For the past year, Yandere Simulator has been running on Unity 5. But Unity 5 is actually old and outdated; the most recent version of the game engine is Unity 2018! Upgrading the game engine would have several benefits, but it would also cause some features to break. For example, some of the shaders compatible with Unity 5 aren’t compatible with Unity 2018; this wouldn’t be a permanent problem, but you wouldn’t get any new builds of the game until the compatibility issues were resolved.
After judging every available version of Unity, it was decided that upgrading to Unity 2017 would result in the least compatibility issues. So, while I was at Anime Expo, a programming volunteer upgraded Yandere Simulator to Unity 2017, and also fixed a pathfinding bug that was causing me to lose a lot of time whenever I wanted to re-compile the game’s code! In short: There are now fewer inconvenient obstacles for me to wrestle with while I’m working on the game, and it’s now much easier for me to make progress!
A lot of things piled up while I was at Anime Expo – new assets from volunteers, bug reports, issues that needed to be addressed, and so forth. It took a few days, but I’ve finally finished chewing through the backlog of everything that piled up while I was at Anime Expo, and now I can finally resume working on the game!
I know you’d love to see a big, exciting new feature, or some new characters…but today, I just have a simple bug-fixing build for you. The primary purpose of this update is to put a Unity 2017 build into your hands so that you can report any new problems that arose between the previous build and the new one. Theoretically, all compatibility issues should be resolved, but you might find something that slipped past me and the programming volunteer!

Fixes and Changes
- Fixed bug that would cause student council members to pepper spray Yandere-chan even if she had just lost a fight with a delinquent, or attempt to intervene with a fight after the fight had already ended.
- Fixed bug that made it impossible to dispose of a murder weapon if the weapon had not been used for anything other than a single murder during the struggle minigame.
- Fixed bug that would cause a student to walk in place if the player aimed a camera at them while they were reacting to the sound of a nearby scream.
- Fixed bug that would cause Yandere-chan to slide around while talking to a student, if she spoke to that student after pickpocketing them.
- Fixed bug that would cause Akane to get stuck trying to enter the Art Club’s locked door, if the Art Club had been shut down.
- Fixed bug that would cause characters to retain props in their hands (sketchbooks, pencils, etc) when witnessing murder.
- Fixed bug that would cause Yandere-chan fall downwards at a ridiculous speed whenever she stopped off of a ledge.
- Fixed bug that would cause Yandere-chan to simultaneously wear two pairs of panties during the DDLC easter egg.
- Fixed bug that would cause a female character’s scalp to poke through her hair model.
- Decorated the bullies’ bags with stickers and pins.
- Updated Kaga’s hair model and portrait.
What’s next?
Since 2015, there’s a video I’ve wanted to make. Yesterday, I finally received the materials that I would need to produce it! I am SUPER eager to work on this video that I’ve been planning for 3 years…but I feel like it’s more important to make game development progress, instead. It’s really tough to choose between the epic video or development progress…I suppose, within a few days, you’ll find out what I chose to prioritize!

Yes Yandere Dev has stated that he is thinking or going to add in something like that. Where when the player’s reputation is high enough that students might develop crushs on Yandere-chan and follow her around school. Kind of like the photography club but they would be doing it out of affection. So then, as you said, it would be harder to commit a crime because someone is “stalking” or following Yandere-chan.
Yandere dev, When i look at that elimination method where Yandere-chan set a student on fire using a bucket filled with gasoline. I find it how oblivious the students are when they witness Yandere-chan using a matchstick and lighting a student on fire. Shouldn’t it be more like Yandere-chan find a jerry can and use a cloth to light the jerry can on fire and leave it where students won’t notice it with a timer counting down before it explode or toss it and the students will die in the explosion.Also will there be a elimination method where a student/rival goes for a swim and Yandere-chan toss a toss a electrical objects like a toaster or something?
In the future, it will be impossible to trip-and-fall to spill gasoline on someone; it’ll have to be done in a different way. The animation to flick a match and set someone on fire is supposed to look inconspicuous (nobody should be able to notice that you’re doing it) but the current animation doesn’t reflect this. I think that the method for setting someone on fire should be completely changed, though.

