July 18th Bug-Fixing Build

To my relief, upgrading to Unity 2017 only caused one or two minor issues! This new build fixes a small handful of bugs that stemmed from the Unity 2017 upgrade. This build also contains a few “quality of life” improvements – minor things that will make your gameplay experience a bit more convenient, based on feedback from players.

To read a list of everything that is new/fixed/different in the latest build, scroll down beneath this lovely photograph that somebody shared with me!

It warms my heart to know that somebody was thinking of Yandere Simulator during a trip to the beach, and felt like drawing the game’s title into the sand! I can’t explain why, but it just puts a biiiiig smile on my face, and makes me feel all fuzzy inside!

Quality-Of-Life Improvements

  • In order to prevent the player from accidentally resetting the day when they didn’t mean to, the “Reset Day” debug command now requires the player to hold down the “~” key for 1 second, instead of tapping it.
  • If you press the “L” key at the Settings menu, all settings will drop to the lowest level. This will improve the framerate. (If you press “L” and then turn on anti-aliasing, it actually looks pretty okay!)
  • When the player is spotted in Mission Mode, a text box will now inform the player of exactly which student spotted them.
  • The Settings menu now allows the player to change the sensitivity of the camera.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed bug that would allow Yandere-chan to freely walk around after getting a game over, if she was stripping gloves off of her arms when she was apprehended / spotted / pepper-sprayed.
  • Fixed bug that would cause the Art Club Leader to do his “holding paintbrush” pose when the player was speaking to him, even when he wasn’t holding a paintbrush.
  • Fixed bug that would sometimes cause Yandere-chan to remain upstairs when the player was trying to make her move downstairs to the basement.
  • Fixed bug that caused camera speed to be dependent on the game’s framerate, instead of being constant no matter what the framerate was.
  • Fixed bug that would cause Yandere-chan to freeze permanently when failing the pickpocket minigame under very specific conditions.
  • Fixed Yanvania bug that would cause the game to freeze as soon as Yanmont-chan reached Dracula-chan’s throne room.
  • Fixed bug that was preventing students from teleporting to their seats when the player attended class.
  • Fixed bug that would cause the delinquents’ radio to play music in the presence of a dead delinquent.
  • Added one new hairstyle for Yandere-chan.

What’s next?

I’ve been working on a lot more stuff than what’s listed above; the other stuff that I’ve been working on simply isn’t ready to be added to the game yet. Hopefully, you’ll see it soon!

Recently, I acquired the assets necessary to add a new club to the game; I’m very excited about them! Adding them will be my next priority. Implementing this club will require me to change the layout of the school, so the next time you see Akademi High, you’ll notice that some buildings have moved around! Hopefully it’ll give the school a “new and improved” feeling! I hope you look forward to it!

  1. Keep doing this great work! But i have a little question. Will it be able the “hydrogen peroxide” in the game? it will be necessary to clean the blood, as the bleach is? I don’t know if you have answered this in another section, sorry if i’m bothering you! hope you understand my bad english!

  2. I’m guessing the new club is either Drama or Sports cause the only other buildings are the locker room and the gym/auditorium If that is the case that would be awesome.

  3. Thanks for adding the low settings button. Very convenient for my less than stellar computer. I can’t wait to see the school renovations. 😀

  4. Oh yeah! The new engine is defiantly an improvement.

    The beach photo is fantastic.

Can’t wait to see the new club! I hope it’s the Athletic Club because it’s the only club that makes sense to me why Akademi High will have moved buildings!

  5. Since you had a programmer update the game to a new engine, will the programmer clean up the code and possibly make the frame rate better?

  6. Hey! I sincerely apologize if this random comment with suggestions bugs you, but there are a few things that have been buzzing in my mind for AGES now, but haven’t had the guts to say them until, well, right now.

