Hey! Where’s the video?!

I’m very sorry that my next video is so late!

Over the past year, there have been several times when I was extremely dissatisfied with how a video turned out, but I uploaded it anyway, because I don’t want to keep the fanbase waiting. Predictably, those videos received a negative reaction from the fans. If only I had taken the time to revise those videos – adjust the script, clarify my intentions, elaborate further – I could have avoided a lot of backlash and drama.

The more time I spend working on my latest video, the more apparent its flaws are becoming. I feel like I can already predict exactly what kind of criticism this video going to attract. I feel a lot of pressure to upload a video as soon as possible, but I really do NOT want to drop the ball with this video, since it’s covering most of the work I’ve done on Osana over the past year, and I don’t want that work to have been a waste.

This video is about the “Rejection” elimination method – sabotaging a rival’s interactions with Senpai until he hates her and ultimately rejects her love confession. All of the animations are implemented, all of the events are functional, everything’s working perfectly…but I can’t accurately depict my vision for what it’s like to eliminate a rival until several more features are in the game. Because those features are still missing, I worry that the “Rejection” method is going to seem underwhelming, no matter what kind of video I make about it.

I know that I could make a much cooler “Rejection” video if I had a few more weeks / months to add several more features to the game, but I’ve already kept the fanbase waiting for quite a long time, and I feel like it’s no longer acceptable for me to say “please wait just a little longer”.

Although I don’t intend to keep you waiting for weeks or months, I do want to take a day or two to revise this video; I want to re-write some parts of the narration that sound awkward, put more emphasis on what is supposed to be cool and fun about the Rejection method, and most importantly, take some time to clarify the fact that the game is currently missing some of the features I need in order to paint an accurate image of what the Rejection method is really going to be like.

Once again, I’m very sorry that the next video is taking me so long to make. In short, I don’t feel satisfied with it yet, and I really, really don’t want to drop the ball with this video, so I’m going to take another day – or two, or three if necessary – to make sure that I won’t regret anything about it.

    • Besides, he’s a programmer, not a youtuber: videos can wait, especially if he’s not totally satisfied with them. Nevertheless, I’m worried about the game progress: little to nothing changed in this respect with the tiniyBuild partnership. If this is the coding rhythm, it’ll take at least a couple more years before the game is finished, and a full year for an official demo.

      • That’s because Osana isn’t in the game yet, once she is, tinyBuild will probably do a lot more. He also has unity 5 now, and that’s helping a lot.

      • Ah, I see Clarith, that’s a perceptive remark. It does make sense, Osana is going to be a major step, from which onward the YandereDev “solo” phase could be considered concluded. I also reckon that the remaining 50% of the game should be completed faster, for the reasons you explained but also because the key mechanics are mostly ready or already implemented. I don’t know much about Unity, unfortunately, but I do hope that it will help (it’s deemed to be the biggest Unity updated ever).

    • I love the fanart in this blog hahaha. Take your time, but thanks for letting us know about the delay. I’m eager to see it, but I can be patient if you say so.

    • Don’t worry about it the haters and focus on the game! We all love you and are really excited for the new update. Take as much time as you need, if someone can’t wait they can leave but we’ll always stay with you❤️

  1. Take your time yandere dev!!! We can wait! Haters gonna hate! But they’re just jealous because they can’t make what you make every day!! Love ya and keep up the amazingly awesome work!! ❤ = D

  2. Don’t worry about it, YandereDev. Take all the time you need, because the only person you ought to have feeling satisfied with the Osana update is yourself. And the more time put into your work, the better the outcome, so we’ll be fine with waiting! Love ya!

  3. I agree with what everyone has said so far. Don’t stress yourself about it. We can wait!
P.S love the 2nd meme pic XD

  4. Don’t worry about it Yandere Dev! The fact that you’re taking time with this next video means that you care a lot about what you do and what we’ll think of it. Just remember that we support you know matter what! And thanks for inspiring me to work harder on my passion projects. ❤ =D

  5. It’s alright, take as much time as you need 🙂 I understand wanting to make such a big event as perfect as you possibly can. As someone who likes to think of myself as a fellow creator, I fully support you taking as much time as you need. I’m excited to see what’s to come, but that’s only because I know you only give the best that you can, while also keeping your fan base in mind. You’re doing splendidly 🙂 Take your time until you’re happy with it, and we’ll be happy as well, even the more impatient ones. No matter what, me, and several others from the looks of it, support you all the way!

