What’s Next for Yandere Simulator?

So, what’s next for Yandere Simulator? I have a lot to say about that subject! Enough to fill a 9-minute video! Check it out:

I have already done some planning regarding Osana (I know what kind of interactions I want her to have with Senpai, and I know how I want the player to be able to sabotage those interactions) but there is still much more planning to be done (her side-story, her suitor, how to become her friend, etc). My next step is to plan out Osana, write up all of her lines, ask Osana’s voice actress and Senpai’s voice actor to record all necessary lines, and send the lines to an animator so he can animate the two characters in sync with their voiced lines.

While I’m waiting for the voice actors / animator to become available / provide the materials I need, I’ll spend my time attempting to improve Yandere Simulator in as many ways as possible.

I’m curious! What do you think I should prioritize first?

As always, thank you for following the development of Yandere Simulator!

  1. Yandere Dev, Yandere Dev!
Don’t Focus on the rivals before you at least ad 90% of the Students and the School got the final layout. Otherwise you will have to make every single rival routine AGAIN if you edit the school. This might increase the games development!

    • If you’re saying he should skip all the fixes to the game, that is not even possible. He also explained that you want to feel like you’re playing a demo or some type of finish of the game. Why it is impossible is because of the frame rate the most, animations probably won’t be able to be added until that is fixed. A lot of people are already complaining for no reason about waiting a month with the changes.

  2. I got bored and was messing with the students’ reputations and when I got to Supana the game crashed. Does anyone know why? It gave me the folder code 2016-10-05_192624 .

  3. You are probably aware, but poal.me continues to be nonfunctional for a large portion of the internet. strawpoll maybe?

      • It’s a thing from the first Danganronpa game. The developers want to get a certain rating within the Japanese game rating system and having red blood would prevent that. It became a thing in the series, and kept the blood pink throughout the franchise (except for the DR3: Future Arc anime).

      • contrary to popular belief, the pink blood is merely a design choice! they most definitely could have kept the rating with red blood but wanted the pink blood just because of the style.
also, this is the goriest part of danganronpa. the first and second game are barely gory at all (of course, theres still blood and death, but what can you be expected from a murder mystery video game?) it actually kind of surprised me to see the series get so gory. but also, the anime wasnt directed by the original writer (which was probably why it was so shit, cough cough).
i can say with honesty, though, that its my favorite series ive ever gotten involved in.

    • Yandere simulator would never go in this direction, there is too much un-needed violence, and… this is just people who are…killing? Pink? Why are they insane? This makes no sense to me…
The game isn’t going to EVER be like the hunger games in one room :/

      • Agree. Even though we have a mind-slave, having Yandere-chan set up a battle royale between students will be too much.

As for the pink blood, it’s from the first Danganronpa game. They wanted to get a certain rating and having red blood would prevent that. As for students in the video going insane, the person who set the whole thing up blackmailed everyone into it, and the students fell into Despair.

      • I don’t believe a series should be hated just because it’s “mentioned way too much”. You should actually give it a go instead of saying that it’s bad just because so many people like it. (Although, the first anime was pretty bad. You should probably stick to the games for as long as you can)

    • YanDev is MUCH better than DR. Which, unfortunately for YanDev, is not as big of a compliment as I wanted it to be.

Seriously, it’s not difficult to be better than DR.

    • i’ve always wanted a touko fukawa hairstyle for yandere-chan. you can already make senpai look like byakuya, after all. :’)

  4. Does anyone else wonder how long it would take to add these, he said he will improve it so people don’t get bored while he makes Osana, but how long to this content gets made and added as well? Please let us know more devpai! We want to know whats taking so long…ish
( please don’t reply with saying I’m inpatient, I’m not it’s just that he didn’t say anything about when and how this will take)

    • Pls check the video again if you want, he said he will take a whole month to release the next update so the next update will be in november with a lot of changes and osana

      • no we will get a update without Osana because he needs at least one month to implement her. In the new update he will add other thing so we dont get bored while he is adding Osana. ( Sorry for my bad englisch 😉 )

  5. You all seriously want more students over a better framerate? Look, if he can’t even stabilise the framerate with the number of students as it is now what makes you think that adding more students is a good idea?

