In my last blog post, I said I was working on a new video. However, it’s been over 2 weeks, and the video still hasn’t come out yet! What’s up with that? Usually, it only takes me a few days to make a video. None of my videos have ever taken 2 weeks to produce! So, what’s the holdup? When is the video going to be out?
I’ll tell you everything! Scroll down past this absolutely precious artwork by Luariaura and click “Continue Reading” to get the details.
After releasing my “SNAP Mode” video, I stopped creating videos so that I could focus exclusively on completing Osana. Even after Osana was released, I still refrained from creating videos, so that I could spend all of my time on improving the demo.
Over the course of November, I finally finished making all of the fixes / changes / additions / improvements / new features that I thought were necessary to solve the problems that were present in the first release of the demo. The demo is now a completely different experience. In fact, I’ve even updated the title screen to have the words “REVISION A” to denote the fact that I consider the current demo to be a completely separate thing from the original release!
Now that my top priorities (Osana and an improved demo) have been taken care of, I’m finally ready to return some of my attention to a secondary priority – the creation of YouTube videos. However, this presented me with a quandary: where the hell do I even begin?
Usually, my videos are about whatever I’ve been working on recently. Because I haven’t uploaded a (real) video in 8 months, there is about about 8 months’ worth of work that I want to talk about. I suppose you could imagine that 8 months’ worth of discussion topics have been “piling up” this entire time, and a dam is about to burst!
I want to discuss:
- The flaws that people identified in the demo
- The changes that were made to the demo to address the flaws
- The new features that have been added into the game over the past 2 months
- The origin story of the stalker house stealth mission, and how it was created
- The changes that were made to the stalker house stealth mission to address its flaws
- The ways in which I plan to make the rest of the game different from Osana’s demo week
- An “assassinate Amai during a bake sale” challenge that has been created, and why it exists
- Answers to questions like “When will the crowdfunding campaign launch?” “When will Amai release?” “When will the game be finished?”
There is so much I want to talk about that I’ve spent the past 2 weeks just writing the script! In fact, the script is currently over 8,000 words long, and it’s still not finished yet!
I quickly released that I was writing the most lengthy and elaborate video that I’ve ever produced. I started organizing it into “sections” and realized that it made more sense for each section to be a separate video. This is no longer going to be just one video, but probably at least 3, each one covering a specific category:
- The ways that the demo has changed and improved
- The stalker house stealth mission
- Amai and the game’s future
Writing this video (or, series of videos) has been an arduous process, because I keep second-guessing myself. “Is this section too long? Should I re-write it?” “Are people going to misinterpret what I’m saying here?” “Is it going to be weird to release multiple videos back-to-back?” Every step of the way, I’m worrying about what people are going to think, so progress has been slower on this video than any video to precede it.
I often judge the speed of my development progress by looking at how much time has passed since my last update. Back-to-back daily updates? “I must be making fast progress!” Last update was 2 weeks ago? “Oh no, progress is slow!” However, I think that this is a flawed way to look at my own progress. What matters isn’t the time between updates, but what was accomplished during that time. Even while working on the video, I’ve been continuing to make fixes/changes/additions to the game. I’m happy with what I’ve been accomplishing lately, and I think you will be, too.
I understand if it’s disappointing to read a blog post announcing that I’m still not ready to release an update yet – but I really need to make these videos. It’s a personal mission at this point. Even if it’s weird to suddenly release a barrage of videos at the end of the year covering a bunch of different topics, it’s something I need to do. I have to express all of these thoughts that have been building up, and I have to report on all of this progress that has been building up, and I want to do it in video format just like I’ve done for the past 6 years. Anything else is just not an option to me at this point.
As an apology, I’ll share something with you – a sneak peek at something that will be coming to the game in the future:
I hope you’ll have fun speculating about what it might be!
I’m very sorry for keeping you waiting, and I hope that you can be patient with me for a little longer!
As always, thank you very, very much for following the development of Yandere Simulator!

HYPE!!!!
It’s okay yandere dev!
Take your time:).