YandereDev it is still incompatible for my computer. If YandereDev want to know my CPU It is : Intel Core 2 6300, 4 GB RAM, NVDIA GeForce GT 220 And Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit (i think this type of pc is categorized as low spec pc right???). As soon as i go to school everything is glitched i can’t see anything and no it’s not a black screen it’s some sort of weird static. Is the problem already fixed YandereDev??? I have a question for u
If 2 or 3 people were assassinated the following day the school could have a ring of lockdown, and if another murder happen and someone noticed, and call the police, the police would make the school went to lockdown until they arrive, I think that wouldn’t be that buggy if that features is implemented,
(P.S I forgot if the school were in stage of lockdown it will be one teacher and all of the student council, and the doors would be locked when every classmate arrive to the class)

Yandere Dev, i’ve got a question!
Supposedly, in the final game, you’ll be able to kidnap rivals and keep them in your basement, but if you kidnap Osana, the easiest rival, and then torture her, but then in the final week with the hardest rival, Megami, can’t you just send out Osana and end the game? Since she’s already tortured, you could just send her out to kill Megami. I wanted to know you’re opinion on this, since it’s a thing i’ve been wondering for a LONG time!
For some rivals, sending a mind-broken slave after them won’t be enough to stop them; they will fight off the slave.

1: Do you update the additional information of Mina Rai, Juku Ren, Shima Shita and Sho Kunin so have more information about them?

Yandere Dev I like the progress but I felel when the students walk around it feels too scheduled. While they are supposed to be obstacles they’re also students and they should make the game more lively. Like when the gardening club goes around just watering plants it’s sort of weird. Schools don’t have plants inside the buildings and hallways. Same with other clubs I feel like. I think after you’re done all the things you think are priority I think this needs to be fixed. I also hope Yandere Dev when you first implement Osana that you don’t put all the clubs in all at once. If you put all your content in the beginning it will become very boring and repetitive and there will be no point in progressing for fun and more so finishing the game to see the ending. I hope you see this and consider these things when it comes to development and don’t get mad at me. Thanks Yandere Dev for making a great game

I’m not the guy who asked this but I have an idea on how to make it fell less scheduled like mabye you can set different paths and activity’s for students but set it where they will do them at random for example what if the red haired evil girl would sometimes have to go to the bathroom she wouldn’t do it all the time but like mabye everyday there’s like a 5% chance she goes to the bathroom and a 10% chance she will go roam the hallway yaknow little stuff like that
I don’t want to have unpredictable, random elements; I don’t want the player to lay a perfect plan, and then have their plan be ruined by a student making a random decision. I think that the player should be able to memorize student routines and predict student actions.
Yanderedev, wouldn’t it be more logical to have plants inside of various rooms that the gardening club members to have as patrol paths?
Places I suggest:
Nurse’s office (The gardening club would place flowers for the ill, and water them each day)
Headmaster’s Office/ Counsellor’s office
Some of the teachers can have a plant in their rooms
Bushes not inside of the school could be a place as well.
If you also want the showering area to have extra protection you could have a few gardening club members get cleaned up after fertilizing crops/ pulling weeds.

