Fixes, Changes, and Additions
- Fixed bug that caused a bucket of weights dropped off the school roof to bounce off of an invisible collider on its way down to a victim’s head.
- Fixed bug that was preventing the Mission Mode menu from picking from the entire available school population when picking a random student.
- Added some props to one of the gym storage rooms (it’s not finished yet, though).
- Fixed problem with the circular saw’s blood spray effect.
Photography Club and Sleuths
- Added 5 new characters and two new Personas.
- When School Atmosphere is over 90%, the members of the Photography Club use relaxed animations. As School Atmosphere drops, their animations become less relaxed.
- When School Atmosphere is over 90%, they will react to the player’s camera with a friendly pose. Below 90%, they react to the player’s camera with suspicion.
- When School Atmosphere is over 80%, they will only use their clubroom for chatting and goofing around. Below 80%, the appearance of the clubroom changes, and the clubmember perform more serious-looking talking animations.
- When School Atmosphere is over 80%, the Photography Club’s leader has casual, carefree dialogue when you’re talking to him about joining his club. Below 80%, his dialogue will change and get more serious.
- When School Atmosphere is over 80%, they will spend all of their spare time in their clubroom. Under 80%, they will briefly meet in their clubroom at the beginning of the day, and then they will spend the rest of their time hunting for the culprit who has been causing problems at school. Around 5:00 PM, they will reconvene at the club to discuss what they’ve learned.
- They will hunt for the culprit by visiting each student in school individually, and checking each student one by one to look for danger or suspicious behavior. During this process, they will also visit the player to observe what you’re doing.
- The advantage of joining the Photography Club is that if you’re part of their investigation team, they won’t consider the possibility that you might be the killer they’re looking for, so they won’t bother to investigate you while they are paying a visit to every student in school.
- If the Photography Club is shut down, they will still walk through the school checking on each student individually, as long as School Atmosphere is under 80%.
- When School Atmosphere is over 80%, they will react to a murder with the Social Butterfly reaction. Under 80%, they will react to a murder with the Phone Addict reaction.
- When School Atmosphere is under 80%, they will react to a murder and snap a photo faster than Phone Addicts, because they were actually anticipating the sight of a murder. When reporting a murder on their phone, they text 25% slower than a Phone Addict, but 25% faster than a normal student.
- If a member of the Photography Club sees you attack any other member of their club, they will use the Hero reaction and attempt to apprehend you. This happens regardless of School Atmosphere level.
- The club leader is unique, because he uses the Hero reaction instead of the Social Butterfly reaction if he sees you commit murder while School Atmosphere is over 80%.
- If a member of the Photography Club reports you for murder and you get away with it, they will inform the rest of the club. On every subsequent day, the entire Photography Club will follow you around school at almost all times so they can try to catch you doing something incriminating. If you approach them, they will run a safe distance away from you. If you try to outrun them, they will always track you down. The only time when they won’t stalk you is during classtime and cleaning time.
Just in case you’re wondering…the current names and appearances of the Photography Club members are not necessarily final. I may decide to give them different names and appearances in the future. For now, I’m more concerned with gameplay functionality, so names and appearances just aren’t a very high priority yet.

Their characters aren’t final. This build is “95% photography club and the sleuth persona.” Not the complete characters themselves. Much like how the delinquents were in the game for ages with the violent persona but their names and backstory weren’t final yet.
The characters are both final and non-final: Schrodinger’s club.

There’s nothing to know about these characters because they’re not real characters, just placeholders to demonstrate the idea. He’ll talk about the characters once he actually thinks of them.

He was saying that this build is 95% photography club and 5% bug fixing. He was not saying that the photography club is 95% complete. I’m pretty sure these characters are finalized.
He said that the build is 95% photography club and 5% bug fixing. That doesn’t mean the photography club isn’t finished. It just means that he dedicated some of the build to fixing bugs. Read the whole thing before making careless assumptions.
The characters are NOT final. the ideas are. the photography people are just placeholders with no actual function other than to show off this new feature. other than that, they have no use. they arent going to end up in the final games, because they are placeholders.
You might have figured it out by now, but they are temporary, like the original yan chan clones. It was at first yan chan vs yan chan with blu hair, but now its a multitude of unique students. The photography club will be the same
But unlike the student council or the delinquents, they won’t have any other role. The student council and the delinquents, both groups have something to do with two rivals, the main objective of the game. It won’t really provide major importance towards the rivals by fleshing out the photography club.
Have you guys noticed their names are similar to the characters in scooby doo?