Is the video about your “driven to murder video?” In that video you talked about potentially driving kokona who was the rival at the time to kill musume because of the way musume was acting, are you planning on giving other rivals personal problems that involve other girls at school? I have an idea of what this might be, the rival in the video is a part of the delinquents, she probably thinks of them as family, maybe someone had hurt one of the delinquents and now she wants to hurt that person, she seems like a very rough around the edges character who has a temper, it probably wouldn’t take much to drive her to murder someone? Maybe the person who “hurt” a delinquent had actually stolen from them? Or worse, this is my idea of what the video might be
Osoro is the 8th rival, and isn’t close to being in the game yet! I’m so curios! Also, YanDev, take a break, you deserve it!
cool
Very interesting video! I can tell that you are really working hard on the game.
My mind: 🤯
Is this maybe the room where kokona was tied into a chair and musume and yk? but why is the other rival there hmmm
It’s okay yandere dev! Take your time
That Osoro hair model looks amazing.
Maybe make a Trello checklist for the video
I agree. The Trello checklist was really nice. So it would work now too.
YES, LETS GO!!!!
it’s impossible for me to see the video )))):
nice work yandereDev and take you’re time, this is so exciting! XD
Dude, I love getting content from you, whether it’s a video or an update, and now we’re getting an big update and 3 videos?? This is heaven.
Just a question though. Will we get to play the Amai section or is it just for your videos?
so the next update will only be in 2021?
Hmm, it could be that way, but we should let Yandere Dev take his time. He works too hard, and I think he needs a break on all of the graphics and animations that he has been working on, also, nice video yandere dev! I think that it’s based off of the “Driving your rivals to murder” video?
Maybe it involves a sorta befriend or betray esque osoro mission?
Maybe that’s the befriend elimination for Osoro method or just a future Cutscene. Can’t Wait for it, yandere Dev.We understand you, keep your time. We’re patience.
:O
Is that a hint/tease for Osoro!? As in *Osoro* the most mysterious rival, that you’ve been so minimal with details for?!
That’s a very worthwhile apology for a late video. I’m more than happy to wait longer for the videos. ❤
In fact, since it will be multiple videos covering so many interesting topics, the videos themselves add to an even more worthwhile apology.
Thank you so much for the amazing work on YanSim. ❤
Please remember to not overwork yourself though, the progress you've made already is lovely and I'm sure it will be just as lovely (or even more) if you let yourself have the time to relax and recharge.
Such a cute cat :3
Looks like the driven to murder elimination method will be implemented. Hype
Bring the rival before the murder-is back!
IM HYPE
Keep up good the good work yandev
I think it is the method of ” driving your rivals to murder ”
Because that place looks like the one that Yandere chan took to Kokona in the demonstration video of what that method would be like
That’s exactly what I thought as well! That looks like that’s what it is
it’s drive to murder i’m caliing it
I can’t wait to see what you do with all of the rivals this game is great un although I would play as a pacifist and use n lethal methods of elimination!
I have some questions to ask
1) in the future (if everything goes well) will you change some models of the scenarios outside of school? Such as the scene where Amai met taro there are certain models (like trees) that are out of tune from the game because they seem in a different style from ” the anime style “or instead of making new models you could change the textures to make them more” anime ”
2) are the new character models ready? And if they are ready will you show them in one of your three videos? (You could talk about it in the one where you talk about Amai and the future of the game)
I can’t wait for this game to be 100% finished because you are doing a really good job, and don’t worry about how long it will take to make progress or the videos you told us about the important thing is that you are putting us together the best good!
From what I remember, YanDev said the new models are a part of the kickstarter goals so he probably won’t have them completed until after the kickstarter is completed since he has to pay the artist to make them.
Fair point, honestly. Whether or not those models will get replaced depends on one of two factors:
1. A 3D artist contacts me and volunteers to replace the out-of-place models
2. The crowdfunding campaign is a success, and I have the budget required to pay a 3D artist to replace the out-of-place models.
