In 2015 and 2016, I asked fans for a lot of feedback, but rarely did I ever make videos acknowledging that feedback or announcing how it would affect the game moving forward. I was planning to make a “Tying Up Loose Ends” video, where I’d finally address many of the subjects that never received proper closure in 2015 or 2016. As I started writing out the script for this video, I realized that one specific topic – the subject of adding a small town into Yandere Simulator – was so multifaceted that I could create an entire video about that one subject alone. So, here’s a video about that one issue!
Here are the polls that I’d like you to vote on:
- Does Yandere Simulator need a small town? http://poal.me/wud40u
- How should Yandere-chan obtain money? http://poal.me/4vxs0
- How should Yandere-chan make purchases? http://poal.me/9k2k9a
I’m sure that many of you are thinking, “Don’t talk about that! Talk about Osana! What is the latest progress on Osana?”
If that’s what you’d really like to hear about, then click “Continue Reading” to hear what I’ve been doing over the past 2 weeks.
Osana Progress
Jan 17th~22nd went exactly as predicted in my blog post from Jan 16th:
- I took Jan 17th off.
- I spent Jan 18th catching up on e-mails from the previous day.
- I took Jan 19th off.
- I spent Jan 20th catching up on e-mails from the previous day.
- I spent Jan 21st making my 18-minute video about Twitch.
- I spent Jan 22nd catching up on e-mails from the previous day.
I was hoping that I’d be able to work on Osana from Jan 23rd to Jan 30th…but it didn’t work out that way. I overestimated how much attention the Twitch video would get. A LOT of people contacted me to speak about Twitch. Some of them were former employees, some of them were current employees, some of them were friends of employees. None of them were an official Twitch spokesperson. I still don’t have a concrete answer for why the game was banned, or if anything can be done about it…but I did learn many things about Twitch. Some of this information is what prompted me to spend another day making another video about Twitch.
Speaking with people about the Twitch issue ate up a lot of my time over the past 10 days, and so I didn’t get to make the kind of progress that I wanted to make. I don’t regret this at all, since I think it was important for me to invest some time into this issue, but I’m sure that a lot of people are going to be angry with me for letting it take up my time. Please allow me to explain my point of view:
Twitch is the 39th most popular website in America, and one of the top 100 most popular websites on the Internet. Twitch is probably the biggest source of exposure for a game besides YouTube. Not being allowed on Twitch means that there are millions of people who will never learn that your game exists, and will never broadcast your game for others to see. This is a huge problem that any game developer would be concerned about. I believe it was worth my time to try and resolve the problem.
Over the past 10 days, I did make progress on Osana, but it wasn’t code-related progress. Let me give you some examples of how Osana progressed during that time:
- New voiced lines and animations
- Fixes/adjustments to previous animations
- New elimination-related models and textures
- Fixing buggy aspects of Osana’s Monday interaction with Senpai
- Acquiring the assets necessary to implement the “other factor” that will make eliminating Osana more difficult
Over the past two weeks, I didn’t make any progress towards implementing another one of Osana/Senpai’s interaction events. This is extremely disappointing to me, but please keep in mind that I have a LOT more business to attend to than JUST Osana. Over the past two weeks, I was:
- Fixing numerous critical bugs that were being reported
- Speaking with animators/artists/modellers/composers/voice actors
- Arranging a very special surprise that I’ll be able to unveil next month
- Implementing a backlog of assets that volunteers have been sending me over the past few months
- Speaking to a lot of people about the Twitch dilemma
Over the past ten days, there was not a single day that passed when my focus was not 100% on Yandere Simulator. Despite that, zero progress was made towards the next Osana/Senpai interaction event.
I am Yandere Simulator’s lead programmer, but I am also responsible for everything else about the game, too:
- New art doesn’t get made unless I’m speaking with artists.
- New models don’t get made unless I’m speaking with modellers.
- New music doesn’t get made unless I’m speaking with composers.
- New animations don’t get made unless I’m speaking with animators.
- New voice acting doesn’t get done unless I’m speaking with voice actors.
Developing Yandere Simulator is not as simple as sitting in a computer chair and writing code. There is a lot more do it than that. Sometimes an entire day will pass without a single opportunity to write any code at all, because I’m busy with other matters for 12 hours straight.
(…and then I check the comments section, and see people accusing me of being lazy…)
You can read more about this subject by clicking this link and scrolling down to where it says “Why is the game’s development so slow?”