I have some suggestions for these problems
1_ Creating objects, walking animations and unique dialogues for the characters, an example: as an animation of loading a notebook for the hidden club characters.
2_I think the flowers should be on the exterior parts and on the roof part of the academy (on the front, the back, on the right and on the left) since I think these places are more prone to hide corpses since these parts only pass 8 characters that is only a real threat is shiromi since it is the only one that goes through all that place. Making it harder for the player to kill Osana on Wednesday. An example of Osana performing her routine on Wednesday creates an advantage to kill her on the bridge side without anyone noticing. Two girls from the garden club would take care of the part of the roof while two girls would take care of the outside of the academy.
Hey Yandere dev! Maybe one member of the gardening club should be watering the roses outside of the school since sometimes outside of the school there is no witness that it can make it a bit easier to kill your rivals… Hope this helps!!!
I actually think it makes perfect sense for them to be scheduled! people tend to fall into habit when they do the same thing every day. and a gardening club would probably get permission to keep plants around the school, right?
maybe a good compromise would be to make it possible for them to be distracted without direct player input. for example, if a specific student comes near them, maybe they’ll stop to chat for a limit of time. this way it would technically be the player’s doing(accidentally getting in someone’s pathway, stopping to compliment them, etc), but they wouldn’t REALIZE they effected the path, so it would end up feeling random.
that’s just an idea off the top of my head, though. i hope this helps some!
I know I wasn’t originally part of the conversation but what I would suggest would be to just have a couple or so students walking around in and outside of the school just walking and talking, I feel that that would give off a more natural feeling to the school and would also be an obstical for Yandere Chan, especially if those students had heroic personas, but that’s just my opinion.
The gardening club could water the rose bushes by the matchmaking fountain or any other foliage so there are always people patrolling outside. They could also be watering the plants near where Osana takes her photo. This would mean they would witness you kill Osana well she’s taking the photo.
Students could have random conversations with each other. Where the game will randomly select a different set of characters each day to meet up. They could choose from a set of pre-made dialogue. Like the two boys who talk at lunch.
Instead of club members standing in one spot they should move around there club room. This can sort of be seen in the science club when they visit supply rooms. They should talk to fellow club members about club-related matters. They could leave there club room to go find something, for example, if some paint spills in the art club a club member should go get a mop or sponge from the supply closet.
I like the idea of making the gardening club water plants outside of the school.
I don’t think that students should ever have “random” conversations; everything should be scripted, so that the player’s plans aren’t ruined by the game’s random choices.
Yeah, I don’t want any clubs to have completely static clubmembers unless they have an important reason for it.
When i updated Yan-sim to the July 13th build, I couldn’t move my screen. it was difficult to attack and kill others without me being able to move my screen. I could only look forward. This happened more than once. I believe it is a bug and needs to be fixed, if you could, please fix this.
and another thing, the outline of the screen would be a lime-green, in which should be pink.
I am really happy with all of the latest updates you have made recently. All of the clubs are amazing, and I’m ecstatic to see how they all pose a threat to Ayano (my personal favorite club is science XD). Also, don’t pay attention to all of the people complaining about Osana and how you aren’t a good person. 1, I’m glad to hear that you want to give us a great experience with Osana when she finally comes out. 2, I know that you aren’t the best person (no one is perfect), but honestly, as long as you don’t give up the on the game, I can forgive you for your past and (some of) your current flaws. Yandere Dev, I have a question: Does your choice and your action effect the ending/the action of the next rival/the benefit of the next week/other people.
For example:
+) If you eliminate Osoro by expelling her, and help the delinquents to become good people, will yandere chan never be punished by the guidance counselor and maybe get some help from her?
+) If you can find some specific items, you can unlock some of the news elimination for the other rivals in the other weeks by unlocking their backstory (Megami for example, because she is a strong rival, you have to eliminate her by finding the evidence to show the whole school about her fishy action in the past, but each items will be available in other weeks, and you can only get it by be friend with the rivals in the other weeks)

Yandere dev, i know that this is a stupid question but can Yandere simulator functions if it is using unreal engine 4?
Porting the game to Unreal Engine 4 would be tantamount to rebuilding the entire game. I’m sorry, I wouldn’t like to go down that path!

If you bump into the student council a few times and get pepper sprayed, about 20 in-game minutes could be skipped and yandere chan could get back on her feet, because I find it ridiculous that you get a gameover, just by touching bumping into them.
(You barely need to work pn it because you already have the animation where yandere chan stands up after tripping)
You could also add additional information to all students and finish their opinions. Students should all have personas like yandere chan if she looks in the mirror, just like the photography club. I feel like you can’t really interact with the students, the game is lacking the ability to talk about certain topics with students, and you could choose to bring up the topic positively or negatively, which would affect your reputation.

If you bump into them 5 times, they can tell that you’re up to no good / attempting to assault them, which is why it results in being apprehended and expelled.
However, I do think it’s a bit extreme, so I’ll consider possible alternatives.

The original plan was that only rivals could be kidnapped. At this point in time, I am actually unsure what I am going to decide for the final game.
I have an idea for a new feature!
Since it’s the start of the school year(meaning the weather is warm), there should be a fire drill that happens once every week, causing all students to go outside in a group. This could buy Yandere-chan some time to set up for an elimination (the consequences are that the teachers will notice she is not outside and she will be sent to the guidance counseler.)
I’ve considered the idea before, but I think it’s too overpowered.

