Fixes, Changes, Additions

  • Reverted Horuda’s skirt back to being a short skirt, because the code used to lengthen her skirt created too many unfortunate side-effects. (It would be better to create a new character model designed to have a variable skirt, rather than use workarounds to manually lengthen the skirt of a model that wasn’t designed to support that kind of functionality.)
  • The “empty husk” in the Art Club has been replaced by the Art Club’s leader, Geiju. (The player can interact with him, and he has voiced lines, but he will not react to murder or anything like that, so he’s not very different from an “empty husk” at this point.)
  • Fixed bug that could make it impossible for a character to notice a murder / corpse in the middle of the occult clubroom because of an invisible collision sphere in that room.
  • Fixed bug that would cause certain students to fail to obey the “Go Away” command if they were patrolling between a set of points at the time they were told to go away.
  • Fixed bug that would cause a Student Council member to take food from the player even if the Student Council member was verbally declining the food offered to them.
  • Fixed bug that would cause students’ shoe lockers to remain open if the player went to class while students were in the process of changing shoes at their lockers.
  • Fixed bug that would cause the game’s background music to continue playing during a Game Over screen if the player got a Game Over from a Phone Addict student.
  • Fixed bug that would cause Kokona and Riku to become trapped outside of the school if the player went to class before they walked through the school gate.
  • Killing a student with a blunt object stealth attack (neck snap) will no longer cause the student to spawn blood pools (since there is no open wound).
  • Fixed bug that allowed the player to purchase things from Info-chan multiple times, even when those things were meant to only be available one time.
  • Yandere-chan now plays new animations when she’s around Senpai. Her animations will get progressively creepier the more time she spends around him.
  • Covered up the little gaps on the rooftop that would allow you to look down into the rooms underneath the rooftop (and a few other gaps too).
  • The Student Council will no longer react to footsteps when Pose Mode is active, since it interferes with the player’s ability to pose them.
  • Fixed bug that would cause a Phone Addict’s phone to disappear if the player distracted them with a giggle and then aimed a phone at them.
  • The player will no longer hear sound effects (such as the incinerator burning something) when the end-of-day text is displaying onscreen.
  • Fixed bug that would cause kidnapping text to be invisible if it was displayed after reporting Kokona to the guidance counselor.
  • The panties that you choose while in Yandere-chan’s room will now actually appear on her character model when at school.
  • Fixed bug that would cause Yandere-chan’s hands to linger onscreen when she was taking a photo with her smartphone.
  • There are now 5 “ambient conversations” that occur at school between male students – one for each day of the week.
  • Fixed bug that made it possible to report Kokona to the guidance counselor even if she was not present at school.
  • Fixed bug that would cause grafitti on a student’s desk to turn invisible if the player aimed their camera at it.
  • Fixed bug that caused Yandere-chan to be labeled as “late” for her 2nd class if she was late for her 1st class.
  • The mouse cursor is no longer hidden when entering a Mission ID into the Load Mission screen in Mission Mode.
  • Fixed bug that would cause Student Council members to run to the school fountain after discovering a corpse.
  • Fixed bug that would cause students to teleport around school if the player arrived at school an hour late.
  • Fixed bug that would cause Kokona / Riku to fly up into the air during their love confession cutscene.
  • The little blood-cleaning robot in the Science Club now has an outline when Yandere Vision is active.
  • Fixed bug that would cause a valid Mission ID to be labeled as invalid in the “Load Mission” screen.
  • A character whose family member has died will now have a depressed walk / depressed idle animation.
  • Fixed bug that would make it impossible to select the bullies as targets in Mission Mode.
  • Fixed bug that allowed the player to talk to bullies in the middle of a bullying event.
  • Fixed bug that caused blood to appear on students who were apprehending Yandere-chan.
  • Added the ability to decorate Yandere-chan’s corkboard at home with red strings.
  • Fixed bug that was failing to deactivate “trespass zones” after classes ended.
  • It is now possible for randomly-generated students to be Phone Addicts.
  • Pippi and Ryuto now have the Phone Addict Persona.
  • Made Yandere-chan’s Miku hair more floaty.
  • Added one new hairstyle for Yandere-chan.
  • Populated the Art Club with props.
  • Added a Kill La Kill easter egg. It’s pretty basic for now, but maybe one day I’ll give it more depth. The Kamui was designed by SKY-Lia!

Whew, that’s a lot of changes!

What’s Next?

For a little while longer, I’m going to continue working on features that have been waiting months or years to be implemented. Afterwards, I’ll get back to implementing new characters and the handful of core mechanics that are still missing from the game.

I was considering that it is possible to steal the phone of a rival take photos of panties or something else and upload it to social networks, it would lower the reputation and Yan chan can upload or share photos on social networks to raise the reputation for example take a picture of a cat and things like that

    I also consider that I, as a person being harassed to the extreme, would kill at least two people from my school, the main aggressor and the perpetrator.

    And as personalities that add mechanics

    also the elusive one that when he sees a murder runs faster and hides a room with a key to call the police

  3. wow, I know this game is super fucked up, but for some reason I really like the fucked-up things Dev want to put, like when bullying is so severe even physical scars will be present, and the Yakuza, I really hope these 2 things will be present in the final game. Cute-looking stories that ended being super fucked up are my favorites ❤

  4. good thing about the blunt weapons neck snap. I was wondering why the hell would victim spill blood when they were strangled, not stabbed. I thought it was on purpose to add difficulty.