New Build
There’s a new build today! Here’s a list of everything that’s new in it:
- Added a loading screen that will appear whenever the school scene is loading. (The game engine stops updating the screen after loading reaches a certain percentage, so you won’t see the animation for very long…)
- Students now walk into school wearing fancy shoes and change into “indoor shoes” once they are inside the school. (The current “indoor shoes” texture for male students is not final.)
- Fixed bug that would allow Yandere-chan to perform a low-sanity attack animation loop indefinitely while surrounded by being confronted by a Hero or Teacher trying to confront her.
- Fixed bug that would cause students to focus their attention on students who were reacting to Yandere-chan committing murder, rather than on Yandere-chan herself.
- Fixed bug that would cause Heroic students or Teachers to run in place while waiting for Yandere-chan to finish an attack animation.
- Revamped the code for the Credits sequence so that it is much easier for me to add names of volunteers to the credits.
- Fixed bug that would cause Yandere-chan to freeze when killing students summoned by the turtle in the Light Music Club.
- Fixed bug that would cause Senpai to appear bald if noticing Yandere-chan while wearing one of the newest hairstyles.
- Replaced Ryuto’s voiced lines with new lines that more appropriately convey how I imagine his personality.
- Fixed bug that would cause less than four students attempt to perform a group takedown on Yandere-chan.
- Fixed bug that would allow a single witness to count as two witnesses if they witnessed two murders.
- Fixed bug that would cause Senpai to seemingly ignore Yandere-chan as she was committing murder.
- Attempted to fix several long hairstyles that clip into Yandere-chan’s back when she runs.
- Fixed bug that gave Yandere-chan green pigtails during the Befriend/Betray cutscene.
- Fixed bug that caused distracted students to never exit the “distracted” state.
- Replaced the old Nemesis portrait and icons with a new portrait and icons.
- Fixed bug that caused Koharu to appear bald after witnessing murder.
- Gave colored stockings and colored panties to the Rainbow Six.
- Added physics to the “Miku Hatsune” hair style.
- Added eight new hairstyles for Yandere-chan.
- Added two new accessories for Yandere-chan.
- Added a new hairstyle for Senpai.
- Improved Koharu’s hair texture.
- Added two new easter eggs.
- Updated the credits.
What’s next?
Plans are great…when they’re in your imagination. Plans burst into flames as soon as they touch the real world.
My plan is to spend the next 2 weeks focusing as much time as possible on Osana. I have a surprise planned for Feb 14th, but it shouldn’t take up too much of my time between now and the next update.
Thank you for following the development of Yandere Simulator.

I’ve been saying for almost three years, Yandere Dev keeps getting sidetracked trying to add more and more shit to the game. I honestly do not expect to ever see this game get out of the alpha stage. The game is so far past the original deadline, I’ll be dead and in ground as will my kids and possibly my grand kids before it is ever finished.
If one does not set a scope and stay within in it, that project will never be done. As much as I love the concept behind the game, it simply will never be complete.
This was his idea and still is his game, and let’s not forget that this game is free. Yes it will take a while, but I’m willing to wait.
In full honesty, I love the tiny updates more than the huge rushed ones. The new shoes and the new hair physics and even hmthr glitches are fun to try to find and just think “wow technology”.
Yeah it will take a while, I’m dissapointed too. But it’s still a free game and Dev isn’t a robot, so things will be delayed- he wants to have fun too. But I don’t blame you for being mad, but yandere Dev is still human
Wow okay I mean *the not hmthr, lol
Well it’s not like you’re contributing anything so who are you to rush him? And who would want to play a rushed game anyway? You should be happy he has ambition and is so inspired to keep on adding improvements/new features to the game. I for one enjoy following the games development.
What deadline? He said he plans on a 2019 release.
Calm down man! Do you want the game to be finished soon with bad quality and textures, or to take a while to be completed with a high quality and lots of easter eggs and suprises? To be a real game that will be in the top 10? Comon to GTA? What do you think? Hmmmm🤔
for whom you take yourself to say that , you will try to make a game and we will see ! OK!!!
My husband says the same exact thing.
I agree in order to complete some thing it needs to be clearly defined with obtainable objective.
A street full of shops and stuff would be beneficial to the game and increase the amount of planning that you need to go through to eliminate a rival.