For one, the Hero personality is a bit wonky. Sure, whenever they see Yandere~Chan commit a murder, they immediately spring into action and take her down. But when they discover a corpse, they go tell a teacher. One thing I think can be improved with this to make it more realistic is having them act like Teachers, staying around the corpse, closely watching everyone that surrounds them, telling them to alert teachers and help take down the perpetrator. They would be far too stubborn to call the police themselves. I think this should also be used with students that would go attack Yandere~Chan if she were to kill ones they’re close to. I’m also pretty sure that they’d be determined to find out who did it and take them down, so they’d develop the Sleuth persona, but still with the hero take-down. Whenever the stalker mode is activated in the Photography club, they’d go out of their way to convince the school that she was the one behind it.

Another thing I was thinking of, is a way to deal with cowardly/fragile witnesses to Yandere~Chan’s crimes. Pretty much being able to torment them with making sure they know that the killer is paying close attention to them. Do with THAT what you want.

I do have more, but I think I’ve wasted too much time here.. I’m really interested in Yandere Simulator’s Development!

  7. Yandere dav, I have questions:
    1) What happened to the mini game of making money in coffee? (When Yandere-chan it is necessary to work as a waitress.)

    2) Will there be a cut scene of the parents’ district in the game?

    3) When you take the ring of one of the twins, Sakura says: “This ring …”. Is this something to do with the plot of the game or is it a joke?

    4) Kokona will be in the Drama club? You said that she would make the game learning.

    5) Why in the phone Yandere-chan application “music”.
It just makes the sound “pi”.

    6) Why does not someone react to bare Yandere-chan?

    7) Will the Yandere simulator be on disks?

    8) Will there be a possibility of changing the sex of Senpai and Yandere-chan in the finished version of the game? I think this idea should be removed, or make a separate mod. It will take a lot of time and money … And little people will play this version.

    Thank you

    • 1) I haven’t had time to work on it.

      2) Probably not, unless the game gets a big budget and a big team.

      3) You’ll find out eventually.

      4) Yes.

      5) I don’t understand.

      6) The game is not finished yet.

      7) At this point in time, I feel like distributing video games on disks is old and outdated.

      8) That’s the plan.

  8. When are you going to start filling the other classrooms? If your main priority is the club, then why not add some things to the other rooms? Like some extra desk in the room, etc.

  9. Sorry if you’ve already answered this, but I heard that some of the Rainbow 12’s will be removed, is that true? Is there any way you can keep them, or have you already made your decision?

  10. hello yandere dev I dread you ask a question: What happens with the video where you were eager to work?
personally it does not bother me but you were very impatient here I wish you a good day

  11. will yandere chan be able to Kill Justin biber?
    plz
    awnser me
    dev pie
also will the studens at school be able to buy sodas from the venddingmachine it is only yandere chan that can do that right now (this is a very important question) also send me free merch
    thank you dev pie
also papa razz send me 😉

  12. Hey yandere dev, whenever you decide to add the drama club, what will happen to Kokona? In a previous video you mentioned making her into a member of the drama club as a tutorial character of sorts but she’s already in the cooking club

  13. the game is very good! Continue in the same spirit! And yes, can you make the game not so hovering and not only for powerful pc? I have an average PC, but to buy a powerful one there is no money. Please correct this. thank you in advance

  14. Devpai, you have saved me with the low settings button 🙂 And I can’t wait for the new club! You do a great job! ❤

  15. Hey, Yandere Dev! I just noticed this, but when you go onto the mission mode screen Info chans skirt is clipping into her legs. 🙂

  16. hi yanderedev!!! im happy that you work SO hard on this game and i cant wait until the final game comes out. i DO have one question, though. if the art club disbands, will borupen join the occult club?

    cheers from san francisco 💗

  17. Hey Yandere-Dev, it’s me again. Just wanted to know how you were doing and hyped for the new club and rearrangement of Akedemi High (I think this is the fifth change to the architecture already) but something crossed my mind: whe somebody goes missing and is/or killed, wouldn’t it make more sense to keep the school atmosphere from going back to a full 100%? Like missing decreases it by 1% permanently while bullying decreases it by 2% orrumors of blackmail by 3% and murder bya permanent 4% and etc. I mean if something happened in my school people aren’t just gonna reset their perceptions and the like. There would be this lingering aura /stain on the whole atmosphere that takes years to go away. Heck with info-chan writing the school paper she could even sensationalize it since that was one fo erh original goals. You talked about organic game design so maybe this could be a thing? I don’t know

Can’t wait for next month to see what you bring ^_^

  18. Yandere Dev! I’m so glad I found your blog again but I can’t go directly to your site anymore. I keep getting the message that it’s been removed. However, I assume you got this fixed but it’s only working for a few people now. Either way, I’m glad it’s back up again.