I was a good 10 minutes from going to my friend Matt and asking “why do you think there’s not been any update yet” and then I leave the house for a few minutes and WHAM you surprise me! aha! ❤ exciteeeedd
My favorite part of this update would have to be the camera psychics. Just being honest.

Every Yandere-Dev update is like getting high without the side effects. I know I’ve been doing it for years
The science club could be used to make chemicals or drugs to benefit the protagonist whenever needed but I can’t think of a reason what… just a random suggestion

We have the bio lab for that. The chemicals in the science club will be more extreme and rather to cause an uncurable disease- Wait a minute…
or making Midori clones to kill/test out weapons/some other crap
I noticed in your newest youtube video that the photography club members use their phones to snap pictures of the player rather than the cameras around their necks. Will this be fixed in the future? There are cameras irl that can connect to the internet so it’s not too implausible that they would send pictures to the police using those rather than their phones.
Yes but sending a pic with no context like texting seems a bit off. I don’t think taking a pic of a murderer and sending it to the police out of the blue with no text as to where, what’s going on etc. Helps.
Oh, there are cameras that can connect to the Internet? In that case, I might change the animations so that the Sleuths use their cameras instead of their smartphones.
Yeah, but they connect to an app on your phone to send the pictures over the internet. It is a possibility though 🙂

In the future, will the game have characters with different heights?
Personally, I think that it would be cool to add a little bit more diversity, with the character’s body shapes and all.
I was wondering if there is a list of all the voice actors used in the game? I looked for it on the website and the FAQ but I couldn’t find anything.

Since the leader of the Photography club name is Fureddo Jonzu, I’m guessing the rest of the club will have names like these: Darufani Bureku, Beruma Dinkuri, Shagi or Norubiru Rozzaru, Sukubidu Biddu 😉

I’m pretty sure that the names should be kept. I know that we can make soooo many puns out of their name (Especially Scooby Doo puns), but if the names would be changed in further updates, we might not recognize them as we hear their names or get confused. That’s just my opinion.

No, I can’t get them either- even after redownloading the game. It isn’t even telling me there’s an update.

With the student council, the bullies and the delinquents i was so excited because they all looked so unique and different from any other students, but the photography club members are just changed scooby doo characters.
Well, the photography club really isn’t that important or revelant to the game’s main focus, the rivals. The student council and the bullies are an important part of the game’s mechanics and the delinquents and the council are closely relative to the rivals. (I assume you knew it already but Osoro and Megami.)
But the photography club is, sure, at some point important part of the game but they really aren’t that important to really need stand out that much or be really that unique. And as Yandere Dev said, the character’s designs, personalities and names are not completely final so likely and hopefully, in the future they will be changed so that they are not “Just changed Scooby Doo characters”

It took me a second to recognize the reference so I have to admit that at first i was hyped but when I realized of the Scooby Doo thing I felt…. disappointing. I mean Don’t get me wrong, I love each update but… i wish Dev was more original with his characters sometimes, instead of just putting and putting place holders… Well, I think they will be fixed in the future.
He said that Gameplay is his priority at the moment. I’m pretty sure their names are going to change in the future, as well as their apprearence 😮
Did you read the whole article? Because it is said there, with bold letters, that their characters aren’t final. Their characters are not important for the game, only their funcionality, so their apperance doesn’t play a big role for now. YandereDev is only adding the 99% of the gameplay that he needs for Osana to be implemented because everyone keeps asking “Where is Osana!?”. What would be the point of the gameplay just to throw her in when the clubs aren’t finished yet? She will be the last thing added to the game.
Besides, the game is being fleshed out along the way. All of the current placeholders are going to be eventually replaced, but as you can see, people are getting so restless YandereDev has to go and make the characters on a whim to speed things up.
I dont know how to get them in the game i downloaded the launcher but they still arent in my game? how do i get the new updated build on my computer?
I had that problem too. I don’t know why it is happening.
Will we be able to sabotage the Photography Club’s Cork board, or even steal one of the photography student’s camera to sabotage the evidence and whatnot? Also, have you ever maybe considered having a type of blackmail persona in the game? Perhaps say for example if one of the students see Yandere Chan doing a suspicious activity or commit a crime then the he or she might blackmail Yandere Chan into running some sort of errand for them. Maybe if one student has a grudge on the other then he or she will blackmail Yandere Chan into lowering the other students reputation or getting them expelled, or even murder them. Maybe these tasks should even be in a timely manner or the student could send in the blackmail evidence to the school website or even to one of the school staff members. On another note, you have done wonderful progress with the game and I look forward to the completion of Yandere Simulator in the near future.
So glad to see this update. Today wasn’t very pleasant so I needed a perk up. I like the Photography Club developments and I couldn’t help but smile at the “Scooby-Doo” references.

