What’s Next for Yandere Simulator?

So, what’s next for Yandere Simulator? I have a lot to say about that subject! Enough to fill a 9-minute video! Check it out:

I have already done some planning regarding Osana (I know what kind of interactions I want her to have with Senpai, and I know how I want the player to be able to sabotage those interactions) but there is still much more planning to be done (her side-story, her suitor, how to become her friend, etc). My next step is to plan out Osana, write up all of her lines, ask Osana’s voice actress and Senpai’s voice actor to record all necessary lines, and send the lines to an animator so he can animate the two characters in sync with their voiced lines.

While I’m waiting for the voice actors / animator to become available / provide the materials I need, I’ll spend my time attempting to improve Yandere Simulator in as many ways as possible.

I’m curious! What do you think I should prioritize first?

As always, thank you for following the development of Yandere Simulator!

  1. ok
    1. if you need more students just add rival-chan already! (you could also add back updated versions of victim-chan, witness-chan and student-chan)
    2. what are you waiting for a pokemon easter egg then!? it could be that yandere-chan is dressed as ash/misty and she can throw pokeballs at students that could cause one of these, one could be that when she throws the pokeball she traps the student (and blood comes out of the pokeball) and when she realeases them they are just corpses; or the can become special mindslaves with powers

    • 1. rival-chan only exists for debug purposes to test the red outline in yandere vision. She will no longer exist once Osana is added.s Her model is merely a previous Osana model. Victim, Witness and Student… I haven’t gone back far enough to see any of thsoe, but I’m guessing those were just debug testing students as well.
      2. No, he isn’t making a Pokemon easter egg, his life does not revolve around developing YanSim. He is going to take the holiday then so that he can play Sun/Moon during it.

    • 1. he already said that he may add rival, victim and witness, the only one that he has never talked about is student-chan
      2. I never said during that time of his vacation
      3. at least I’m not sending an e-mail with this it’s just a comment, I’m just sharing an idea on the comments, I use an enthusiastic mode of speaking because I like that not because I’m asking or rushing him to do these stuff, a lot of people here have been morons to everyone, this is what I prefer the yandere simulator wiki, the people there are always kind

      • 1. “Osana Najimi is the first official rival, Rival-chan is a temporary placeholder stand-in who represents the concept of a rival.” YandereDev exact quotes on Twitter. Take it as you will. (twitter.com/YandereDev/status/661279626191200256)
        2. YanDev said that he makes easter eggs for fun. If he doesn’t want to make a Pokemon easter egg, he won’t make one. And looking at your suggestion, that would take a very, very long time to make. Time that can be used to develop the game. A simplier idea is just to make Yandere-chan wear a Pokemon suit and use one single Pokemon move.

• I don’t think you quite understood the video. Yanderedev is planning on adding Osana very soon, but he needs a lot of assets (models, audio, animations, etc) to have her be both functional and be as full of personality and life as possible. The game would be no fun if the main characters were functionally identical to every other student. He’s planning on giving us a stable and semi-polished version of the game to hold us over for the month or more that it takes to implement Osana. (On a side note, as interesting as your easter egg sounds, I don’t think he’s planning on using his vacation time to work on the game. That would defeat the purpose. He may add it after though, you never know!)

  2. I died when he read the name XD
Also why no one mentions the *spar* function? I’d like to work on my button pressing skills first before I start a fight x.x
Also why can’t Yandere-chan sit down?? There are tons of benches and places to sit yet poor Yandere is always always always always always always on her feet.

  3. (I know he has the poll and all but I still would like to place in my 2 cents)

    Prioritize:
Coding and Frame rate should be done soon as possible in my opinion. While I may not be experience in writing code, I’m considering how Yandere Dev has mentioned on many occasions on how the coding and frame rate could be fixed. If he has the capacity to do it and will most likely be in a long (or at least extended) period of wait in order to get assets, then I think he should spend that time working on fixing the “base” before trying to add on all the new items.