The new character models are basically ready, but we don’t have a rigger yet, so I can’t show off the models yet.
thank you for answering, i can’t wait for the new models to be finished so yandere simulator will have a real face
for a moment I thought the video was about the elimination of “drive to a murder”
I’m looking forward to the new videos 🙂
But don’t stress yourself out… Take your time.
I’m so excited! 🤩
I imagine that part of the delay comes from writing lengthy community posts. You could avoid this delay by limiting the amount of time that you spend writing posts and posting whenever you have something new to present. Otherwise, many people will wait for your scheduled posting date and get disappointed when you can’t show anything yet. This is something that I think you should consider.
Valid criticism, I can tell from personal experience that there is truth to it. Though I can’t say I like it, since I enjoy reading them.
I think the issue with that is also one i’ve seen(or felt) in other game dev diaries as well; if the progress is small, people may be disappointed theres not more to announce. Or, alternatively, if theres a lot of secret projects being worked on and theres no updates for months, people will think there is no progress being made. I like the 15th/1st update schedule. I’m sure these posts don’t take as long to write, its different from a script for sure. I think alternatively, adding the Trello checklist could be used more to show fans when things have been accomplished.
The posts do help let people know that ‘hey, I’m still making progress’ which I find a lot better than going dead silent for months, as a lot of devs do. In that case I feel the game is dead and lose interest. This format shows that the developer is still present and working on the game.
ok

i had been wondering why there still wasent a video about the demo and what the response to the demo was.
im greatful that you are open about whats happening with not only the game, but also about what surrounds the game.
keep it up yanderdev! your doing great work! :>
I don’t understand, you can give up making videos that take so long to produce and only add blog entries. You’ll have a lot more time to update the game.
he working on the game did you see the blog post
A lot of people depend on the videos to understand the features. A lot of people don’t read the blog posts because they feel it’s “too much to read” while everyone will click on a YouTube video. Also, the visuals would better help express his ideas in a way blog posts can’t and blog posts can be misunderstood without tone.
Well done YandereDev! Well done! Take your time and do what you think is best! Also, the video is making me super hyped up! I can’t wait to see the update! Well done!
Oooooh! is it the befriend/betray method? Like Ayano is gonna help Osoro get rid of a body or something?
could you make a trello checklist for the videos and what is needed for their completion?
You don’t need to give us so many explainations. We all understand that your work isn’t easy like many people think and you have to take care of your life too, so take all the time you need. ✌️
Sadly, not everybody understand that …
All of my ideas instantly changed the minute I saw Osoro, this is going to be so good!
Don’t worry Yandere Dev we completely understand.
Just Take all the time you need
We will wait
Ahhhhhhhhh it’s driving rivals to murder
That is what exactly what I was thinking too! MAYBE it IS driving rivals to murder! Can’t wait! 😁
Sameeeeee
OMFG that’s exiteing
I’ve seen far to many “entering a gang” situations to know where this is going.
I think the feature will either be the “driving your rivals to murder” scenario, or Ayano has to fight someone in order to be with the delinquents.
i don’t think that it is really necessary to add the video on the stalker’s house. it’s more of a “lore” thing, which isn’t necessary at this point in time of development, especially with the amount on the official website, youtube, your reddit, etc. if you really want to talk about the stalker’s house, you can add a little segment at the end of one of the videos.
also, you don’t need to make videos super fancy with motion graphics, stuff like that, like you said before with an unlisted progress report. the important part is the information
Interesting, it looks similar to the shed from the “driving rivals to murder” cutscene, but Osoro is the 8th rival. There’s a few ways this could be taken.
1. Osoro is the first rival to have this method (unlikely)
2. Osoro is just the one used in the video to tease it (possible but underwhelming)
3. Osoro is the only/first person to specifically have the shed for her cutscene. (possible but underwhelming)
4. It’s an Osoro-specific scene unrelated to driving to murder (possible but strange considering how far we are from her week in development.)
5. You meet Osoro for the first time far before her week starts and she’s the one who shows you the shed/gives you the idea. (possible, and EXTREMELY intriguing)
I’m very interested to see where this goes!