  6. Random thought that occured to me: Will matchmaking even WORK for the sub-teacher and nurse?
I mean, with whom would I match them? Students? Considering the sub-teacher is already beyond the levels of “You need to be fired for abusing your authority, you skanky slut”, I don’t think matching her with a student would work… would I match her with another teacher? Ditto for the nurse.
Or will matchmaking just not be an option for those two?

Also, I wonder if there is a way to get the headset and similar without using panty shots… I recall YanDev saying that one could go through the entire game without taking a single pantyshot, but the newer features just show using them, so…

  7. Wait so once Osana is implemented that means the Kickstarter is next…YAY I can’t wait for that (I bet a bunch of people will pay extra for Yandere Kun) I can’t wait YandereDev you are the man. You and Kubz Scouts are THOSE DUDES!!!!!!!!

  8. Those other characters you made are really cool, and the two men with the ?’s, very cool. I only know that the man holding the wine glass is part of the CEO and the old man in the wheelchair could be the founder of the school…maybe. Btw, you should work on adding the two genders in the game while ur working on implementing the rivals. Like you said, there is alot of stuff you have to fix, can this be one of them?

  9. I can’t believe that most people prefer the option of “Higher number of students at school” because the thing that is more important is improving the framerate. After he finished this, it would be even more simple and easy to make new things for the game.

  10. I think Yandere Dev should make things official before having Osana in the game. He should work on the male students and give them new persona, a movement when camera pops up, a male dorm, new animations and stuff. Also male teachers would be great too.

The killing animations should be official too, since the turtle will have to be removed when Osana will be implemented.

Gym and town map should be completed so we can sabotage more events. Also a pool should be added.

Some rooms in the school are empty or isn’t functional yet. Also blood could be even more realistic, making it look like it was dragged instead of having puddles.

I think these all would make the game deeper than it is and would make it easier to implement Osana.

Before all of this The framerate should be higher or we would be playing pictures. So that’s my vote. I do admit Adding new characters will bring a very good school-like atmosphere in the game but still it should be the last thing before adding Osana into the game. Everything needs a framerate improvement in a game.

    • Implementing one rival does not automatically equate to the game being finished. Yan Dev says in the video that he wants any player (of the debug mode) to experience what the end game may feel like, with Osana’s implementation. It’s still a good while before the game is even close to completion.

As people have said in the comments before, what he should likely focus on – in terms of what would be the most logical for other problems – is A) the code of the game that can be improved, as he said, and B) attempting to work on the FPS. Likely the former is linked to the latter.

What’s the point of having MORE things in a game, if said game will just lag even worse, because the code and FPS aren’t optimized?

Once the FPS/Code have been worked on, maybe adding new students or fixing a few of the glitches or minor features: footstep sounds and similar. If the current debug mode looks and works fine, it can entertain people until Osana is implemented with her plot and animations and all that fun stuff.

      • You are right, but the reason I said those wasn’t Osana making the game complete. Osana could just make the things more complicated to implement was just my thought. And the thing he said about him fully implementing Osana just got me thinking about events that could happen with Osana so I said them being completed would make things easier.

Still, you are right about the framerate. It would make improving framerate harder.

  11. Interesting update! My only complaint is that you didn’t credit the videomaker for the Minecraft section:

That’s the only part that annoyed me, but take as long of a break as you need!

  12. guys, i found something rally intresting. I downloaded all of the images on the characters page and looked in the folder and found this…file:///C:/Users/Silver%20Skull/Pictures/Refs/Characters%20-%20Yandere%20Simulator_files/fun.png
    its a picture of her.
    the fun one

  13. Found something interesting when in the dev console on the character website. There is a comment telling you to do the Konami code. If you enter it on the page a secret character will appear. A link to what she looks like is here. http://imgur.com/a/tfKdi The file name is simply “fun”. On the page there is some Japanese text that says (Google Translated)
    OH DEAR …

    Who are you?

    Hehe …

    Nice to meet you.

We are going to have a lot of fun together.

Feel free to try it yourself and give me your thoughts below!

  14. Hey there! Just a quick question:

Is it planned/planned to get rid of the “timer” in the final stages of the game? Currently its really obnoxious and no fun at all to always keep track of the (really fast running) time. Personally I’d prefer if the game would simply be divided in different time-zones (ie Morning, Midday, early Afternoon, late Afternoon, Evening, Night) and each time-zone would have NPC doing different things and being in different places and different possible events and such. Maybe each time-zone could have a limit to the amount of events you could see or maybe certain events would simply let time advance. Idk where Im going with this, I just love exploration in these games and taking my time in stalking/killing, and I fear the timer might be in the way of that.

