December 15th Progress Update

Aw, shucks! I was a few minutes too late to meet the “before midnight” deadline (in my timezone).

As usual, the latest YouTube video is the best way to learn about the latest progress:

Yes, you heard that right; there’s no new build available, and I cannot provide an estimate for when the next build will be available. Game development is too unpredictable. I keep running into unexpected hurdles that take lots of time to overcome. It’s probably time to drop the “every 2 weeks” update schedule.

I’d love to have a new build available within the next few days, but I can’t provide any guarantees. However, I feel very certain that there will be a new build by January 1st.

The only thing I can guarantee is that if I receive less e-mails, I’ll have more time to work on the game. Have I said that enough lately? Maybe I haven’t said it enough. Maybe I should write a few dozen blog posts about how much I hate receiving stupid e-mails. Hey, guess what? I hate stupid e-mails. Please stop sending me stupid e-mails.

  5. so then, does this mean only Martial Arts is joinable? or does that mean ALL of them is joinable? (considering the gardening club spoiler there)

    likewise, does that mean all the personalities have been implemented? or just the rumors-personality?

    lastly, i’m really really really curious who that mystery laptop person is, and what that room was! O.O

    PS: i love how mr. Dev demonstrated the “stop sending me stupid emails” in the video with the computer throwing mails in senpai’s face XD

    • He’s still implementing clubs into the game. If it took him a month to have one club to exist in the game, allowing the player to join (and reap the advantages of being in that club) is going to take him a bit more time.

      The same with personalities. Not a game developer, but it doesn’t take a genius to know that it takes time to create NPC behavior. He could have put in all of the personalities he wanted in the game earlier, but I think it’s faster for him to just set up the bare bones of the features he want to implement before adding more to each feature.

    Take care of your health, YanDev. I know it’s important to keep the fans updated with new versions, but there’s no need to keep a schedule on when to update. It’s way better to have a nice build to experiment and play rather than a few sloppy features filled with bugs. It’s gonna be straining on your health too.

    So don’t listen to ’em whiners. 🙂

  12. You sound tired YanDev 😦 Don’t work too hard during the holidays ok? It’s okay to take a break right now.

    Also, dropping the update schedule on the 1st and 15th of every month sounds great, you’ll be less stressed about having something to show when the deadline comes. I think most people will be happy just seeing a simple progress video every month or so like today, just to see what’s coming up, even if it doesn’t include a new build.

    • To add more to my comment, you shouldn’t create an update video every two weeks. I’m content with a monthly update with a possible update preview video (that’s about 30-60 seconds long) in between updates.

Well, then you just have to change the update schedule from 2 weeks into 4 or 5, because now you need time to program everything and be sure it works and… game developing things Everyone is happy with this update video, even if there isn’t any build, because the things there will be in the future! But please make sure to take care of yourself as well, we don’t want you to die or something ;_;

    Also, the red haired dude has a hot voice 10/10 would talk to him everyday

    • he didn’t say particularly about “comments” tho he did say he loves fanarts and cosplays from fans 😀 (though one fan asked him about fanfic and he said he doesn’t have time to read…. sadly but understandable)

    • Well, complements isn’t a part of the list he provided us. While I doubt that he would admit that complements are annoying, they can take up a bit from his time.

  23. ‘Omg dev is a horrible person for trying to tell his more annoying fans to stop send him emails instead of kissing their asses and accepting their suggestions to change the game with ideas the dev doesn’t like or agree with!!!
    There that should give yanderedev a piece of my mind and showcase he’s a scumbag with no proof while thinking he should put up with rude fans and haters just because he’s dealing with the public!’

    Joking and sarcasm aside, and also b4 someone rages on the dev again, keep up the good work dev and try not to overwork yourself for the sake of your own health. It’s nice to take breaks every now and then. You’re dealing with a lot and it really won’t bode well for you if you try to please everyone. No one (reasonable that is) will blame you for it.

  34. For every 1 person I see bitching about YanDev’s late updates, I see another 10 people defending and reassuring him we can wait. That makes me happy.

    Anyway…doesn’t this build look amazing ?? ? like sh*t! I wasn’t expecting so much content. I’m super excited for the next update 😀 😀 I’m actually really glad he’s decided to do this. One update a month (or so), with biweekly progress updates on the blog is perfect, far as I’m concerned.

    Who wants to speculate about Computer Girl with me? Is she connected to the Tape Man? Is she someone who’s aware of Yandere-chan’s actions and personality? Is she after Info-chan? 😮

    • I too agree that YandereDev should feel free to slow down the release of new updates to the game if it gives him more time. His health and good attitude towards the project is what matters most, so it’s perfectly acceptable for him to get rid of the “updates every two weeks” establishment. And I love seeing people in these comments showing their care for him as much as the game as well 🙂 In terms of who that computer girl is, I’m rather stumped. I definitely don’t think it’s Info-Chan because this individual addresses Yandere-Chan like this is their first meeting. And there aren’t many other people we are aware of that would have this tone towards Yandere-Chan, so I guess we’ll have to wait. What are you looking forward to most in the upcoming update?

We can wait for that, and supporting you from behind. I know you want to make your fans happy, but think about your really first priority, okay ?   45. Yandere dev i think i figured out a way to help with your email problem until this build is done STOP READING YOUR EMAIL i understand you want to read your emails, and that ok! I’m just saying you could make a lot of progress.

    • He gets volunteer mail and bug reports from there. If he didn’t check his email it’d pile up and he’d never be able to find real bug reports, fanwork and volunteer content ever again, (two out three) are really important for the game’s development

    • Emails would just pile up then.

      He uses his emails talk to volunteers, to take on new volunteers, to accept fanart and to read through legitimate and clear bug reports.

      No longer reading it would then increase how much he would have to read later.

  47. I think if this built takes more time then it should be the best and i am sooooo excited!!! :D…. I think you should stop sending emails (or if you don’t then it is ok) because i have the same problem about emails from websites and those stuff and it is not that funny, i made a new email for that reason and i wasn’t making a game or something. This is my opinion and we all want the game to be good (it is already but ok). I also think that he could make a new email where we can report the bugs or anything else that he says.
    (Just an idea)
    (sorry if my english is kinda messy.It is not my mother tongue )

    • Yandere Dev already said in one of his older videos that making a new email would be a bad idea.
      People would again mistake it or purposely send spam / shitpost, plus he’d have to check and manage two email accounts, which would maybe mean twice as much work