And the longer we wait the better the final product will be.
omg devpai I cant wait for the town and osana or the little street omg keep up the good work on….coding? lol love ya work! 🙂
PLEASE ADD A STORE/PLACE THAT IS JUST FOR FUN! (you don’t have to, but it would be cool)
I actually love the idea of a single street as opposed to a whole town!!! And even with just one street you could still conceivably break into senpai or a rivals house to steal things/ trash it. Just have pretend little roads and a pop up notice like “travel to senpai house?” and that would be it.
I think the one street thing is a perfect compromise between having and not having a town. After all a lot of towns are like that, everything important is on just the one main street. Atleast in my area thats the norm. I hope this is what happens!!!!
Just a street would do. I voted for small town, but the street is what I want. A town would take a long time to roam and seems a little useless to the current game plan. A little something to do on the weekend will satisfy gamers. And it will take less time. On the point of committing murder outside of school or ditching a body outside of school, that is not something that is needed.
At this point (January 3, 2017), the polls are quite contradictory with about 50% of people being split about the new town or not, slightly leaning towards believing a new town is not essential, and wanting to make purchases with an overwhelming 70-80% of people wanting to buy things in a shop.
Would it be possible to add a small convenience store in the school? In some schools, it’s possible to work there part time. Or, an after school activity could be to add a maid cafe to the school and she gets money by the tips she makes.
I hope these could help in reducing the time spent on a town or street since I believe the scope should be limited to a school, and if a second game is possible to create, it’d leave a lot of room for content that is unexplored. As it is, there are many people who have been waiting for the game, and while people being disappointed with the lack of content is possible, I don’t believe a town/street is essential. Also, with each new update, people are still finding more things to do. The game is far past its projected due date, Osana isn’t complete yet, and there are still 9 more rivals to implement in the game.
That being said, keep up the work, YandereDev! Ganbatte!
Thats a good idea
It was mentioned before that the game should be completable without ever having to use Info-chan’s services… I wonder if that is still true? To be honest, I don’t see how beating the game without the Drops menu is doable without the option to buy stuff from internet or stores… which inherently necessitates money. I do think it’s a good idea to be able to use real money to buy stuff from Info-chan, since I think it was mentioned that she does eventually sell the panty-shots for actual money.
Even if we only use the panty-shot currency, I could see there being some significant issues with Yandere-chan’s budgeting. Since there are only 100 students planned for the final game (not counting Senpai, randomly generated teachers, Info-chan, Nemesis-chan, or the ten rivals) there would be an extremely limited number of panty-shots available… especially since you can’t panty-shot guys at all, because they wear pants. Optimistically, that’s maybe 60 total, assuming a fairly even male/female ratio… which makes a budget of roughly 6 panty shots per week, assuming you can always snag the rival’s. I think this would make using Schemes really hard, if not impossible ^^ I really hope currency gets rebalanced in the final game!
I don’t like the idea of a small town, mostly because it’s just sort of assumed that the only thing Yandere-chan does outside of school is follow Senpai… whose schedule is sort of boring, since he just goes back home. I kind of like the idea that she’s structured her out-of-school schedule based on his…? This being said, however, I like the idea that she gets a weekly stipend from her parents and can save up allowance money to eventually buy something that can seriously help take down one of her rivals, whether the storekeep is Info-chan, the Internet, or somewhere else. Something like… “Yandere-chan recieves her weekly allowance. After buying necessities, she has ___¥ to spend however she likes.”
Of course, YanDev will probably never read this. But it is an interesting thought to consider.
You make a valid point
It would be nice a small town but to wait makes it be boring and I think that the work of yanderedev is not easy and please yanderedev in the next update you can put the hair of asuna of sword art online? please
I love the single street idea, but I do understand if it would still be time-consuming to set up. To help cut down time, and if possible, reusing/tweaking some assets from your current town into the single street may cut down time waiting on new assets, and the manga/video game/electronic store could be condensed down into a ‘media’ store. For part-time jobs, I think a similar approach to the club activities would work out, while still appearing consistent with the rest of the game stuff.
The single street idea would be better because 1) it is adding more space to the game 2) at the same time it will keep the game “small” 3) it will add more opportunities for the game (jobs and etc.) 4) it won’t take as long as a whole town. Though if you were to put a whole town, yandere~chan can find’s senpai’s house and stalk him…. I honestly think the small street would be a nice feature and it would be awesome if the maid~cafe was added and Osana~chan worked there as well. Furthermore, it would be nice if the job was in 3D because it is more interactive and fun! ❤
I think the jobs idea is good, but I think it’d also be a good idea to add it and make it Optional. Such as make the allowance something you get(with no real special perks to it unless need be) and if you want to go out of your way to get more weapons, items for elimination methods, etc then you do a job. Of course, that will take extra time.