So just a few questions, if you feel like answering, are you aware of this issue or did this go under the radar for you? Is there anyway I can go directly to your site again or do you think this issue can’t be resolved? If you can’t figure out an answer, that’s fine. Just wondering!

  19. Senpai will make friends with the time you spend in the game?

It seems strange to me that he only spends reading a book all day, he should have at least interactions with other students, even if he is very few or at least add a best friend to senpai, who was his friend in high school, with him when he is not reading, that prompts him to walk around the school and talk or maybe convince him to try a club, can even function as an unofficial rival, has the characteristics of a rival but this will not affect the confessions of love and to be a total defender with senpai, if you see a girl with bad steps she will tell senpai, if she sees someone murdering she will flee and she will tell senpai then, if you have good reputation too, this person can have influence over and add more difficulty without changing the mechanics of the game, it could even have a back story with another rival making him a suitor. If he died Senpai would be sad and start to be alone.

It seems to me somewhat unrealistic that a boy is reading all the time without doing something else and only interacting with a person. If I saw someone like that in my school, it would probably bother him, not just me, everyone and yet we have not seen anyone like that.

    • I’ve been thinking about this topic for a while. I still haven’t come up with an ideal solution yet.

“Extremely plain guy who has inexplicably has a bunch of super-hot girls interested in him for no good reason” is kind of a trope; that type of character is usually the protagonist of a harem show. I’m tempted to simply make Senpai that type of character, since it would “fit in” with all the other anime tropes that have been turned into gameplay mechanics…however, it might just make him a really boring character that nobody cares about.

Giving Senpai a real identity / personality could also create problems; if people don’t like the identity / personality that I give him, then they won’t feel motivated to pursue him. This is a double-edged sword; it could make some players more interested, while making other players less interested.

I don’t think that he should do absolutely nothing all day except read a book at the school fountain. Like every other character, I think that his routine should take him to various places in the school so that the player has to design plans around him / avoid him. This makes him more of an annoying obstacle than a lovable guy you want to romance, but from a game design perspective, the game *does* need obstacles.

Once club leader rivals are added to the game, they will attempt to make Senpai join their club, and so Senpai’s routine will change to involve spending more time in clubrooms. But outside of those weeks, perhaps Senpai’s routine should involve visiting various clubs and looking around to decide if he wants to join them.

I’ll probably come to a definitive decision regarding Senpai when I’m implementing Osana, since that’s when all of the “puzzle pieces” will be in place.

      • I think a good idea would be to have a pokemon mystery dungeon like mechanic where instead of choosing your pokemon it chooses your senpai’s personality because I think that since senpai is one of the most important characters in the game he really should have a more fleshed out personality. at least I think senpai should have some kind of quirk. one of the biggest problems a lot of people have with yan sim characters is that a lot of them are just stereotype’s with no defining characteristics to make them different.

      • Believe that the personality type of being should be the difficulty

Easy: Senpai Solitario only interacts with rivals

Normal: Senpai interacts with several students plus rivals but most of the time is spent with only one student, his friend

Difficult: Senpai popular, has a lot of friends and round with a lot of people around the school

  20. A few questions?

Any estimates on when the new build will come out?

Are the rooms in the school separate prefabs?

In the next build will the shower room be a rectangular block or not?

When you say the school is changing does this mean that the mini map won’t be able to be completely added until the school is complete?

And not like a question but I really am enjoying the development of this game and thank you for answering my past questions! It’s really exciting speaking to a fellow game dev!!!

    • 1) I’ve made a bunch of progress implementing the next club; it’s practically finished. Now, I just need to test for bugs when joining/leaving the club, getting the club shut down, characters’ routines changing when the club shuts down, etc. Potentially, the next update could be out as soon as 24 hours from now…but it’s possible that it could be 48 or 72 hours away, depending on how many bugs I need to fix.