Maybe sth like this is planned already, its not easy to keep up with all the changes that are happening, but Im curious. I apologize if this is stupid, thought the comments would be the best place to ask such questions.

  15. You’re doing an Amazing job at not just at creating your game but at keeping your audience well informed, which every “early-access” game developers should do. People love being informed and its only adding hype and support for your game. I recommend not implementing this new rival as soon as you feel that you should. You want to give us a real taste of the game, but don’t rush it. I feel that you should fix all the performance issues before stepping into this project. Don’t be a AAA title rushing stuff and releasing it before it’s perfect.

    • Thank you for saying this, I see so many complaints on here about the game when well people really should look at how nice he is as a developer day and night, dealing with people that don’t understand “pointless messages” or don’t even watch the videos and complain. Seriously, he is very generous and actually cares about the people following HIS game.

  16. *looks around the chat, finally decided to speak* personally, what I’d like to see from yandere simulator is either a finished school ground, or fully implemented sanity anims. though I understand why everyone wants more students. more students means less complications when adding the rival, it may lower your frame rate a little but if he has to fix the frame rate every update the game will never be finished. Besides, if I’m going to be stuck with one version of yander for a month I’m going to need more students to learn about, to memorize names, and proximity to senpai. No opinion is right or wrong, just different, calling people names, being rude, and/or showing disrespect is the kind of thing I’m sure YandereDev would not approve of, every time I come on here I see a lot of negativity towards others opinions and a lot of niceness towards YandereDev, I’d like us to be nice to each other. Please and thank you. *disappears back into the shadows*

    • Well, if the code of the game was written more efficiently, the framerate *might* fix itself – at least, that’s what I understand, based off of what YanDev is saying in the video. So, if the code is fixed and the framerate improves, I think this would lead to not having to deal with the framerate every update.
Maybe once in a while, after having added a ton of stuff and polishing things up a little.

I can understand people wanting more students. But that’s like putting furniture into a house, before the foundation is set. Once the foundation is decently stable (code/framerate/lack of severe glitches), then the furniture and further can be added (new students/teachers, maybe even functioning rooms) without worrying that it could lead to the foundation getting wobbly.

Of course, it might not matter much what any comment says, since YanDev will likely focus on what he thinks is the main priority to focus on, before working on implementing Najimi.

    • hello, my name is pipe, took more than a year playing simulator yandere, and I really think you are doing something wonderfully great, the coming of rival girls is something apico, that really have a goal in the game, but it’s that all the attention of rival this to sempai, without actually leaving yandere an opponent fence to her; I know you do not like that give you ideas, but I think this can really be a good idea:

      I thought this:

Second guy: get the fourth week, will be the suplemte physical education teacher, will place many chores has yandere, because the mother of yandere reject it lovingly, will be a problem because every time the teacher see yandere will give some work, preventing him it achieve its goal
      (Difficulty level: normal)

third boy: reach the sixth week, and entered the school for a journalism contest that annually is done in different schools, realizing past events, focused his gaze on yandere, the more suspicious, following her secretly and reporting all attitudes and routines, will be a problem because unlike journalism club, the focus all their attention to yandere

fourth guy: come the eighth week and will be a criminal, for unknown reasons he hated completely yandere, he will follow, and when he sees that yandere is alone, the knocked out yandere offender be a problem because when yandere be knocked out, immediately finish the game
      (Difficulty level: very hard)

fifth guy: come the tenth week and will be a cop, will come to investigate the cause of all the terrible past events, placing cameras and questioning all students, and also analyzing the behaviors of each, will be a problem since placed cameras several useful yandere parties to achieve its goal,
      (Difficulty level: extreme)

what do you think? Is it a bad idea?

what do you think? Is it a bad idea?