I would happily wait a year for the full game to be released if it meant having a full small town. Please don’t remove the town.
In the town to add a main street is more common to accept, but compared to 2D games, I want 3D games, so the game has a sense of coherence, more interactive.
2D form, there is an event and then jump animation is not coherent, 3D can be coherent, I like this.
With regard to money, there is no problem with both currencies, just to control the balance, which can be adjusted in the experiment.
—– I English is not very good, the text translated by GOOGLE.
Maybe it is not necessary to have a small town, a street or something similar in order to have many gameplay options. Maybe there can be some sort of menu at the entrance of the school that allows you to choose where would you want to go after school; the maid cafe, stores, etc, and just build them as little rooms with simple interaction like in the persona games. Maybe?
I like this
please let kokona stay in the game, I honestly dont want her to go… she is probably a better rival than kizana, and im pretty sure that evryone playing has gotten “attached” to her, so please dont make her change to become kizana, let them both stay in the game?
IDK I just saw that kokona will become kizana and I was like” no this wont happen”
Kokona will stay in the game . Only she wouldn’t be a rival , and she wouldn’t be a main character. She will just be a side character.
I hope he makes her an Easter egg rival
What if there was some kind of activity at school that they payed students for, but doing it would automatically end the day?
Hi Chara!
just start with the computer and when you have the time whenever you want you can work your way up on building a street
You should add a small town. Though not for part time jobs. That would defeat the whole purpose for panty shots and info chan (one of the most creative mechanisms and my personal favorite feature). It would also be a terrible idea to make the game open world. The reason why you should implement a small town is to sabotage interactions between senpai and a girl outside school. And trust me, that would make me invest in your game.
I think that instead of adding a street, a top-down map of the town should be added with different stores to click on so that it doesn’t seem strange that so many different stores and other things are right next to each other. It also saves YandereDev the trouble of having to model a street.
Whoa! The simple idea of putting a small town in the game makes it getting a brand new dimension to me. Regardless of the time it would take, the Game would clearly get a lot of benefits from such thing and I think you don’t even realize how much yet.
I see video games like potential pieces of art, mainly depending on the relation between the creators and their work, and I think that Yandere Simulator has a really great potential to become one of that masterpieces that we’re all greedy to enjoy more often. So even if it may cause the game to be delay, but without being completely necessary to the game’s relevance, I don’t think you should restrain yourself because of relative deadlines. It would be a pity, if you have both skills and motivation, with the precious freedom you can enjoy, to launch a product you’ll possibly regret not having finish as you would have liked to.
That being said, trying to prevent a game form getting boring by making it a (semi-)open world sounds a bit paradoxical (potential to look empty). Another idea would be to take example on games with multiple reduced environments related by scripted transitions (Ex : Exploration phase in “Life Is Strange”). An equivalent system would have the advantage to be cellularized, with all the benefits it take: updatable, extensible, multiple environment types with the possibility to give unique atmospheres to special places like dating ones (I confess that I would be delighted) and contrary to the alternative of a single street, it would not just look like a big messy overload hub without consistency.
Thank you for your investment in this game. I’m looking forward to seeing the final result. Sure it’ll be great !
Devpai… I really don’t want your game development process to become a democracy, or a focus group. I’m inclined to think that a small town or street is unnecessary. It just feels like it takes away some of the game’s… finesse. The idea of keeping the game confined to a school, with weapons one could expect to find within a school, and a unique currency system of panty shots– all that was part of what attracted me to the concept in the first place. It was simple yet so, so elegant. I think the game would lose some of that elegance if you abandon relative simplicity for the sake of bloating the game with extra features. Especially ones that would drag out the development time. I really don’t want to say ‘don’t listen to the fans’, but on this… maybe don’t listen to the fans?
I think that you shouldn’t bother with the small town – a street would be alright, but not necessary. My recommendation is just use the internet for that or not implement those features at all. ALTHOUGH, those features sound awesome, don’t get me wrong- I suggest that maybe it should be some DLC that is optional that could be added to the game for the full experience. I know DLC is usually just a way to grab money, but I think in this situation it would work well.