Of course, there is the argument that he could implement all the other items and then fix up the coding so he only ends up doing it once and not over and over. This could be true but he may end up encountering less issues if he fixes up what he can now and perhaps it won’t be so buggy in future builds. I’m also thinking of how he spent the past 2 years building up codes, now is probably as good a time as ever to make it as efficient as possible and have a smaller portion to deal with after adding in other features, don’t bite off more than you can chew as they say.

The next few are more like a “group” of priorities because they don’t necessarily need to be done in any order but I separated into 2: functionality and cosmetic.

    School Nurse functionality
    Guidance Councilor functionality
    Teacher interactions
NPC reactions (blood, body parts, weapons etc)
    School subject bonuses
    Footsteps
    School locations

These are the ones that are going to be a big part of gameplay and have some extended sort of function to the gameplay. To me, they are next to focus on due to that reasoning. I debated on school locations since at would be more of a “cosmetic” reason but it’s not just plopping in a building and adding textures, they need to be viable in order to do senpai/rival cut scenes (as stated YanDev stated in the video, there will be 5 for each rival) so to implement more of the school locations would actually be more of a function then just extending the surroundings to explore.

    NPC animations
    School Population
    Save and Load
    Elimination cut scene
    Intro cut scene
    Placeholder models/songs
    Pose mode

While there is no order to the functionality group, the cosmetic group does have a tiny bit of an order. Predominantly my top and bottom 2. I did purposely put the student population and animation up top because those are ones I am personally wanting to see soon. As stated in a previous blog post; I mentioned about adding to NPC animations and routines that will make them more unique. Now obviously it won’t be “rival-only” type level but you should still be able to tell someone who is a loner vs. a social butterfly when looking at a glance. Right now NPC are very limited and all loop the same animations. You could easily swap 2 NPC’s and it wouldn’t really matter. Not that every individual should have unique animations but each “personality” type should have their own sets of animations. I mentioned before, loners would stick to the walls, be farther away from others, even when just walking down the hall, and their posture, depending on the type, would vary. For example, some loners could be more cowardly by being hunched over, clutching their books to their chest, loners were are more indifferent than scared would still keep away but would keep their belongings at their side and not even spare a-glance at others (though this could end up becoming the “apathetic” personality when I think about it). Then you contrast it by having social butterflies who would walk in groups, often side by side or if they were in a circle shape, some would even walk backwards, they would be more likely to swing their bags around and be a bit more careless in attitude. It would be very apparent about the type of people they are simply by their walk animation instead of everyone using the same one that is currently in use. So I am hoping to see more variety of animations from already existing students before adding more.

The remaining ones are very minor additions in my opinions and aren’t too much to worry about at this point. While it will be good to get that cut scene of the noose we have been waiting for and getting an intro cut scene again (I personally like the one where you incorporate the senpai customization into the dream sequence) but it’s not “horrible” if they are missing right now. As for placeholders, they are that, placeholders, if you have what you want to replace them with, go right on ahead but if not, just don’t be too worried about them, those are something that could end up being changed who knows how many times and so it’s low due to this.

The pose mode is below for similar reason due to the fact that the mod has been created and will no doubt be updated along with new builds as needed, not to mention any other new mods. While I think it’s great wanting to add it for the fans, right now, for a debug sandbox, it’s not necessary, especially with an already existing mod for it. If it’s something you’d really feel the need to implement then go on ahead but it’s something that could be saved till the very end.

Other than that, feel free to take a break, recharge, and it’s fine to do something a little fun. I hope you get Osana implemented in the time you wanted to! I know that’s been the goal and rooting for it!

  4. Your little minecraft clip, so you are a fan of the song “In Search of Diamonds” too? I love that song, I have it on my playlist I play in my car all the time.

  5. Personally, I’d like to see new NPCs, reactions to blood/weapons/body parts, and footstep sounds next.

New NPCs would be interesting to learn about and stalk (and kill). I’d especially like to see more sibling characters! A reaction to blood and weapons would add a new obstacle in playing around with the debug.