  6. I was worried for a minute there, but now I’m calm again.
Take your time, I don’t care now if the video’s delayed until the 15 or the 30 or maybe until next month. Thank you for taking the time to explain why it’s delayed.

  7. I really really am a bit mad since i am not allowed using the computer during the week…and you said one or two or three more days which will be on Monday Tuesday or Wednesday for me cause it’s Sunday…but you know what ? I can wait even 45 years for Osana…Nothing’s gonna kill me if you don’t upload her today…Take your time YanDev-Pai ^_^

  8. Yes, maybe it’s best if you talk about the missing features within the video. Many “fans” are idiots and will insult you if you delay the video much longer. I personally don’t mind waiing since I know it will be worth it 🙂

  9. Most of the fans understand you and do not care how long you need if it is not for years. Take your time and we will be even more happier with the results. Quite simple. Well true fans should agree with that at least.

  10. Don’t worry, Yandere Dev. Most true fans wouldn’t mind waiting another month or two if that’s how long it takes to get the video done. You cant let haters boss you around just cause they want the video a few days earlier. you should take as long as you need to make it and don’t worry about what the haters think. If you need a few more days before to finish it/make it better then that’s fine. A few more days/months won’t make much of a difference in the long run.

  11. Take your time Devpai, I’m just happy that progress on the game is going smoothly and I have something to look forward to by either tomorrow or the day after.
If it does end up being Tuesday, at least it’ll be right after my final exam! Watching it then will be the perfect thing to do as I get home

  12. Please don’t be so hard on yourself, Yandere Dev ❤ Ultimately, this is your game and your project, meaning you are the one needing to be satisfied with the video first and foremost. and those causing drama really should sit back for a moment and reflect on this. To be granted direct access to your development progress and your thoughts as you are creating this game is a privilege, not a given, and I am genuinely grateful to you for allowing me to be part of the ride and for letting me have this special and exciting experience ❤ Of course, I am looking forward to the Osana video too, but again, you feeling good about posting it is what is most important 🙂

  13. im just saying we have been waiting for osana for quite along time and we all are happy that you are trying your best but really what i think you need to do is release her to the fanbase then let them tell you whats missing to make it the best you can

  14. If it makes you feel beter about game take whole year to make any flaw disapear, even if its as small one pixel on texture. I believe in you.

  15. Don’t worry DevPai you will get through this even if you do things like that just remember you have fans like us 😀 that aren’t at all like Midori Gurin don’t worry lol.

  16. Don’t worry yanderedev take your time. It is a lot to go over and we all totally understand why it would take awhile. We will still be here for you ^^

  17. Take your time man. You shouldn’t feel pressure to upload the video sooner. Its your game things should be how you want it.

  18. Though i’m happy osana is almost finished and yanderedev wants it to be high quality, i think he has promised alot saying things will take around “This amount of time” but ends up stretching it so far, and often not taking responsibility of it or even ignoring that he said it. I think you should really work on not making promises like that Yandev, you are human and you make mistakes but you should also concider if you can actually say that it will be ready in ‘this amount of time’ if it actually will be that amount of time, or longer, or even not make promises on when it is ready at all, and only say what progress you made instead, to avoid accidently making a mistake and stretching it out.

(there have been lots of instances where you promise something or say something will happen but you fail to actually do as you said, so you should remember that)

I am aware that this comment is not fully related to the post, only partly, but i still think it should be highlighted, dont say things just to make the fandom happy, and dont make promises you’re not 100% sure you can keep.

good luck yanderedev, looking forward to Osana and the game.
Take your time, as though i find it importnant, i dont mind alot if it’s later then foretold.