Whether you decide to add it or not, I’d ask if you could add it AFTER everything else, so we could at least enjoy the completed game as you work on the small town.
Agreed. Without DLC, the alpha would include panty drops and basic weapons, but DLC would add new weapons, currency, and minigames. Completely optional without being pay-to-play, sort of like the Hearthfire DLC for Skyrim; added homesteads and adoption, but these are just immersive content not necessary for game completion.
Hmmm, He didn’t want to include it later because it just wouldn’t fit right in the game if it was initially developed without it. Suddenly all the rivals and their elimination methods would have to possibly be re-written to cater for events that could occur in the town. sabotaged dates or outings, spying, the obtaining of weapons and other items, corpse disposal and such.
…But… I guess something like the town could be thrown out later as more of an “added content” thing and some simple after school interactions developed with killing disabled just to expand story content as opposed to really being a full extension of the school’s environment.
However, I still believe it needs to take a complete back seat to finishing the game with it’s intended setting, inside the school in a timely fashion. As noted in the verdict video on adding significant battle/fighting mechanics to the game, it would cause a good deal of people to loose faith. Going ahead with it would almost certainly damage the fan’s faith significantly while not going ahead wouldn’t really have much of a negative impact and still produce a worthy game.
I really don’t think a full town is needed, I’ve felt this way from the get-go.
I think a small street with shops down it is much more sensible, and would require far less development time. I live in a small town myself, and 90% of it is just houses, houses and more houses, with the occasional off-license or convenience store. It’s only really the centre of my town that actually has bigger shops, and most of them are all located down one single street.
Sure, having the option of bypassing houses would be beneficial if we were to consider stalking Senpai but, other than his house alone, what would be the point in all the other houses or stalking other students? Stalking them home or wrecking their property wouldn’t really aid in winning over Senpai in my opinion. In fact, it would just give the rivals more reason to cry on his shoulder and get even closer to him. And using the excuse of stalking them to murder them also doesn’t really make sense in the long run either, since if it happened even twice in a row, surveillance of the town by police would be MUCH higher, meaning having the option to stalk rivals would become completely useless after just two uses at most. And adding even MORE mechanics to the game just to make an event out of avoiding police in the streets would be incredibly unnecessary. All this crap would just be steering the game further and further away from it’s original purpose.
This game is so unique in it’s function, please don’t water it down with cliché gimmicks you see in every game ever made. And please don’t take the selfish ramblings of children so seriously; they won’t even be old enough to buy it when it’s finished anyway, assuming you actually finish it before they all turn 18.
Adding a street would give the open-world atmosphere without sidetracking development as much; let’s be real, how many of us are gonna wait a year to spend time wandering around an static town just for immersion when we could be playing the released alpha with a small, but interactive street?
Can we please focus on game development and for the love of god can yandere dev hire some help 😥p
😢 so we can see some progress instead of videos about possibilities apologies and rants. Or at least only update once a month. I get its not my game but from an investor or ran stand point nobody likes a project with no end in sight. Or market it a expansion packs update for the game and charge and hire help. We have been waiting on osana snice october its febuary just saying
Call me mad, but why not use take the Persona 3 approach to the whole street? I can’t imagine a simple menu with a nice pretty background that lets you reach the other locations which are also menus with nice pretty backgrounds would be too demanding to implement, and it would still deliver all of the boons that this street would provide. It would be unwise to me to attempt to add demanding optional features to the game before the core is complete.
what the fuck when i downloaded the new build i opened it up and i got the fun girl screen and i checked the JSON and the name already said reserved and the text still came up and i can’t play it now wtf
I know suggestions can be somewhat frustrating, but how about making the town a DLC feature/extension? When the game is released, players can choose to purchase a “town DLC” to add more features and more intricacy to the game.
I’m sorry if this has already been suggested, or if you have already considered it, but it might be a plausible option for the town. It’s definitely elaborate ans very ambitious, but I think it’d be a great addition to the game!
Having it as a main feature seems a little unlike the YanSim style, however. It’s a sneaky game about manipulation and strategic sabotage- whilst a small town can definitely assist in this, it would make more sense as an extension, or even a side-adaption of the game.
Sorry if this is all unwarranted, by the way. But whatever you decide to do, I’m still going to love Yandere Simulator and appreciate your hard work!!