Those two aspects would tie fans over until Osana’s debut, I think. Footstep sounds are just something I’ve personally wanted to see.

    Also:
Take your vacation, YandereDev! Enjoy it. You’ve more than earned it!

I’ve long admired your dedication and attention to detail. The debug build is already infinitely better than some games I’ve seen because of your determination to get rid of bugs and make gameplay balanced.

  6. I’d like to see some more notable male characters. There are many notable female characters, like Yan-chan, the teachers, Oka, the Basu sisters, Kokona, Midori, Mai Waifu, Pippi, etc. But the only notable male characters are Senpai, Budo and Ryuto

  7. The majority of people seem to want more students at the school, but here’s how I see it. More students will most likely result in even lower frame rate. Depending on how optimized the students are it may not be that bad but it will still be at least a little lower. Second, what’s the point of having more students at this point in development? Right now I’d say that there are plenty of students to allow the player to do everything that the game has to offer at this point in time. If the game had deeper stealth mechanics it’d be a different story but that isn’t the case just yet. At the moment I feel like Yandere-dev should be focusing more on polishing old mechanics (end-of-day/reacting to weapons/stealth mechanics) or implementing the essential, partially complete, ones (nurse/guidance counselor) I also feel that a save/load system wouldn’t be that great to have at this point. There is only one week to play through so losing progress after one session wouldn’t be too bad. Also, because the game is constantly changing, the save/load script would have to be constantly updated to save everything that is being added that requires being saved. Now this is 100% my opinion and, obviously, he can do as he pleases. I’m only writing this to give my insight of what, from a design standpoint, would be the best to add at this point in time. (Also because all of the unimplemented mechanics are at the bottom of the poll which doesn’t make sense to me) Thanks for taking the time to read this! -Gabe

    • UPDATE: My priority list
      FPS
      Deeper Stealth Mechanics
      NPCs Reacting to Blood
      Teacher Interactions
      Functional Nurse
      Guidance Counselor
      Intro Cutscene
      End of Day Sequence
      More NPCs
      Saving/Loading

      • I agree 100%.

Having more students will result in screwing up lots of stuff. I know it isn’t exciting having an FPS fix, because you want NEW things, but in the long run, would you really have fun when a game gives you like, 15 FPS? No, so what’s the point of adding new things when they will just cause you to get frustrated (cause of even less FPS) and not play, when you can fix the thing that will make you frustrated first, then add new things~

  8. Honestly, I can see the point of adding new students to the game, (It adds more challenge to the game: if there’s a variety of students it’s more harder to get away with murder, especially if trying to kill someone in the hallways.) but it makes more sense to give the currently existing NPCs an more basic schedule.

I also like the idea of uvizachan ‘s post (in the older comments section ☺), whereas they have their own special actions.

  9. The last half of November seems like a good time to take a break. In the USA, at least, we have Thanksgiving, so we traditionally spend time with families and people we care about.

    …Right?

    …Right?

    …Bueller?

    • Yeah it just says “nip” on the page so I’m not sure what the issue is. The result is the same on my phone. (I accidentally posted this at the bottom too haha)

      • Excuse you, but you are using “you’re,” incorrectly. It is a contraction, which stands for “you are,” therefore correcting him/her on their grammar is quite…ironic.

In this case, the correct version would be “your,” thought I might point that out. 🙂
Also, speaking of correcting, “I,” should be capitalized for it is a proper noun, all proper nouns are capitalized.
Not only that but when you start a sentence they should always start with a capital, the same with “Yandere Dev,” for it is a proper noun. Not to mention your use of conventions is extremely poor, for there is no punctuation at the end of your sentences. Sentences should ALWAYS have punctuation. Have a great day! 🙂

~If I made any typos, please note me, I am always looking for a chance to learn. 😀

  10. Hello?
Ugh! I Told you to stop calling me, you creep!
Like I Said, im not interested. If you keep this up i’ll call the Cops!
What! No! Leave him out of this!
look, I dont care what you say to me, But dont you DARE do anything to HIM!
I Swear, if i see you anywhere near him I’ll kick your Ass!