      2) All rooms are using the same prefab, but the props inside are not prefabs.

      3) The shower room buildings are going to change shape a bit, but will still be mostly rectangular.

      4) I definitely won’t add a minimap as long as I’m still making changes to the school.

      Thanks for your kind words!

  21. Yandere Dev – the game is looking incredible and getting better with every update! I’ve been a huge fan of this game since it’s early release but only recently got a good enough computer to install it, and just now being brave enough to comment. (I’m shy, sorry!) Beforehand I had just been watching your updates and different playthroughs. However, recently when I play the camera is extra sensitive to my mouse. I tried turning this down in the settings, but it didn’t seem to have much of an effect. I can’t move my mouse down at all without it completely turning to an undershot of Yandere-chan, nor up without completely seeing her scalp. It seems nobody else is having these problems thus far in these comments. Do you have any suggestions on what to do / is this a new update thing? It might simply be an overly sensitive mouse issue. I eagerly await your reply!

  22. YANDERE DEV!!! YANDERE DEV!!!

Shouldnt Kokona be attracted the the green guy in the science club because of his slicked back hair?

  23. Yandere dav, I figured out how Senpai and Osana would react to the corpse in the phone. (On Wednesday). They’ll call the police. If Yandere chan did not put on gloves-Game-over. But if she wore gloves, then the school will just drop the atmosphere. This will not be the destruction of their love. It will just be logical. It would be strange if Senpai did not react to the corpse.

  24. I have a question..……
Will handers Chan ever be able to outrun characters…
It doesnt make sense when characters that are chasing her will still know where she is after she runs out of that person’s sight.
In mission mode, you can hide from nemesis Chan. So why not other characters.

    • In situations where being caught would result in a game over, and the chasing character would never forgive Yandere-chan, it doesn’t make sense to allow Yandere-chan to run away. In the future, she won’t be able to run in such situations.

  25. Hmm… if there are 15 More Students to add which are: 5 Students at the Cooking Club, 5 Students for the Sports Club, And 5 Students in the drama club… I was wondering… are the social butterfloodles still going to be in the cooking club? Or they will go home or do something else in school like walk around and stuff?

  26. Hello YandereDev! Good to see you are diligently making progress in the game. I’m excited to see the new layout and the new club! Anticipating the next update :)))

  27. YandereDev…
I have a question if you like to answer😅will it be possible for low-end pc to play the game? Because the game always really lag,and i mean really, really, really lag that it even cant enter the school.its maybe because of the students thats too many in game.or maybe it just my pc cant handle it? I hope you can make the game possible to play for low-end pc

      • Ohh oke thanks for answering😊im looking forward to it.can i ask why i the settings menu cannot be used on the main menu selection? Its frustating to use the yandere’s phone just to change the setting😅

  28. Yandere Dev! I was wondering if more dishes for the Cooking club could be added to create more variety? Maybe if one character had dietry needs or you were trying to achieve a certain objective – like if you were trying to get people to be sick and if given a certain dish they don’t like they’d skip a day of school? Personally, I think this would be a great addition to the games because take Saki for instance – always near Kokona, I think their chat is quite time consuming and it would be cool if you could not torture Saki, but make her sick! Thank you Yandere Dev! I’m looking forward to new updates! ~

  29. Great job,Yandere Dev! But I have a question: Will all students have book bags and carry them around school at all times except when in class? And another question: Will you update the UI for the game? I mean, for example the thing that shows wether your reputation is high or low or what time it is because I saw an updated version of it in one of your older videos, but it’s still not there…

    • Giving all characters bookbags would result in some pretty significant changes to their routines. It’s not something I can promise, unless I spend some time thinking about whether or not it interferes with my plans for the game’s design and the student’s schedules / daily routines. I really won’t be able to make a decision about this until more of the game’s pieces are in place.

I might update the UI one day, but it’s not a real high priority right now.

  30. This is a Midori question: If there were more requests on killing/lewding (basically interacting with) the male characters. Would you consider satisfy your fans despite your absolute love for women?
“After all, us girls want to know more about you boys too! Don’t you want to teach us? *blink blink cutely*”