In short- no, I do not believe Yandere Simulator “needs” a small town. But it would certainly be of benefit, so making it a DLC or side-adaption could be an option to look into or experiment with!!
he did say that he will implement a small street that has alot of what we need, (example: Part time jobs for money, money for buying things outside of school, or even a sidemission where you must sabotage senpai’s date or expose a rival girl for doing something bad (just think of it like seeing kokona with a middle-aged man while you are roaming around the streets))
That would be Amazing ,,, Finish with the Kokona, and throw a picture with an adult
You could implement a lot of the street features in roundabout ways, such as ordering tools online at the school then having a pop up at home saying something like “Yandere-chan picked up her order on the way home.” or during the day trip a flag along the lines of “Would you like to visit a store on your way home?” and have her physically be in the store upon leaving school then warp home and have some time pass after she leaves the store, though this limits to one store per day and I’m personally not sure how after school time works/will work.
In regards to cafe dates and things, they could simply be cutscenes in an enclosed space, the illusion of a big town without there being a big town. This would tie in a lot to actual time but make weekends hilariously short. The idea of, “This Saturday at 2pm, this is happening, do you want to intervene?” or “How would you like to spend Sunday? – Part Time – Go to x Store” etc.
I think the minigames have a lot of potential to break the monotony but also to be irritating if done wrong or in a 3D space – a 2D interface with small games would be better for your work load and would break the monotony far more through visuals alone.
I haven’t played the demo builds yet, I’ve been saving it, but I have been keeping up with your development cycle and I’m really concerned about you biting off more than you can chew – this is a very small operation and you can’t just tell sub-team B to go sort the town out, populate it etc.
The town/street has the potential to add a LOT of life to the game and I can’t deny that, but I think it would be better to do it in illusionary ways rather than populating a busy street. If you don’t go balls to the wall with it it’ll seem lifeless but if you DO go balls to the wall with it it’s probably going to cause new problems.
The delay involved isn’t the problem, I worry about you. You clearly enjoy what you’re doing and you’re a very well disciplined grown man who can obviously make your own choices, but to be too ambitious might be damaging to both the game and you in the end.
“Should Yandere Simulator have a small town?”
Why not have an entire city instead…?? Seriously.
It would be extremely easy with this method: Instead of building a large map; build small tiny areas and “interconnect” them (Like the map in the game Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker). 7 or 8 small areas could be “all over the city” with one being at the beach (evidence disposal/ pantyshot minigame ), the next area being downtown in the mall (jobs / item buying), the next area being in the “abandoned, ghost town” part of the city(paranormal fortune teller / paranormal demon side quests), the next area being in an arcade or japanese shrine, grocery store, etc.
Each small area would have its own activity or mini game with one or two special npc’s (only found in that area) to interact and talk with (like the bar area in the game Catherine). Ideally each different area would be thematically related to the school clubs in some way and you would gain advantages from being part of that school club. Example: One of the areas Yan Chan visits is a park, being part of the gardening club allows her to harvest poison from the plants or cut flowers to leave for Senpai.
After leaving that area, time will advance (limiting the player to a certain amount of visits around the city per week). In order to get to each place around the city Yan Chan would have to take the bus. A short animation could play with Yan Chan getting on the bus and it would drive off screen… Then load the next map.
This would give the illusion of a large city to the player while actually only being small 7 or 8 maps. Although these maps will be tiny compared to an actual fully implemented large town, each place would feel very unique and satisfying to the player by adding vertical or horizontal level design (Example: Abandoned dark cathedral in the paranormal part of the city) The time to develop these maps would be minimal compared to making an entire town with npcs, updating npc schedules, updating side quests, adding elimination methods, etc…
Each of these maps would be a different area of the city with completely different background music, style and feel. Maybe some of the areas only unlock at a certain time of day or certain characters at these places will give out hints of the main story. Each area should have one activity to do, one primary function.
Hello PHer!
Yandere Dev said once in a previous video adding stuff to the game adds years/months to the development. No offence, but a City is quite silly as it would take up to 1 year of the game’s development, possibly even longer; if you want Yandere Simulator to come out as soon as possible, maybe suggest not adding a small town. A town isn’t really that big of a benefit as the City would have many 2D images that are empty/bland.
Thanks for reading!
This is really impressive for someone having to code the entire game together.
Keep up the good work. You’re an inspiration for all us indie developers.
I want them to put on a new hairstyle with two long miku-style collections .. But white ¡¡please!!
I love them, and for that I would like to have in my yandere the two pigtails 😀
A single street would be ideal, with small 2D minigames for sabotage, small jobs and stalking others.