Possibly someone trying to hurt a relative/Senpai/Pet?

  11. I think something is wrong with the Poal.Me website because when I went to it it was black text on a white screen reading NIP. I tried going to just the poal.me website, not specifically YanDev’s poll. It said the same thing. I think their website has crashed.

  12. Poll link is busted again.
And that sounds like a lot of work. I wish I could volunteer to help, but sadly, my expertise is fiction writing. I’d volunteer to help with the side-stories, but it’s not for me to mess with someone else’s work like that. Good luck. I hope all goes well with the next few months.

  13. heres my 2 cents, I think it would be a good idea if yandere dev implemented one new student a month but the rest of the time fix the game best of both worlds

  14. cool yandere dev can i say you an idea you can do you in the game and be the husband of yandere or mywaifu

  15. Yanderedev – It’s good to know the game is making such good progress!
Actually right now I think the most important issue is to refactor some of the code to make it easier to maintain, e.g. There are a lot of if-else statements in the Student Manager that refer to the student ID. It would be better to have a separate class for each student where the daily routine and various triggers are defined. While this will not present any new spectacular features to the fans, it will make future coding way easier for you, which I believe is way more important.
Looking forward to meeting Osana in person! 🙂

  16. My priority list:
    – School population
    – Footsteps sounds
    – Improve framerate
    – NPCs responding to blood, weapons, body parts
    – Nurse functionality
    – Interaction with teachers
    – Guidance counselor functionality
    – Intro cutscene
    – End-of-the-day results visual sequence

  17. My priorities:
-Framerate (it’ll probably still suck on my computer but whatever)
    -Optimize code
-NPCs notice blood, body parts (weapons maybe not yet, since the debug floor weapons might get messed up if that’s fixed)
    -Fix bugs
    -Teacher interaction
-Functionality of nurse (maybe there could be a debug command to give Yan-chan the syringe and tranq since this would make kidnapping a lot harder)
    -Functionality of GC
    -Cutscenes

  18. You should probably start fixing all the bugs that hasn’t been fixed yet, then you should start adding more features to the gameplay like talking to the teachers or being sent to the guidance counselor, then you should start create more students.

  19. I believe from a gameplay standpoint, you shouldn’t worry about the game’s aesthetic (I.e clutching through wall, collision, etc,) until after more things are added such at nurse and guidance counselor functionality. Adding a crop framerate would be nice, but at the moment I think hhe thing you should do first is adding function to AL the things you want to function, then aesthetic, the riva

  20. Oh, this game *–* I love it!!! I would love this pose mode thing to be implemented in the game, it would entertain me for months ^^ I’d love to see Osana fully implemented too. But it would be good if the nurse and the guidance counselor had a function, AND the students would react to blood and dismembered bodies.. That would make the game much harder, but it would be really enjoyable. It was so hard to vote, because all of the options are really good. But anyway, this game is already awesome, I can’t wait to see the full game x3

22. This is unrelated. But am I the only one who was to be able to matchmake same sex and have a same sex Senpai?… I just would really like if it was implemented for the LGBT+ community ❤

    • Am I the only one who is getting sick of people demanding same-sex/’alternate loves’ being added into things? I get it, homosexuality and similar has been getting a terrible deal for a long time. I myself am part of a minority in terms of my sexuality, but do we really need it added into EVERYTHING?
It’s like religion: don’t force it down my throat. If you have it, awesome. Having it in some things, awesome. But demanding it everywhere? Makes one just as bad as those who demand it’s not there at all. Moderation, is all I ask for.

    • @CatMuto is right :v

you don’t have to write everywhere your preferences. your nick shows me that you’re “special snowflake” :/

Who cares about your ‘community’? Devpai added it cause he wanted to.
Besides, he once wrote that people in japanese highschool (who are not straight) won’t admit it, until they finish school. :v
I like yaoi (and a lot of these things) myself, but…seriously? Writing about “that feature will be implemented because of our greatgreatgreat community?” I’m sick of it.