Quiet Yandere Dev, I will wait for you to publish your videos and put your latest update, but I hope all the players of Yandere Simulator to have the new update this month. Why everyone is curious your latest features you have done is that we want to try.
*Has a schedule.*
Yandere-Dev- “I’m releasing three update videos back to back.”
*Tosses schedule in the trash.*
My theory is the old bunkers from ww2 that the founder of the Saiko company used to be in
I have many thoughts and ideas about what that video could be
-Number 1 being that because Osoro is the 8th rival and Megami is the 10th rival, leaving Hanako as the 9th rival, Hanako is innocent and young and spends most of her time with Senpai, leaving Hanako out of this theory. My theory is that this could be apart of a “Befriend/Betray” elimination with Osoro where Osoro dislikes Megami and knows she is apart of the Saiko family, the shed shown in the video could be owned by the Saiko company and when Ayano befriends Osoro, Osoro shows her the shed.
-Number 2 being that Osoro could have relation with the mafia in Sisuta Town and the shed is a hideout for the mafia, before Ayano even knew that Osoro attended Akademi, maybe Osoro and Ayano bonded a friendship if/when Ayano got involved with the mafia. How would Ayano not know that Osoro attended Akademi? Simple, Osoro is a delinquent and would show up late to school when Ayano was stalking her other rivals or in class.
-Number 3 being another possible Befriend/Betray elimination, like the mafia theory, Osoro and the other delinquents might not have any relation with the mafia but the shed could be a hideout for them or the shed could just be something owned by the Saiko company. If Osoro disliking/having something against Megami like my first theory stated, maybe it’s a place where illegal weapons and things are kept with a bunker where you could find evidence and team up with Osoro to take Megami down on the final week. One last possible option relating to that is having a cutscene where you take down Megami within the bunker in the shed.
-Number 4 being the most underwhelming theory I have, a simple drive your rival to murder, kidnapping Hanako or Megami, driving Osoro to kill Hanako/Megami, and framing Osoro for the murder.
I see the teaser could be 1 of these
1. Shidesu’s Driven to Murder Elimination
2.Shidesu’s Betray Elimination where Aishi locks Shidesu in the shed with something she fears the most (presumably because of her unknown backstory, or to torture her into a mindslave)
3. A way to encounter Shidesu before/on the 8th week, which could involve the Yakuza
4. A way to unlock the Yakuza Elimination Method for the remaining Rivals
5. How and where you kidnap Shidesu
Shidesu? Isn’t that Osaro?
Oh, I forgot Shidesu is her last name.
There’s two more theories I have
VI: You can avoid Shidesu as your rival the whole game by doing something to her related to the shed. But she would/n’t be replaced by another tough girl who catches Taro’s eyes
VII: In a video from Yandev around 3-4 years ago it showed an illustration of Aishi and Shidesu about to fight. The shed could be where you go to challenge her.
I don’t think it would be them fighting considering the way they look at each other seems too friendly and not competitive.
Could it be the “driven to murder” elimination?
Wow, can hardly wait for the video, sounds pretty exciting! I’ve always loved YandereDev’s videos, not *just* because I like seeing the progress, but because I love seeing the processes behind things, and his thoughts and ideas.
Do you think you can finish the videos before december 15th? 🥰 Stay safe out there ❤
It’s okay, take it slow. YandereDev.
I think you did pretty well whit the demo , as a fan from 2016 , i believe in you ! I’m missing your video’s as well … 😅
Maiby driven to murder, but I think is “Yakuza elination method” because Osoro. I am half and half because the house is “driven to murder elimination video’s house” and Yakuza was for the mother of Yandere. But why Osoro now with driven to murder? Can be driven to murder a specific elimination method of only Osoro? It makes sense to me
The video reminds me of the video where Kokona murders Musume in the shed with the bat. Maybe that elimination method is coming? Idk
OMG IT’S DRIVING A RIVAL TO MURDER AHHHHH THE PREVIEW IS SO AWESOME AND IT IS ONLY 30 SECONDS LONG!