You could even stalk background students for a short amount of time for minor blackmail, and provide Info-Chan this information for favors, having one small embarrassing/illegal thing for rando students counting as one panty shot and an easy but high-risk way to force a few certain joe nobodies to ‘go away’ at school, sending away people who aren’t charmed or befriended for a LARGE hit to reputation.
As for money, I think Yan-chan should have a decent allowance, but not enough to buy premiums like Sempai sanity gifts, manga, cigs or tools without taking up a part-time job, sort of like how clubs can simplify/skip/avoid gameplay mechanic someone dislikes.
Also THIS is an excellent idea and with some minor refining and major simplification might be worth considering
Ultimately you do what feels right, even if it extends development. Consider switching to monthly instead of biweekly updates soon, with mission mode and pose mode keeping us occupied for the longer in-betweens with roughly the same amount of ‘new’ content as you do bimonthly.
Sorry this is long, might get lost in the comments but better that than gumming up your email. Good luck and thank-you!
I think Yan-chan should earn money part-time and it must be simple mini games but enjoyable, maybe like a Dinner Dash…
Hi
Well i know FOR A FACT yandere dev is working on Osana’s sister as well because Alex being a baka relieved it too early
I’ve been following the development of your game for more than a year and though I’d consider to feedback you a couple of times, never made it, doubting that you read a message lost in the huge amount of comments in this section. But, for once, I’ll give it a try.
Some time ago I was thinking what should be the purpose of the small town that you can cross to get to school. I mean, at first sight is just so useless. But then came to my mind that maybe it would be useful if some sabotage-related events happen in town (a “date” in a park, a cafeteria, a town library or wherever else, for example). Reading others comments, the idea of a “small town” in the form of a map is great for this purpose, allowing you to implement more features without having to make an entire town with aaaall the work that that means.
On other hand, I think that YanSim doesn’t need a small town, and I’ll list a couple of reasons:
– No need for stores where to get goodies. Info-chan being the all-what-you-want-or-need character gives her a really cool meaning and importance to her.
– No need for part-time jobs. A weekly allowance from her dad is acceptable in my opinion, making tactic and strategic what to purchase.
– Sabotage-related events that would be nice to happen in town (like a “date” on the park) could be made it without making all the town, just the park. And that would be the same with others places that you think would be good to add (just the inside of a store, or just the inside of a cafeteria).
– The level of detail in the behavior of each character is one of the major virtues of this game. The realism of how will respond the people at school at your actions is currently in a good level and I’m seeing even more improves as time passes. Take that level of detail to a town (even if it’s small) would be infernal for sure and maybe you will need to decrease that level of realism to made it possible for just one person developing the game.
Overall, I think that a small town could be a great feature, but also unneccesary and that some of the things you could implement with that doesn’t need to create an entire town.
Sorry for taking your time and thank you reading this.
Dear Yandere Dev,
I really don’t see why Yandere Simulator needs a small town. I think you should add one, but not yet…What I’m proposing is when there is a Kick Starter for the game, add a town then rather then now. I would be glad to wait months for the Kick Starter AND the town. Make updates for the game until April time, then start working on the town. i suppose in your free time you could start developing the town, but I don’t really recommend it as in your free time you are adding other None-Osana related things. This is just something to consider for the future, I really want Yandere Simulator to turn out as a game people will play countless times, not just some stupid Meme-ish game.
Thank you for reading my Support Yandere Simulator comment!
I’ve been following the game’s development for a long time, and I have to propose something. In my previous comment, I explained “Make a town near April”. I thought about it very carefully, and I have decided you shouldn’t add a small town. Here is a list of reasons why I think a small town couldn’t benefit the game in any way.
-Yandere-chan could access the Internet to purchase things at her home, just like you said.
-Online isn’t really the only place to purchase things, Info-chan provides a selection of items you can purchase.
-Shops/part time jobs aren’t necessary as Info-chan could provide money. Yandere-chan’s parents on the other hand would give her an allowance, like you suggested.
I have a few ideas for earning money as well:
-Stealing money from students
-Stealing someone else’s property that is expensive (For example: Sakyu Basu’s ring) and giving it to someone for some money
-For some students, they will be kind enough to give you some money if you complete a task for them
There are other suggestions I have, but I think I will leave them for another day.
Thanks for reading my Help Yandere Simulator comment!
In all honesty I would like to still have the bike ride part of the game, it’s a small feature that I enjoy, just a bit of fun outside of killing people.