Every developer does what he want to. Not because of some ‘community’. Stop seeking an attention. :v

      • @rosenorubi: Besides, it’s already clear that there will be a feature to have a female Sempai, effectively making Yandere-chan lesbian and the rivals bisexual. (since their suitors are male) Wouldn’t that be ‘enough’ already? Plus, you know, the entire point of the game is what you DO and not the gender of the in-game characters.

  23. I think the top priorities are the framerate, the footsteps (I think it is necessary for Osana to notice that you are stalking her) and the guidance counselor (Ayano should finally be punished for her actions, especially in an update like this when everyone tries to kill the first rival). I don’t see the point in adding new students if Osana the most important thing in the next update. Adding a routine for the nurse might also be a waste of time, because we won’t even be able / don’t even need to tranquilize Osana because of her routine and the whole befriending thing.

Please tell me if there are mistakes in my grammar, thank you. 😊

  24. You should definitely prioritize optimization of code to run at maximum efficiency for the current build before creating more possibly not 100% efficient code, if you do create new content without optimizing old code, it’ll eventually build up into a massive problem that’ll take a ridiculous amount of time to fix.

  25. I’d say wait on adding new students until you implement Osana; that way, you won’t have to change their routines(presumably some of them will be tweaked to remove opportunities to kill her) twice.

Code optimization and students reacting to blood and dismembered bodies are respectively the most important and game-affecting changes at this stage, I think.

  26. I do feel the frame rate should be prioritized, but im HONESTLY in line with prioritizing the blood and body parts, and weapons being noticed. It’s just one of the things that Stands out weirdly to me in “gameplay” it also seems like something that should have been done a long time ago because it adds to the students notifying teachers/running away. I’ve dismembered bodies and put them all outside of the classrooms for people to see, and i was sadly disappointed when no one screamed.
//It is odd running around with someone’s head in public too. XD

I also agree the nurse and guidance counselor should have functionality. This adds to what i;ve said above, I feel it adds more to the “challenging” part of the puzzle. You cant tranquilize as fast and easy with a nurse. AND it would help from getting an Instant game over for small things
//because she’s supposed to be sent to the guidance counselor for some of them,

And my last actual concern as someone who plays continuously.

    Save and load.
i cannot stress this enough ;n;/ I leave the game open ALL night so i don’t have to restart.

    // Personal note: //

I believe You should weigh this yourself Yandere dev. ALL of these people are voting for More students,OVER frame rate. More students would destroy the framerate even more at this time. Out of respect for others, They just want more people to kill. XD
i mean, I would love for there to be more students, But i feel that should come AFTER the frame rate problem and the problems i mentioned above.
I don’t see why adding more students would be more logical than ANY/ALL of the other choices first?

just a personal opinion i noticed. I honestly think you should choose yourself what needs to be done first. You’re usually logical about these sort of things, and us as fans usually want the most exciting,(New interesting characters)

  27. Do you what to kill your rival at school? Well now you can with yandrere simulator.
    1. Pick your rival
2.take them to the light music club
    3.pray to mister jazzy feet
    Enable sanatiy animations
    Summon weapons
    4.make yandrere chan fully insane
5.stab/slice/smash your rival by mashing the attack button
    6. Enjoy the stress relief
    7.contomplete why you did that
(Forgive Grammer and spelling mistakes thx

  28. I would really love to see some new characters. New tasks, relationships and maybe.. New personality types? Or maybe the new students will just be normal. I’d still like to see the new character’s appearances and backstories. (If, that is, they have them.) Also, I’d LOVE to hear some new voice acting! I mean, Musume’s only crucial to one elimination method… And she has a fairly amusing voice. (Well, at least for me.. I laugh at everything.) So maybe some other students will have funny or cute voices! (I mean, one can only hope so…) Good luck YandereDev! And if you, or anyone else reads this comment, have a great day/night/afternoon/morning. (Man, I’m in a good mood for some reason. Yaaay.)