1) Will there ever be rain in the game? I know somebody’s asked you a similar question and you answered negatively, and you said that because it would make an huge effect on gameplay, but I don’t think so. You could inspire yourself by the “Let’s examine persona” videos and just make the characters walk with umbrellas.
2) Will you ever add some of the features of the “Let’s examine persona” and the “Let’s examine hitman” videos? Some of the ideas were REALLY great.
3)Will you ever add an opening? I think so,but I don’t know if I’m right. I think that it MAY be possible,because in the “Yandere Simulators Update Schedule” video,there was this video in the corner that looked like an opening. ‘Cause if not,I have no idea what that is.

Remember when you said that you won’t be able to join the bullies? I have to disagree. Here is my idea. Benefits: You would have an automatic high reputation, and be able to look like one of them. also, you could bully your current rival into suicide. This process would take the full week. At the end, there would be a cut-scene of your rival hanging herself. Tasks: If you joined the bullies, you would have to do tasks in order to stay with them. bullying other students with them, being with them during cleaning time, and not talking to low-rep students. Fail to do these, and you will be kicked from the bullies. you will be given a permanent low rep, and when you walk up to the bullies, they will shove you, and call you names. I’ve seen older replies to the “changes of weather” subject, but I would still like to tell you a variation of that idea so that it wouldn’t change gameplay at all:
When a day begins, the game will randomly choose one of these weathers (some, like sunny, being more probable than others): sunny, cloudy, slightly rainy and slightly snowy.
I say “slightly” because this would justify this feature being purely for decoration. For example, just a few water drops or snowflakes falling here and there. This way you shouldn’t worry about students changing their routines, using umbrellas, or adding any extra props like snow mountains or anything like that. Others like cloudy would only require a lighting change. The weather should be displayed at the calendar screen for more immersion. What do you think?

May I make a suggestion? This is going to be long. I apologize in advance if I seem too harsh or demanding, or if I’m wasting your time by suggesting things you’ve already thought of. You absolutely do not have to take any of my suggestions.
I feel the school building is too plain and predictable. The hallways are especially uninteresting and as a result, props (like the tables and chairs art students sit in, hiding places, plants, etc) look out of place.
I would suggest being more creative with the school architecture (it’s just a giant box) and also not making the hallways completely straight. You can also choose to vary the length and heights of each story. You can create turns and twists too (by that, I mean like making the building an L shape or something). And the courtyard – the courtyard is the main reason why the architecture is so limited to being just a box. I’d suggest placing the courtyard inside a little box on the first story and on one side of the box is where the main building is. Doesn’t have to be first floor either. The courtyard could be on a higher floor on some balcony. Try to not be so formulaic with the school. It’s too predictable – classrooms on one side, club rooms on the other, storage rooms on each corner, etc. Again, this can be fixed if the architecture is a little more creative. I understand that some anime do have boring old cube schools, but I think yandere simulator can be better than that.
Rooms should not all be on one side of the wall, there should be a variety (like one hallway should have classrooms facing out and another hallway should have classrooms facing in.) This isn’t possible with a cube building, obviously. And there needs to be windows, both in classrooms and hallways, although I think I recall you mentioning that you aren’t ready to implement windows yet.
The little nuisances and decorations in the hallways are what makes a building seem genuine. Your hallways are straight and the walls are flat. You could implant little nooks and crannies and put inside water fountains (great place for missing posters!), tables, trophy cases, places for artists to sketch, etc. Instead of only hanging out in one spot during morning, lunch, and afternoon, students could sit in these little tables, or lean on the walls, etc. This is how a school feels lively and full. With students always retreating to a specific room or location, the halls are empty and the bullies, student council members, and gardening club feel like out of place strays. For mornings and lunches, it’d be best if the club members hung out outside the clubs, and only hang inside the club during after school.
Another reason why the school feels empty is because there are too many hallways and floors, so it’s difficult to populate the school. Again, this can be fixed with more creative architecture, which may help limit the amount of hallways and floors. Reducing the size of the school will force you to cram props closer, which will make the school feel fuller and not so empty.
Missing posters, trophy cases, bulletin boards feel like they were just squeezed in there. Again, being creative with the interior of the school will fix this. I like to imagine the bulletin board being displayed between two doorways that lead to the same hall, for example. Trophy cases should feel like their locations were chosen with care. I imagine a little hole inside the wall where the trophy case fits into. And missing posters shouldn’t all be displayed on just walls. Missing posters can be hung on the dividers between windows, on the vending machines, changing room, even the pool. Vending machines would fit nicely into little nooks too.
The school grounds feels very empty, which I’m sure you know already. I can see that you know this and you have a plan to fill it, as is evident with the fountains and the pool and the stone walkways and trees around the school. I was hoping you might implant a picnic area, gazebos, flower boxes along the paths, etc? And also, the grounds doesn’t have to be all one level. There could be stairs and multiple levels! The gardening club should have a avant-garde, award-winning garden! And part of the garden can be the maze. Students can hang out here too. Also, there should be more stone paths and walkways than grass.
I know that it’s possible that this may be too much work for you to do, or if it might affect the game’s frame rate too strongly, or you can’t find the right people to do this stuff (I’d love to help, but obviously you should get someone with more expertise instead), or whatever reason. Again, these are all suggestions from a fan, and I don’t expect you to follow them if you don’t want to. You’ve probably already thought of these and maybe already planning to put them in game in the future. Either way, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