    • i actually had a male dlc rival idea. This happens as a special scenario that is like a reimagining of week one. Yandere-chan has her awkward meet up with Senpai however Senpai devolops feeling for Yandere-chan. Senpai will tell his friend Osana-chan that he wants to get to know Yandere-chan better and will attempt meeting her, talking to her, ect. I can imagine Osana saying something like “If you like her then go talk to her BAKA!” It will be about this time that a new boy in school becomes a yanderu himself and wants to kill Senpai in order to get with Yandere-chan himself. The player must play a delicate balancing game where they avoid embarrassing themself within senpai’s love aura while not getting Senpai killed by her stalker, the player can not kill Yanderu-kun and Yanderu-kun won’t kill senpai or do any other bad things near Yandere-chan but if the player makes it through the week without embarrassing yandere-chan or getting Senpai killed Senpai confesses his love and wins. I think it would take all core mechanics and force the player into using them a new way creating a new and unique challenge.

    • The idea of including people who would get in the way of Yandere’s plans is interesting. It’ll vamp up the difficulty. I wouldn’t call them rivals, though, since they aren’t going after Senpai.

The first guy seems to be nothing more than just that fly that’s flying around your head. Bring him to an isolated place, and he’s done for. That’s way too easy to take of him.

The second guy is also an annoyance. Plus he seems to be a bit harder to implement into the game. What prevents or discourages Yandere-chan from not doing any of his tasks? And we may already have a character who wants revenge towards Yandere’s mother, the female ghost in the restroom.

The third guy is like the journalist who investigated Yandere-chan’s mother. Seeing how Yandere-chan will deal with him would be interesting (possibly getting her mother to help her). There are few problems with this idea though. How would he be implemented into the game? How would Yandere-chan notice him (by spotting him, having Info-chan telling her, etc)? What if no one in the school died since the start of the game (Don’t forget about all of the non-lethal ways of eliminating a rival)?

The fourth guy is almost as easy as the first guy. Yandere-chan will just get a friend to follow her and then tell the counselor that there is a student harassing her. Plus, having the student to suddenly knock over her without any struggle is just game breaking. Unless you are suggesting that this character is a psychopath like Yandere-chan, I don’t think he will fit into the game.

The fifth guy…He’s just a clone of Megami Saiko. Except that he’s a cop. And well, the school would not allow the police to stay at the school unless it’s absolutely necessary. Plus to analyze all of the students would be too much for one guy.

    • Out of curiosity, what would do that? I mean, what would be the point of adding the option for a female Sempai right now? Yandere doesn’t interact with Sempai, none of the rivals really do… Sempai is basically another student. He could be replaced with a green, standard alien at this point in the game and it wouldn’t make a difference.

You can have your opinion and all, but… well, what’s the point of adding something into the game that has no purpose right now, except maybe aesthetics?

  18. yandere dev my game keeps crashing and i dont know why but whenever im going from the calender to yandere chans house or from her house to school my game lags for a long time and i keep crashing when i go to school. do you have any idea why this is happening? someone plz help

    • Are you clicking/pressing any keys? If so, try letting your computer idle while you wait for the environments to load up. This was a problem in previous builds and is a result of your computer trying to handle too much information at once. Have you tried using the lowest (Fastest) graphics setting? Have you had the same issue with previous builds?

  19. Yandere dev, when you ask someone to follow you in yandere simulator or takes you to kill or to see a body or to hijack but what if you do so type: asks to go and goes to the incinerator and talk to rival ” when he was walking I saw like a kitten coming in there you can see ” so when the rival is looking to yandere chan empura rival takes something to leave the locked incinerator and burning her alive without anyone call the police and also I always thought it it’s just an idea

  20. I love this game. If i have to wait 1 month or 2 or less i don’t care actually. I know that you’re actively working on the game and I will support you in that! Love your work, keep going on and strong!

  21. If I may suggest for you, Yandere Dev, take vacation WHILE they are working on Osana. Even for a couple of days, I’m sure it’ll help. Take some time to fully develop characters and maybe add or improve things on them. After your vacation, work on minor bugs reported and good cutscenes. Oh and I hope that e-mail problem is fixed. To sum it up, take a day to yourself and don’t work too hard.
    Love,
    Falconswipe

P.S: I’m sure you’ll get a good laugh out of this

  22. Guys, Guys! You probably already know but if you go to the characters page and do the Konami code (up up down dowm left right left right B A) a secret character will appear! there is some text which reads:

    OH DEAR…

    who are you??

    hehe…

    nice to meet you.

We are going to have alot of fun together.

After a while the screen will turn off like a TV…

    You already knew?
    aw, okay…