  5. You should add a mode or easter egg where after 5 days (for now until a rival is added) you won’t lose progress because I like to explore and do challenges with no time limit and I don’t always do stuff I want to do within the 5 days

  6. Lots of polish and detail. Nice!

    Though…pushing Horuda Puresu to murder was pretty simple. Yandere just gave her a target and she went for it. Weird, especially since most seriously-bullied people tend to have passive self-defense mechanisms. Either Horuda was supressing psychotic tendencies before, or she’s ridiculously skilled at manipulating other people. Maybe supernaturally so.
    …That would explain a lot…

  7. I suddenly got an idea,what if yandere-chan or idk someone gossips about senpai and then yandere-chan can go and make him happy because he was sad about the bullying?I think it could be a cool idea,idk I don’t want to be Midori but yeah anyway

    • The game is about operating from the shadows without senpai noticing ayano until she is ready, after the 10 weeks are over. It is not a dating sim. Yandere chan cannot interact with senpai without being creepy as you can see in the new animations.

    I’m glad now that their is no blood pools when you do an stealth attack with an blunt object. I always thought that was weird lol. Keep up the good work YanDev!

  9. Well again, If I was a guy and a girl acted like that at 1:30, I’d know she had a crush on me. Unless I was a total nerd who didn’t “like” girls yet, I wouldn’t think she’s creepy at all. An alpha male would just take the opportunity to get into her pants as quickly as possible. A beta male would be flattered and be nice to her.

    • There aren’t many in Japan, and Dev already stated that it is unlikely that he will have one, not to mention all of the characters already planned.

    • Well… I think you will be able to have gay couples only between Yandere-chan and Senpai: like Yan-kun x Senpai-kun and Yan-chan x Senpai-chan. Otherwise I don’t think there will be more.

  10. As much as I enjoy the new persona, the elimination method you can use seems too similar to the mindslave method, especially if it ends up being something that only works on rivals.

  11. Before starting any discussion, I want to say that you have my support and I m always very pleased to see that you try to expande so much on new mechanics.

    However I have some doubt about the fragile persona. I really like the idea but, and it may be because we don’t have the full picture, or maybe I just miss something, the mechanic looks really, really overpowered. There is a direct comparaison to do with the kidnapping/brain washing mechanic; both will result in the same ending, while kidnapping is way more complicated and time consumming (which is the price to have no blood on your own hands) than spreading rumors. Ultimately, the trade-off to spread rumors compare to any of the other way to remove your rival seems really low. While watching the video, I was imagining that Horuda would adopt a petty behaviour, like throwing water bucket on Osana, which would creat an opportunity to get ride of her (but would prolly not be adapted for severe bulling). Or that Yandere-chan and Horuda would work together to assassinate Osana.

    But for now, I kinda fear the backslash because the mechanic seems too effective. I really hope that the method will get some tweaks (or, for the matter, that I m wrong on how easy it is to do it) and will not be completly removed. Every addition which add on how Yandere-chan is a sick person, ready for every collateral damages are welcome, and the fragile persona is a prime example of psychological collateral damage.

    • It should also require skills in both Social so you can actually pose as a concerned student and Psychology to actually convince her as the photo is VERY circumstantial.
      I know she’s been pushed beyond breaking and would likely believe any amount of flimsy evidence but it just feels like it’s not quite there at this point.

      BTW, Alex, nice job calling her “Horuda Puresu” =D

  12. I’m pretty sure he already said that you can play as a male or female yandere, and than you can make Senpai male or female. So you can be gay if you want in the final game…

  13. So has anyone ever mentioned how useless the katana is in the game (you can’t conceal it like a knife and can’t struggle against heroic students)? Did yandev ever responded to that? I only ask now since it seems like he does care about realism with the weapons; technically a katana is way better at massacring a large crowd than a kitchen knife. At the very least he should let players counterattack the four student take down, maybe in snap mode?

  14. I was wondering if you could give Yandere-Chan a bionic eye, to make the yandere vision more realistic. Then, when she’s using it to track enemies/Senpai, nearby students would get suspicious and/or ask “What are you…doing?” And i think if you used yandere vision near Senpai it would make him uncomfortable around Yan-Chan and she would have to move to continue using it. I also think it would make Yandere-Chan stand out. Also, i like the addition of snapping necks. Have a good day/night/afternoon, and good luck with more development 🙂

  16. You know, having characters talk about (for example) the magical girl anime in the game, seems like a good thing to do with ideas you’ve had and never had any other way of creating. In fact, maybe some fans might create fanart for it or something!

  17. Ugh you’ll hate me but at least I’m not sending an email. Anyways, another persona could be (I’m not sure about a name) one similar to the Fragile persona, but instead commits suicide leaving a note that blames the rival. (You would do the same picture thing in the video) Her reputation would drop and Senpai wouldn’t accept her confession.

  18. this fragile persona is really cool and all but it will be nice if we can help them after they go beyond their breaking point… we can help them recover but it can change their persona to something random which would be really… and by doing that we can be good friends with them and that can also help us in the game……

Having blunt weapons not cause bloodpools sounds really overpowered since compared to a sharp weapon it effectively carries the benefits of the art club and the science club at the same time: you don’t have to worry about being spotted while covered in blood, you don’t have to clean up blood on the floor — you don’t even have to incinerate your clothes.

    • Hm your right, maybe one can only use blunt weapons if they have a high enough physical stat. And/or maybe make it so it’s a super slow weapon so the killing animation takes as long as it would if your sanity was super low.