1.Unity 5 was released back in 2014, why did you chose Unity 4 and not Unity 5? Would help save a lot of time

1) I tried upgrading to Unity 5, and immediately a lot of aspects of the game broke. I decided not to bother with it, since it didn’t seem that there was an immediate benefit.

1 Will you add windows in the corridors? this would help make it not look so empty, obviously they do not have to be transparent, but they fill the void

4 Can not we do bullyng to Kizana? I remember hearing something about a queen bee among the bullyngs
1) It would have a massive impact on game design / level design (students could witness your actions from behind walls) so it’s the sort of thing I’d need to spend tons of time thinking about and testing before I could promise it.

If you get to add the town … When yandere chan visits the town Will adults be murderous? And will they also have their personalities?
This would also open the possibility for parents of some students to be present … How fascinating
Are you asking if it will be possible to murder people within the town? I suppose that technically, it *should* be possible, but from a game design perspective, it creates a lot of new scenarios and problems…it’s something that I would need to put a lot of thought into. I can’t promise it at this point in time.
ok here is a idea for a form of multiplayer (i commented about this concept before but i forgot on what page srry if you already gave a answer)
one player would be the yandere and the other person would be the jornalist and a random student would be a rival
the yandere would choose what female student in the school to be and the same thing for the jornalist but he chooses a male student and the jornalist has to catch the yandere to win and the yandere…i think you know…
also here is a idea but it kinda terrible like the multiplayer idea

lets say for example there were 2 twins and you killed 1 of the twins and the other twin killed them self and their parent was a single father and the father discovered it was you who killed them…but there was no proof…what would he do…i dont know how gameplay would be but its a idea

1) Good question. If this type of feature would absolutely break parts of the game’s design, that’s one potential reason why this type of feature won’t be added. This is why I can’t promise features like this; some features, after you put thought into them, break too much of the game.
But, in order to implement the feature with the least amount of problems…I suppose that the player would simply lose some reputation points, then everything would proceed as normal.
2) I do think that students should react to bruises on Yandere-chan’s face. However, it’s not a priority right now.
Hi Yandere Dev. I hae a question. I heard from someone that if you can’t up the frame rate, then you would get rid of the first 12 students, the rainbow hair boys and girls. Is this true? And if so, what would eventually hapen to those 12 students, that and your goal of having 90 students?

I remember planning this a long time ago, but I might re-design the way that locker rooms work in the future, so there’s no guarantee that this feature will be feasible in the final game.
Hey Devpie, we’ve all been sweet Yanderes and I believe we should get a treat! Back before you had shown silhouettes of elimination methods some of them have been implemented (such as burning) but others have not. Can you tell us atleast one of the planned elimination methods? Pwease

I’ve tried to use many mods to locate Osanas house with that gameplay you showed in the where’s osana video and I couldn’t find it anywhere so is it on a different unity scene or is it just hidden in the main scene?
When will challenges work?
Are you going to copy some of Kokonas code for Osanas elimination methods or completely new code?
Will seducution ever be a elimination method (almost like betrayal)?
What will the new build contain, a new build, getting more stuff done off the checklist?
Will the matchmaking confession scene be like senpai and rival confession scenes?
And finally will there be any other elimination methods with the free demo besides the ones that are already planned?

Yandere dev, in the future, are you going to change Yandere simulator character models to be more anime like persona 5 character models?
I’d like to replace the current character models with new ones that are easier to work with, with better proportions. It won’t necessarily be exactly like Persona 5’s models, though. I’ll probably consider a variety of different options before deciding on the final character models.