Hello..
I am having problems with downloading new builds on Yandere Simulator, this pertaculiar time the struggle was : My Yandere Simulator was downloading normally , and it suddenly stopped and didn’t continue downloading .
Anybody thinks they could help me somehow? I’m really mad because of this as I want to play Yandere Simulator soooooo baaad.
Thank you.
Try downloading it again. Also, where did you download it from?
Hey everyone! This is a quick comment I am posting to say that if you want to download the game, go to the “Downloads” page and click the Mediafia link. You must have Win Rar in order to do this. Once the download has been completed, open it. Then, extract the “YandereSim.exe” and “Yandere Simulator Data” folders to the desktop.
There is another strategy on how to download the game.
Go to Yandere Simulator’s website and download the launcher. Drag it to the desktop and double click it. It will say “New update available”. Click download. It will take up to 20~25 minutes to download; if your internet is super fast/powerful, it will go faster. (Baisicly, it depends on your internet connection/what computer/graphics card you have.)
Thank you for reading!
Hello. Today, I will tell the people who can’t download Yandere Simulator how to download it.
Method 1: Click the “Downloads” page and click the Mediefia link. (You need Win Rar to be able to do this.) Then, click download. It may take a while. Now, you must open the folder. Extract the files “YandereSim.exe” and “Yandere Simulator Data” to your desktop.
Method 2: Go to Yandere Simulator’s website and click “Download Launcher”. Once downloaded, drag it to the desktop. It will come up with a few options, just click download.

Honestly, if you look at the polls, I don’t understand how Yandere-chan could possibly spend money in a town, a leading option in one poll, without there being a small town. It’s such an interesting sandbox to play in because of all the time and hard work and experimentation that has actually been put into it, So I honestly feel that a small town could only serve to make the game more. Go big or go home type vibes.
The idea that people are voting against having a town but want Yandere-chan to buy supplies from a town is just… ugh
Anyway, the single street shopping area idea was the best one. It doesn’t have to be fancy and the setting is rather appropriate, especially for a semi solo game developer.
While I don’t think a full fledged interactive town is needed. I like that there is a generic town for Yandere to bike around in. I have seen many YouTubers use the biking feature to add to their mini-movies. It brings a bit more life to the game. The town doesn’t need to be populated, but having ‘cardboard cut out’ towns folk would be a nice addition.
Actually, question. I have an Android tablet with functional keyboard. Is it possible to download and play Yandere Sim like this? I don’t always have the chance to play on my computer so will this work?
Hello Yan Yan!
No, sorry. Even if your Android has a functional keyboard, Yandere Simulator is only PC compatible. It says on the website “Yandere Simulator is a PC only game. However, it will be available on other platforms in the future”. Sorry about that!
Thanks for reading!
This is just my opinion, but if a town gets implemented, I feel a bike would be too cliche, but she could possibly ride around on a moped or a motor scooter, She could easily store weapons there too (it would also help with the suicidal frame rate), but in exchange to it, she would need to conserve gas per week? I’m not suggesting, but if Yandere dev likes the idea, he can use it
Even if the deadline of this game keeps getting pushed back, I love watching the game grow. Does anyone else agree? I really enjoy learning more about how a game like this is created. I have been following development since July 2015. Also if anyone loves watching Kubz new myths videos all the time they know what I mean. Following YanSim is like watching a tv series.
I think a small town would take up too much time of the game’s development. Yandere Developer did explain it would take up months/years of game development. A town isn’t that beneficial as Info-chan could provide items that cannot be exposed in school. Money earning could be Yandere-chan’s parents giving her an allowance every day, or stealing money from students. Maybe faculty members would have money in their purse. You would have to steal their purse(s) from the faculty room and place it inside your book bag. This might have to be balanced; for example: If a faculty member’s purse has gone missing, they should search students’ lockers and book bags. Maybe Yandere-chan could be provided with an extra school bag from Info-chan so she can hide the purse she stole. The faculty member should hire a detective to investigate who has been the perpetrator stealing their money/purse. Stealing money is quite easy to pull off. If you find, say Midori’s bag, she would be stupid enough to leave her money in her bag. This puts her money at risk of being stolen. Yandere-chan should be able to contact Info-chan to provide a special something that lets you identify which bag is whose. Most students would be smart enough to keep their money safe. This is a thought, don’t take it seriously to the game’s development.