I love the Stalker ideas! I’ve thought this for a while, but the thing with getting a stalker if you’re popular is a really great idea, even if it can be annoying while playing. At least it shouldn’t make that big of a difference in a nonlethal approach!

um i am stuck with the may 18th build but i updated the game three times and even deleted the game and the launcher along with the files and reinstalled them but nothing worked what should i do?

Why would the students in the photography club would want to be detectives when they were just fooling around in the first place?The club leader mentioned that the club isn’t a place if you’re really into photography, so it gives me the impression they aren’t serious at all. They don’t care about taking pictures, and they certainly don’t show the behaviors of a detective before the school atmosphere gets too low.
Just because students get murdered, suddenly they (students that slack around eating snacks) want to become heroes and pick up their cameras (which they initially don’t care) and solve the mystery? It’s not that I don’t like the idea of a Photography Club, it’s just that the personality of the club members don’t make sense to me. It feels too convenient.
Also, a news club or something like that might make more sense to me, since photography can just mean taking pretty pictures, not getting to the bottom of some mystery. That’s my opinion. I see a lot of people enjoying this idea, but this currently doesn’t sit right with me. I hope you understand, YanDev. (I still love the development of your game, keep up the good work!)
It says in the Characters section on the YanSim website:
“As their time at high school draws to a close, the members of the Photography Club are slowly beginning to regret the carefree way they have been spending their after-school hours. They want to look back on their high school years with pride; they don’t want to feel like they accomplished nothing noteworthy during their youth. They are slowly becoming restless as they begin to yearn for a greater purpose; a challenge to overcome, an adversary to face, a mystery to solve.
For now, the Photography Club is just a carefree group of friends…but they would quickly leap at any opportunity to make something of themselves. If any kind of mystery were to present itself, the Photography Club would immediately investigate the situation.”

I was wondering who voice acts the leader of the photography club, I watched the youtube video for the update and thought I recognised the voice but I can’t be sure. I would love to know!
I’m going to be honest.
I don’t believe this is a good/necessary feature. It doesn’t introduce any new or rather said, interesting, game mechanics. The club benefits are useless for the most part and let’s not even talk about how unoriginal the characters are (I am fully aware that they are not final by the way).
They just make the game unreasonably harder, when the first rival is not even implemented. Considering the Mysterious Obstacle, where I believe you should have been working on instead, as well, Osana will be way too hard for the “Introduction RIval”.
I’m sorry, but this feels like a stretch to prove you’re making “progress”, when a milestone still hasn’t been reached.
This is however still MY opinion, so I do not care if you enjoy this feature.
I think YandereDev should add the photo of Fureddo Jonzu holding camera to the wallpapers page!

I think the idea of the characters are finalized but the names are still up in the air because… sucubi dububi? as a name is kinda hilarious and I don’t think he’s taking his precious time to think of names just yet when he still needs to implement osana..

Hey Yanderedev Yanderedev! I have a curious suggest for you… Why don’t you create a new persona called “Insane”? Or something like that
This type of persona will randomly change so you don’t know because if he saw you committing a murder he can act like a social buttlerfly, a hero, phone addict… All the anothers! (Or maybe just three, four of them…)
I think It will be good because if you do, It will make the game much more interesting!
In my opinion the science club leader will be good with this new persona! Because you know, the mad scientists are the best!
