17. I can’t download Yansim even thou I really want to after seeing one of my fave youtubers-LaurenZside-Play it. I know it won’t work on tablet but I still tried. Please can you make it happen YanDev?
